Apparently there is going to be a child abuse storyline involving these 2 characters...will be interesting to see how 'Enders portays that issue.

The latest "Mad Baby Stealing Doctor Blowing Herself Up" storyline on top of the burying Max alive scenario

Good soaps used to be based on good believable characters that you got close to so no matter how everyday and mundane their stories were, you found yourself interested.

It's also getting harder and harder to identify with anything that happens in some soaps because of the extreme nature of the stories.

I really disagree! For me, soaps is about an ESCAPE from reality and mundane every day life - do you think if all the characters did was sit down and watch TV every night, that would make me watch them? The soaps are always best when they're being over-the-top dramatic, the above 2 examples one of the recent best!

I'm not suggesting they sit around and watch TV every night (Although The Royale Family is one of the best shows the BBC ever made and that's all they ever did) but soaps need to maintain a grounding in reality otherwise they end up becoming the worst type of tabloid TV. When the soaps were at their best they were CHARACTER based not PLOT based. That's why 25 million viewers tuned in to see Den serve Angie with divorce papers. They genuinely cared about the characters. They didn't need some over the top, hysterically acted storyline to keep them interested.

On top of everything else, the recent explosion storyline was so badly done and devoid of tension as to be laughable. It's no wonder the show pulls in only about 9 million viewers these days.

Another huge mistake they make nowadays is divulge every detail of an upcoming storyline in the magazines and tabloids. What is the point on that? Why bother to tune in at all? When you didn't know what was gonna happen you had no choice but to tune in in order to find out. Hmmmm...who knows? Maybe that would bring the ratings up?!

I agree with you there...it totally spoils the fun! And tbh, I don't care about missing the soaps as much as I used to...simply because I think I can just read what happens in the mags!

No Whitney's father is dead. Tony, Bianca's boyfriend, is in prison for beating up a boy who was hasseling Whitney. That's why they're counting down the days untill he gets out.

Yeah I hate him too. But nobody ever calls the police in EE. I mean, if some nutter was running around threatening to throw babies out of windows and beating up anyone dares to get in his line of sight, they'd be locked up in real life.

does anyone know if the guy who plays Jim had a stroke in real life?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,138 ✭✭✭foxy06

    Yeah he did

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,636 ✭✭✭Alice1

    Genie,
Yes, as far as I know, he had a stroke.

Can anyone enlighten me regarding the person who was buying all the things for Biana and her children? Never did quite work out who that was.

It was Whitney, she found the lottery ticket that the Millers lost and cashed it in.

No loss IMO. How are they going to write Honey out? Poor Billy has to be the unluckiest soap character. Ever.

  • Registered Users Posts: 31,859 ✭✭✭✭Sharpshooter

Honey leaves Billy and takes Janet with her , leaving the square in a taxi, original huh,
But the actress herself is devastated to be leaving and says in her last episode that the focus is all on Wellard.
I liked the way Honey always got her words mixed up , she made me laugh which is a rarity watching the show these days.:)

    Oooo an Eastenders thread......fabulous!!!

I wonder is Max actually going to try and kill Jack?
    Should be interesting....

  • Registered Users Posts: 31,859 ✭✭✭✭Sharpshooter

Jack is certainly pushing his luck there all right.
Hope he doesn't go out of it though , I'd say he will set him up or something. He would prefere Jack to be around to see who caused his downfall.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,008 ✭✭✭Bijoux

Good point there....do you think is really as mad about Tanya as he seems, or is he just trying to make Max miserable?

  • Registered Users Posts: 31,859 ✭✭✭✭Sharpshooter

Didn't Max say that Jack had always fancied Tanya , right from the start of Max and Tanya's realationship.
The fact that it is getting to Max is an added bonus.:D

Who is the actress playing Sussie as Phil's bit of stuff and a long lost sister of more brennans.

She is like a young Susan Penthalagen, if anyone remembers a series called 'bouquet of barbed wire' then you will know who i mean and remember here sicky slippery style of acting, pouting and flirting.

This woman only speaks in sentences of 4 syllables at a time it seems, and has to sound breathy as Marilyn Munroe, she slithers as she speaks like a snake on valium, oozing what i think she thinks is sex appeal, sound and looks more like Jessica Rabbit on a flat hair day, with each husky penetrating deliberate slowness - like someone reading from an auto que.

You agree or is it just me that wonders if she knows she is only in 'enders' and not trying out for badly dubbed porn?

A major ham if i ever saw one.

Yeah, I find her character a bit annoying tbh.

And seriously, what's the story with her fairy princess giant sparkly pink handbag??? It just doesn't go with her character at ALL. Everytime I see it I think it just makes no sense!

Is anyone else getting really sick of Stacey?

She's got the most miserable face on every single time. Didn't she want to get back with Bradley? She's acting like she's doing penance and she's only back with him five minutes.

Now I see that Bradley has a big 21st birthday party and it's all expensive and she and
NewBoyCalum kiss outside. The spoiler is that she's wondering how Bradley can afford such a fancy party, and I'm guessing that he tells her that he kept his Dads cheque. And she gets mad and goes outside and gets "consoled" by Calum.

But how frustrating is that? Why are we supposed to be rooting for this couple again? Every time I see her miserable face I feel like roaring "Just leave him if you don't want him!" at the telly.

    :D

I'm a bit sick of Stacey playing the martyr too, why did she even get back with Bradley? She hasn't stopped whinging at him since. The other night when he got the cheque from Max and was thinking about keeping it until Stacey said 'remember what happened the last time we left him into our lives?' Yeh, you slept with him, hardley Bradley's fault was it?

I think she was referring to the abortion she had as she always blamed Max for influencing Bradley into making her have it and that was when everything went wrong for them.

What did people think of last night's episode? I though that for once Billy was going to be a man and help Jase out, but instead he hid behind a shower curtain and cried. The next few weeks are going to be so predictable, after her chat with Shirley last night Dawn's going to blame herself for what happened, Billy won't be able to live with the guilt of no helping out and Jay will go mad when he finds out the truth...

I was kinda wondering about that bit myself. Do you think it showed the kinda pathetically sneaky side of Billy again?
(A good previous example would be when Billy robbed the charity money in the plaster staue thingy last Christmas.)
Was he bashing the tiles with his fist out of anger and frustration, or was he doing it to damage his knuckles, thus making it look like he had been giving it his all to help Jase in the donnybrook with the thugs? Apparently his behaviour is going to
    cause Honey to leave him.

I thought it was great acting from the young lad that plays Jay. Very sad stuff. :(
Oh, and Billy is a spineless creep.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 494 ✭✭trio

    Apparently Billy
    is going to go eeeevil.

Other spoilers I've heard about is that Bradley
goes all dark and Max-like when he realises that Calum and Stacey are getting too close for comfort. No spoilers yet as to whether Stacey actually does have an affair, or if it's a "sexual tension" thing that drags on for ages and wrecks the viewers heads.

Personally I quite like the Bradley spoiler. Should be more interesting than his storylines so far.
