Quite dis appointed in myself today. I was booked in for a HSG before my lap which is booked for this day 3 weeks and she couldn't complete it. It was just too painful. I don't know why but it was excrutiating. I've had it before and it was ok, with one massive oh my god moment but otherwise ok. This time she actually had to stop.
Really annoyed as it would have shown if I had any flow at all in my right tube :( It's official I am a wimp :(

You are NOT a wimp, those things are sore, even with great tubes. Any little twist or whatever and they are excruciating. Could it be that she was inexperienced? You need to be skillful and quick at them?

Can you reschedule with stronger pain relief?

Barbie what is a HSG? This is a new one on me

I don't think so no this cycle anyway. The op in 3 weeks so probably won't have time. I'm sure he'll do one when I'm under. I'm nit sure how experienced she was it was certainly taking longer than the last one I had awake. She barely got to start putting the the dye in. Oh well it's done with €200 for no results i'd have preferred a new jeans top and boots :-)

Barbie, you can get a HSG done while the're doing the lap, that's what I got. It's a standard part of the procedure AFAIK, but if not tell them you want it done as part of teh lap when you're under anaesthetic! Poor you xxx

Have heard preseed being mentioned in here a couple of times. Couldn't find it but I got some conceive plus instead in Boots and an hour or so after we used it I got rash on my arms. Weird eh  Can't make head nor tale of my cycle this month either. Thought I was having ovulation type symptoms the other day but they didn't last more than a few hours. Usually I'd feel them over a couple of days. It can be fairly irregular but I suppose the miscarriage might have put it more out of sync.

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,513 ✭✭✭✭Lucyfur

Roesy, you can get preseed online. I know boots were I am doesn't stock it.

Thanks. Might give it a try. The conceive plus was a waste at nearly 20 quid. Not going to risk another bout of rashy arms though! I'm miserable at the moment with my throat, ears and a cough so I reckon I'll be putting the ttc stuff on the backburner for a few days. Supposed to be seeing our friends new baby at the weekend. Got really cute stuff for her but I can't help feeling jealous which is making me feel bad!

Doc Morris stocks preseed. We found it brilliant when you're in for the marathon sessions :o

Hi ladies.I haven't been on here in a long time. I'm just feeling very low at the moment about the whole ttc journey and how it has consumed our lives. Half thinking of giving up! :( I'm still taking all the Napro drugs but I've stopped charting and taking bloods etc. I have lost a lot of faith since our loss in July because of the clinical way in which we were treated by all the medical professionals. After more than ten years I'm not sure I can pick myself up again this time, and feel that maybe we should be happy with our lot. Anyway we don't have to make any hasty decisions so we'll carry on as we are for now and if nothing happens by the new year we might have a rethink!
Sorry for the whinge! I hope you're all doing well. :)

We all get that way sometimes. If you need to take time out do so, if you need to stop do. Remember there are other ways to add to your family such as fostering and adoption. Big hugs

    Hi Mods,

Not sure if this is the best place for my query but really not sure where else to put it.
Although as I do fall under the category of planned parenthood but via surrogacy I'm hoping this post is safe. My OH and I are only starting out in this process and would really appreciate some shared experience and advice from Irish couples gay or straight, that have used surrogacy either in Ireland or abroad. We know about the lack of legal framework in Ireland so not looking to open up a debate on that topic. Although if someone has pursued surrogacy within Ireland I would definitely love it if you would share how you did it and overcame obstacles. We've made our decision to pursue surrogacy, we are just starting out and really want to benefit from the insight and experience of others further along this journey.

    Thanks in advance.

Well i'm out, yet again , had a very short cycle this month (26 days), so the agnus castus seems to have worked. I actually didn't get upset today when the dreaded AF arrived. Think I am just getting used to it.

How is everyone else getting on? We've all been a bit quiet this month.

I remember that feeling. Just keep looking forward sticky bean. Good to hear the Agnus castus worked.

Great to hear the agnus castus worked for you! Keep the chin up, I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you :)

Myself, I got the results of day 21 bloods - no ovulation, in for a looooong cycle again, faboo. Although I had cramps the last two days that come and go and actually woke me up last night.

:( Doc is without a doubt of pcos at this stage (I gained an insane amount of weight during my last super long cycle) so I have an appointment for treatment with a specialist in March.

So we've given up trying so hard and are just having a nice time to ourselves for Xmas.
We'll worry about it in March.

