It's probably cheesed off because you called it a Golden-crowned Kinglet! :D

My wild bird cover crop at weekend. It's kale. Hardly any wildflowers up yet in coastal NW Mayo, so every pollinator is attracted to crop. The crop is full of noise from the bees. Hopefully will produce a good crop of seeds to provide winter feeding for endangered Twite.

I always get a good feeling when I read your posts.

    Thanks

Sorry Hotei this might be a stupid question, but are these butterflies in Ireland? I've never seen butterflies this colour here, is one all green?

As Srameen has already confirmed, all are Irish butterflies. The images of the Green-veined Whites are showing the underwings which can vary greatly from a dull yellow to a very bright yellow in colour. The upperwing colour is white, hence the 'White' in the common name. A male Brimstone when seen in flight is a luminous greeny-yellow colour and very striking; when resting or foraging, it will always have its wings closed and its underwings are a light green colour. Female Brimstone when seen in flight are white and can be mistaken for other species. You're unlikely to see Brimstone in urban areas, and will most likely see them on heathland and bogs where the larval food-plants, Buckthorn and Alder Buckthorn, are present.

A young Black-headed Gull I reckon, but I'm rubbish when it comes to identifying gull species. I'm sure someone else will know for definite.
