Interesting... worth a discussion thread of its own perhaps?

There's only one study I know of on the subject and it indicated that, if anything, the reverse is true.
    Wikipedia wrote:
In 2007, research by the University of Central Lancashire suggested that the Napoleon complex (described in terms of the theory that shorter men are more aggressive to dominate those who are taller than them) may be a myth. The study discovered that short men (below 5 foot 5 inches) were less likely to lose their temper than men of average height. The experiment involved subjects dueling each other with sticks, with one subject deliberately rapping the other's knuckles. Heart monitors revealed that the taller men were more likely to lose their tempers and hit back.

It may also interest people to know that Napoleon was average height for his time! Here's the link if you want to read more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_complex.

Its not like we can control our height!

Actually people do call people fat all the time. And often if they don't use such overt words they use euphemisms with the exact same consequences.

But I see exactly what you mean seeing as height is almost impossible to control whereas most weight is controllable.

Although tall women have a real allure about them. I've never dated a girl taller than me but if her personality was good then I'd definetly see her height as an added bonus. Tall women tend to be very striking, although they usually like taller guys.

    Shame/

Tallest girl I ever went out with was 5'10 or 11

she wasn't just tall but she was well built too, 6'4 and well over 200lb (15 stone or thereabouts) looks monstrous on a woman, its equivalent as a 6'9-6'10 300lb guy imo, here is 6'2 pro-wrestler nicole bass how would you describe her http://www.cenvall.com/images/nicole.jpg

i have seen a few WNBA players in person (thats womens basketball for those who don't know) and none of them looked monstrous despite some being around 6'5-6'6

I'm 5'10 and my bf is the about the same height as me.

I've only ever gone out with one guy who was shorter than me and never again. It just feels a bit weird, even wearing heels now is a bit dodge, I always feel like a giant in them!!

Yes, except for the being able to operate a computer thing. And I'm sure most Boards poster don't wear lipstick on their teeth and scare us all by wearing bikinis at 75. (Shudder!) (I am willing to be corrected on this!)

Actually, better question than the short men one: Would you go out with the woman described above. :p

I definitely prefer women who approach my height. I'm six foot five, so that's pretty rare. One woman I had a thing for is six foot three, and it certainly added a lot to her appeal.
    Is this woman from Leixlip?
Give me her number. I've always wanted to do someone taller than me.
A lot of porn stars are small men, it makes their willies look relatively bigger. Fact.
    This is true.
I'm 6'2" and fat, so my penis looks really tiny.
All those girls I sent pics to via PM laughed at me. :(

my wife is exactly the same height for me, but i have never had a problem with going out with soeone who was taller than me in the past.
    Really?
I remember meeting both of you and I never noticed.
I was fairly drunk at the time, so that might have something to do with it, or maybe it's just how you carry yourself.

You look eerily similar to my friend and he does quite well. He's 5'7".

As for the 5'10" wimmin, give me a shout. You're in with a chance.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I'm intimidated by men who are taller than me.
I was always the tallest among my friends and classmates when I was growing up.
Too many kids today are taller than me. We need to bring the leprechauns back from America and restore the balance.

im about 5'1, if i found a man smaller than me he would probably be freakishly small for a man. ive gone out with a guy around 5'3 & hes probably one of the smaller guys ive met. for me that was more like "woohoo im not really small" than "hes really small" because im used to being around taller people.

ive no idea what height my bf is but its a good bit taller than me (easy enough!), top of my head reaches the top of his chest somewhere. i love his height, makes me feel dainty & protected :)

In secondary school in Belgium, I was always one of the smaller kids in my class at 6'. There were a few shorter than me, but the majority were much taller.

I always found it strange going down Grafton Street where at only 6' I was still taller than a lot of the people there.

I think Irish people are smaller and more built than some other countries. Going to the Gael Thucht I was always surprised to be referred to as "the tall guy".

The Dutch in my school were almost all excessivly tall. Thin as rakes too.

Keep in mind I'm aware that Irish people can be tall too, it's just a culture shock not being small anymore.

    Feckin' aryans and their height.

I don't know if it's just me, but I have found that younger Irish people are taller than previous generation.

It is known that a prosperous society does produce taller people and this may be the reason behind it (I'll avoid the discussion about the tall Pictish warriors who scared the crap out of the Romans, lest it bring up the stuff in the Ben & Jerry thread :) ). We were basically a second world country until about 15 years ago.

Aye. If I was a foot shorter, I'd be a fat bas*ard but cos I'm tall, I'm told I ain't fat at all.
I personally prefer taller men, although at 5'9 it's hard to find guys who are a lot taller.
And next to impossible finding tall girls.

There's only one girl I know that would be nearly as tall as me in Leixlip. Actually, two. A fair-haired girl with the initials C.O'D, and another, slightly smaller, with initials A.H (who also happens to be a complete babe).

    =-=

Oh, and when in school, I always found a wave type variance in height. My year, lots of tall people, as were 4 years in front of me, and four years behind me. People two years after me always seemed to be small.

I'm into XXXL clothes at this stage.

I honestly don't know one girl in Leixlip who is taller than me.
Well ok, one. But she doesn't really like me and she doesn't have the initials you gave there.

I did see one really tall girl a few weeks back, but I was too drunk to go and talk to her. I'm fairly sure the fact that I stared at her as she walked by was enough to freak her out.

Its not that hard for a woman to be taller than me. I'm a little under normal hieght. My current g/f is about and inch and a half taller than me.

    Doesn't bother me or her.

    Nah, they were no aryans.
    Scrawny buggers.
    Just freakishly tall.

A history poster I saw in school once mentioned that in the 19th century, before the famine, Most Irish people (ie: the peasants) were about an inch and a half taller than most Brits, and still much taller and stronger than most other Europeans. THis was due to a diet of buttermilk and potatoes.

Nowadays Ireland seems to have people who are small enough, but usually pretty well built in so far as my experience works.

Although Ireland was no second world country (We weren't no commies!)
Most foreigners I knew who visited Ireland in the 80s or before remarked to me that Ireland was like a third world country back then

Isee what you mean, but the second world was all the commies:
First World: America and her allies in the cold war (capitalist democaracies)
Second World:SOviet Union and her satellites (Socialist autocracies)
THird WOrld: Not aligned to either.

At least, that's what I was taught in secondary school.

Just Ireland cannot be called a second world as we were never communist.
I'm guessing we'd be first world as we were democracies with a friendly relationship with the US.
