    1. Donkish 1/2 PLO table 6-max. Do you prefer naked Aces in the CO or 68910ds OTB.

    2. What's the biggest pot you won? Live and on-line?

    3. Describe a difficult hand you played optimally, that you were very happy with afterwards.

    4. Best ever fold?

    5. What is your dream table, full ring, 2-5 live cash, and why?

    1. eh, probably 68910ds otb.

    2. jeez, I won a monster pot in Vegas last summer, or maybe one during the Dublin EPT where I hit the NF on the river all in 3 ways. On line - probably 2,500$ or so.

    3. The KQ hand vs Jay that ive just posted in my blog.

    4. Folding is for wimps. In the SE 500 game last October I was on the button with JJ, Masters raised it up in EP/MP and he had been active enough, i just called behind with JJ. The board came 8 high and masters lead at the pot and i folded JJ with little hesitation. He showed QQ.

    5. Chief, Murat, Mick The Lip, Bad Beat Joe - cos there all value. There is a young guy who plays in the fitz thats thinks he is awesome but he is serious value, cant think of his name but i want him there with me. Probably your man Trimh or w/e you call him, Chinese Gary with the sunglasses and the other albanian guy or whereever he is from that plays the SE, i busted his KK with 85o once when we got it aipf. Id throw in El Stuntman and OllyK as it would pass the evening more quickly and id be sure to enjoy myself.

Do you feel partly responsible for the rag2gar debacle as you obviously shoulda known better?

Where did your superiority complex come from cause sometimes you come accross as a complete tosser?

    1. No, what should I have known better about? Dont clog this thread, PM if you wish.

    2. Not sure really, im just an all round cock. Is it misplaced? Where do you see it manifest itself most often?

I think that the funniest episode I've ever seen you involved in was the "Ship the Sherbert" incident with the Weatherman.

PS. How can you call the Derby the most obsolete race on the calendar? It is still the truest test of versatility in a throughbred. There are no hiding places and all flaws will be found out.

I dont really have any questions except would you or have you in the past lent money to (in your opinion) the most overrated poker player in Ireland?

Ship the Sherbert, yeah that was funny alright.

The derby may be a test of versatility but quixell crossat could stay 4 miles the same as he could stay 2 and it did him no good.

He has in the past been on my creditors listing but im in the free there now.

Hi Noel. Cheers for the well great read so far.

    1. Do you not see any irony in calling someone else a "hick" despite the fact that you come from one of the most socially and intellectually deprived parts of the country yourself?

2.Having read your hand analysis on boards and playing with you on many occassions I believe you have a strong understanding of the game. However Ive also found you to be ridiculously spewey on far too many occasions. Is it a constant struggle for you to gain clarity of thought at the poker table?, ie keeping you cumpulsion to gamble at bay while trying to apply logic and reason to a given situation?

3.Describe one hand played by Hallibut that greatly impressed you?

    1. I do of course see the irony. I dont rate myself as socially or intellectually deprived though.

    2. Yes, its one of my biggest demons, i find im doing ok with it though. It normally only manifests itself after an incident and i consider myself to be tilting when I do it. My AQ v your KK in Waterford for example, its not my standard play but i would consider myself to have been tilting at that point in time.

    3. I dunno, id have to go searching high stakes DB or something. Also id guess alot of his skill is in winning pots without showdown.

If you had to work for another poker site who would you choose?
If you had the choice of 200K a year in a 9-5 or 150K in poker which would you choose - i seen the first response btw.
If you could have a private forum where you could allow only ten people who would you choose and why?
Which form of Poker requires the greatest skill? i.e. NL HE cash, Hi/lo tournament or w/e.
Who taught you to play your first game, did you win?
If you had the required skill set, what would be your dream job in the world?
Favourite boards member to play against?
    Least favourite?
    You seen Charlie F recently?
What side of poker would you change if you could, a rule, or a tournament type or anything about it at al.
When do you see poker losing market share to other games?
If you were to open a Casino in Dublin, what would you target, and what do you think are the Key Success Factors for them?