Hardest part over now you have a diagnosis. Sit back and relax and enjoy Christmas. Hopefully your consultant will try you on metformin, which will help with the weight, kick starting ovulation (it worked for me) and then baby whatdoicare will be on the way soon after :)

Have u being suing OPK's to see when you are ovulating? Great that you have your date x

@Digs: hee hee hee, baby whatdoicare, if all works out I'd be due around the Xmas of next year! Now, that would be an Xmas pressie to beat all pressies (except hat one year I got a furbie lol! Showing my age there ;p)

@stickybean: been doing OPKs but it's weird, I got positive opk for three days in a row and it meant I should have had AF on the 4th of November but nothing happened. It was the same time as the day 21 bloods and they showed no ovulation. But I'll keep going with the tests all the same. Well, I'm looking forward to meeting Cathy in March to see what she has to say. :)

whatdoicare, I had a weird cycle this month, you may have seen me mention it earlier in this thread, but my day 21 was actually on day 19, got a positive OPK CD 11 and 12 which meant I would have ovulated around 12/13. And had a really short cycle, is it possible this could have happened to you?

Well, according to my opk I would have been ovulating the day I did the 21 day bloods, I had a positive test on the day before I did the test and for three days before that, the nurse told me it could mean my body tried to ovulate but there was no egg. Especially if my lh surge was three days or more.
I still haven't my af, on cd day 45 now I think.

Ah okay, but 21 day bloods are meant to be taken 7 days after you ovulate, I was very confused when I heard the name "21 day bloods", but my GP explained in an ideal 28 day cycle you would ovulate on day 14 so 7 days later would would have your "day 21 bloods". But everyone's 21 day bloods can be on different days pending there cycle lenght. Perhaps that why you showed as not ovulating.

No idea, my home test showed I'd ovulated or was about to and I hadn't so there's pretty much no way for me to tell myself, my last cycle was 83 days long, 55 before that, 29 before that, so I'm all over the place. It's hard work trying to figure it all out.

Ah PG you will get sorted in March :) Where are you attending?

I just got my 21 day blood results this evening, progesterone was 52, the nurse did mention two other tests, I can't recall the name but she said they were both normal :D

Thanks Stickybean, fingers crossed it will. I'm attending St John's in Limerick under Cathy Casey, she has a rep for being good. I have no idea what my results were exactly as my GP gave them to me over the phone and I really didn't know what to ask but I do know she's sending it all onto Cathy so hopefully she'll go into greater detail with me. I've been trying to find things out online but there's just so much info to syphon through. It's pretty overwhelming and a good bit scary.

This is the post that I am going to sound like a total bitch and to be honest I feel like one.

I have just spoken to my very best friend in the whole world. She was always my rock and one of only 2 people who knew our story. She had a almost 21 year old, 14, & 11 year old. She has just told me she is expecting baby number 4.

I am sitting here on the sofa with my heart breaking, totally breaking. I have cried so hard I got sick and if I am totally honest I really hate her at this very minute. It just feels so unfair. It was unplanned. I know I am being nasty but that is how I feel now.

Of course every time I hear a friend is expecting I feel envy but can always wish them well and mean it but this time I just feel so angry. So bloody angry. I know how hard it must have been for her to tell me and to tell me so early. I did the whole "I am so happy for you, how are you feeling" thing and she told me my wishing her well means the world to her but inside I hate her right now, of course I have the cop to know that I don't really hate her. I love her to bits but she is getting what I want so badly.

I really feel this has broken me, the final straw. Of course I want my baby not my friends but finding it hard now.

I am going to go make a cup of tea and calm down. I know that in time I will be happy for her but just now I can't I feel to much envy and heartbreak.

I know exactly how you feel right now Caroline. *hugs* lovey xxx

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,030 ✭✭✭yellow hen

    Hugs Caroline. Xx

ps. you are not bitch. Nor do you hate your friend. You need to vent and shed the emotion. Allow yourself the opportunity to do that on here and in the privacy of your own home. Xx

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,120 ✭✭✭Ms2011

Oh Caroline I'm sorry you're feeling down, the fact that you could wish her well despite your heart breaking proves you are no bitch.
    Please take care x

Oh Caroline, I know exactly how you feel pet, I feel like EVERYONE around me is getting pregnant and it will never be me :( I sometimes even look at women in the shops and on the street with envy. You are in no way a bitch or a bad person, you are only human and we have all felt this way at some point, but don't worry, our day will come xxxx
