    I don't see why it wouldn't. Here's hoping though.

Also: I just ordered a QPad MK-80. UK layout, blue backlight, MX brown switches. Should be here Monday or Tuesday week. :)

    Nope! Brown switches don't click.

pics when it gets here. one of the few things I'm not willing to get tempted into is expensive enthusiast peripherals. keyboards, mice and especially sound equipment.

my dad used to like his sound systems, and at this point I doubt ill get any inheritance.

You want pictures of expensive peripherals, and yet, you don't want to get tempted into wanting them? :P

    Brown switches do click.

They might make some noise, but they don't click like Blues do, I mean.

I see the 2500k has gone back under the Eur200 mark again. And the FX-8150 has had a huge decrease to under Eur190 in most places (not Ireland). AMD have even gotten rid of the fancy tin to try and shave off a few quid :)

if AMD wants to get back in to game, then they NEED to be cheaper then 2500k.

where did you order it from out of curiosity? and do you know if you can turn the backlighting on and off?

Its been under 200 on hwvs for as long as I can remember.
It hit 195 around Christmas but that was the highest I've seen it go on that site.

@Shadow: Just google for it. I got it from QPad's website. And yeah, the backlighting can be turned off. Three levels, I think.

lads as far as number crunching goes, would a 2500K or an FX8150 be better?

Someone that into cars? Not likely.

cars have water cooling too, does that change it now? :D

anyway, Tea_bag, its hard to say now to be honest... 8150 is a wee bit faster at stock in games, but you get more performance per mhz with 2500k.

that is a good question now, when they are both price matched. though some can say that 1155, is still better just for ivy alone.

yea. I've speced a rig for pure number crunching in a lab environment, no gaming at all, and its likely to remain in that place for a few years till it dies. I did the natural thing and got an i5 (on a tight budget) and I couldn't find much info on the software, particularly if it supports HT. but I'm wondering if an 8150 would have been better.

Looks like 8150 is faster then 2500k at stock, but wasn't there problem with heat when overclocked with bulldozer?

From benchmarks 8150 is faster at stock. In games and in software, but not too much. If 8150 price is same as 2500k, then it is same as with 7970 vs 680. In benchmarks 680 is faster, but in real world there is no difference, the only thing that matters then - price.

For confidence when number crunching you should not over clock a machine, any processing errors could invalidate results depending on the simulations that are run. If the machine is for a business rather than academic research server chips are generally chosen as they have greater stability.

Thanks, that's a really good point actually. a bad OC might not show up initially, but it will produce inaccurate mathematical calculations. do you have any experience in the field? any advice or server CPU recommendations? opteron?

I've got a €450 budget for the rig on it's own. I'm not gonna OC after thinking about it, so might drop to a 2400 unless I can get better performance on an AMD rig.

A friend of mine wants an SSD, but can only afford €100. the only 128gb SSD near that budget is the OCZ Petrol. how bad could it be?

I'd say it's fine, TBH. You know it's going to be miles ahead of a HDD, and I'm really not sure how much difference a bunch of benchmarks make.

yea im not worried about the speeds at all, its just the newegg reviews are horrible. OCZ typical reliability problems.