    1. Cake Poker

    2. 200k a year.

    3. Pillow, HJ, Valor, Fuzzbox (where is he), I suppose id let Hali in if he would give advice, Dagunman, Smoothcall, The Champ, Yuletired, El Stuntman.

    4. I dunno really, they all have different skillsets.

    5. Ive been playing poker since i was young, 5 card draw and the likes. Also played lots of 25, my old man thought me them. Holdem, dunno where i learnt it, went for the Merrion Freerolls and took it from there.

    6. A vet specialising in equine vetinary medicine. or an options trader.

    7. El Stuntman, not for value or anything just cos he is good company at the table.

    8. Pillowtalk = zero value

    9. lol Charlie Fell, he is probably homeless somewhere.

    10. The string bet rule grinds my gears. The implication is that somebody is angle shooting by string betting where in fact the person calling for the enforcement of the rule is the actual angleshooter.

    11. I dont see many games to compete with it at present.

    12. not sure who id target, a place that serves good food would be a must. If you ask me the SE nearly has it right. You want to see the casino here in Madrid and the business it is doing.

Small pairs utg (22 - 66), cash game or tournamnt it doesnt matter (allthough its obv a more likely scenario in a tourament). You have 10 blinds. What is optium play at a 9 handed table? 6 handed table? What if you had 15 blinds? Do your opponents play change it much?

I'll have a few more at a later stage, enjoying this!

    1. It really depends on what grade sandpaper you are using but its a minimum of 3 days

    2. all of them.

    3. I dunno, kinda answered this above. Id say the hand against Jay that ive just posted in my blog and a hand i posted b4 in my blog where I missed half the deck twice V conor doyle, cant rem how much that was for. Also I suppose Roland De Wolfe knocking me out of the Irish Open last year in 35th place. Had i won that pot it could have been worth half a million to me, who knows.

    4. The SE 200 game live. Dont really play online tourneys.

    5. He is deceptively fast, id say 2 seconds at most.

    6. People enforcing the string bet rule on others for their own benefit.

    7. The advice ive received from ppl like HJ and Pillow.

    8. not qualified to answer that

    9. silence

    10. Yes

    11. Never, it would be a bad fold.

    12. raising to see where you stand

    13. Yes he can.

    14. Not very

    15. Its positive id imagine. id expect to cash 1 in 4 minimum.

    16. I dont think calling suits my style, so id guess that i couldnt make money as it would remove my ability to get value from my hands.

    17. Fold 9 handed, 6 handed I might shove them all and yes the play of my opponents would dictate my propensity to shove

    One question

    - Who would you like in the 1st round 'draw' for the HU comp?;)

Cheers for an excellent well Noel. Just a few quick questions:

    1. What do you think is the biggest hurdle facing PPP over the next year?
    2. What is your personal goal for the next 18 months-2 years?
    3. Do you think the downturn in the economy will affect poker adversely. If so which do you think will suffer worse: live or online?

Hey Noel, great read so far (although, maybe you should multi quote when replying as I'm far too lazy to keep scrolling up and down :) )

I remember a few months ago you posted up a great recipe for a drunken midnight snack, it was in the BBV thread afair, it was all breakfasty stuff chopped up and wok fried, it sounded delicious. I can't find the post and I really want to try it, can you rehash for me please?

Also, how did you discover said recipe?

You seem to have come from nowhere to becoming widely known in poker circles in such a short time. What do you attribute this to, and was it a conscious effort?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭BigCityBanker

Best of luck in your well, Noel. Just a few from me:

    1. When will Offaly win another Leinster Hurling title? Football title? Do you come from a GAA stronghold, and have you played much if so?

    2. Have you played in any of the card clubs around the midlands (Crane club, that one in Athlone, etc)?

    3. You said earlier that you didn't like the way boards poker has evolved over the years... care to expand?

    Cheers.

