    Well it's not a Chaffinch. It's a Linnet.

Not really. It isn't a threat to any native plant species, but is chewing the leaves of my beloved Snake's head fritillaries at the moment. I see them every year, but my fritillaries are thriving so I don't mind them.

Viola odorata var. dumetorum Sweet Violet
I found these in a hedgerow close to Pollardstown fen a couple of days ago. Sweet Violets are usually violet in colour and this is a less common variant. They usually flower earlier than both the Early Dog-Violet and Common Dog-Violet. As the name suggests, they have a rather sweet fragrance.

    Vinca major Greater Periwinkle
I spotted this in a hedgerow close to Lullymore bog in Co.Kildare. Wood Anemones, Lesser Celandine and Primroses were also in bloom in the same hedgerow.

    Viola arvensis Field Pansy
Another member of the Viola family, and one I had not seen before. It was growing in a tillage field in late summer last year. A tiny gem of a flower!

Thanks for the tip TopTec. I'm not sure how to do that but I'll mess around with it and figure it out!

A few more from the day before yesterday.

Stonechat. Don't think I had ever seen one before.
    3XPPQyG.jpg

Greenfinch. I've seen these guys before but not too often.
    moLuD2s.jpg

Blackbird. He posed for a long time like this. He was very obliging.
    nxpk7nQ.jpg

Open to correction but I think I see Fulmar, Kittiwake and Auk here. Oh and see if you can spot the Pidgeon.
    fUoLX6T.jpg

Last but not least some Fulmar. Very handsome bird. I've never been lucky enough to be in close proximity to them until now.

TopTec thanks for the advice yesterday but im struggling to find out how I can resize the images. Would it help if I used a different image hosting website? Im currently using Imgur.

One last image from the same walk. No birds in this one however but I like it anyway. Now if only I could have got the little Stonechat to perch on the bush while at the same time a train was coming out of the tunnell. Ah well.

    Thundercat......here

    http://www.picresize.com/

    or here

    http://resizeyourimage.com/EN/#transform=&page_no=1&no_of_pages=1&filename=3.jpg&selection_top=36&selection_left=108&selection_width=384&selection_height=292&zoom=912&demomode=true

The most popular size on here seems to be 1,024px × 678px. Yours are coming in at 1,920px × 1,280px. People with slow download speeds, I used to be one of them, have to wait an age for big pics to download.

Additionally, resizing can improve sharpness too. Keps or Hotei may come in with some advice.

I copy and paste an image size of 1024 x 678 from Flickr. I find anything smaller isn't as sharp. Going larger just doesn't look great. How are you uploading the images? Do you use an image host like Flickr? If not, I'd recommend signing up to Flickr, and it's free.

I might use Flickr instead then. At the moment I'm using Imgur. So i'll take the photo, wirelessly transfer it from the camera to my phone, from my gallery on my phone I upload it to Imgur and then in boards I am linking to my images that Imgur is hosting. But if Flickr will allow me to post my images in that 1024 x 678 size that you mentioned then I'll start using that instead. Thanks for the reply.