    1. Offaly GAA is in a sorry state, we have a very small pick. Years ago people didnt really leave home to go to college, they stayed local and worked for Bord Na Mona, ESB and the likes so the player pool remained local. Now there are numerous talented players who head for Dublin, Galway or w/e, find student life, take to drinking and riding fat birds for there hobby rather than playing GAA. I come from the St Rynaghs club home of 3 all ireland winning captains, Horan, Hanamy, Rigney - I also come from a prety strong GAA backround with All Ireland winners on both sides of my family for both Offaly and Galway. Ive played lots of Hurling and won numerous county championships at different levels, ive not played for a couple of years though, I broke my arm for the 3rd time and that pretty much wrapped things up for me as I no longer had the physical power required to play.

    2. Never been to any of them, i once tried to get over to athlone but i couldnt find out if it was open or not.

    3. Just that in general it seems to have become less helpful with some posters motives to make themselves look cool rather than to contribute anything meaningful.

I remember watching a 2/5 game in the jackpot before, You were at the table with a number of well known players, Reggie/Conor D/Germo/ Marc maybe and you were involved with a hand with the jackpots very own ATM, Darius.

Anyway, Darius raised UTG to 15 and you called on the Button, Reggie called too in the CO I think. Flop came K34. Darius led for 35, reggie folded and you called. Turn was a 5. Darius potted and you repotted. He just called. River was a Q(i think, maybe a J) and he checked and you shipped in for your last 400 or so.

Now, Darius called and showed 88. You looked at him,and said "I thought I had the straight and turned over A3", was this true or were you making a move and bluffing the station? be honest. Question in reference to Conbro's post about spewiness.

    2. Do you play any musical instruments?

    3. Who has been the single biggest influence on your poker development?

    4. Have you ever got coaching?

    5. Are you rolled for the games you play?

    Thats it really.

    1. I really thought I had the straight, i wasnt messing.

    2. not really, i used to play guitar very badly about 7/8 yrs ago. im sure i could still string a few chords together but noting meaningful

    3. I think Pillow and HJ have been very influential. Pillow is actually responsible for my tourney game.

    4. 1 hour from HJ and 1 hour from Dagunman.

    5. Yeah.

    Hi George,

I knew it was you. I play the hand the exact same way over and over again.

1500/3000/200 + Ricky raises to 9k = 15,100 in the middle and I push for 37,000 or so (Ricky says 37k but I think i pushed for 44k). Ricky had opened 6 hands in a row, i think my play is actually pretty standard, my cards are pretty much irrelevent. AJ was the very margin of his calling range and given his activity he folds tons and it makes it a profitable play. I think?

What would you consider the optimal sized tourney, in order to highlight the best player as close as possible. (As in the 5k+ runner WSOP ME is a luck race and means little, and that STTs are too small,)

Did PPP have a dedicated photographer at the IO, or plans for one at the winterfest?

    Parlez-vous francaise?

Whats your opinions on the recent staking trend?

    Would you consider staking
    Or being staked?

    And favourite steak?

    Hey Noel

very rarely I ask anything in these but here goes.

firstly i remember that hand with darius and im nearly certain that you did declare a straight before flipping over the A3,

    1) I think you started with pp after a while of leaving your old job? Was the intention after finishing in the old one always to get another job or did you hope that you could make enough off poker to sustain your high living standards which you mentioned before? If that was the intention was there one particular moment of realisation in the Sporting for example that you said it just isnt possible.

2)This is relation to the big cash game at the ept where you mentioned winning one of your biggest pots. IIRC it was a three handed pot with Anna from mermaid and some other guy with the KQ spades for the flush draw, vs the made straight and something else.

I had just arrived at the table at this point and tbh im not sure if you played another hand until you left. This shocked me a bit as with Fish on monkey tilt, crazy mariano and the big venezuelan lad in the game it had to of been one of the most + ev games that there ever has been. Was it a case of just being happy to take your 2k profit from the game and leave it at that or were you slightly intimidated by the stacks?

gotta go, but ill ask more in a while
