There's going to be a couple of Hum-Dingers during Christmas Week on Radio Won, that's for sure. Take Wednesday December 27th for instance:

Today with Sean O'Rourke, presented Castleknock farmer, Damien O'Reilly

Two shows to replace the mighty Liveline....
    13:30 "Waiting"
    Written by Fiona Looney.

    And at 14:00 "Situationships"

Then at 15:00 "Sure T'was Better"

And especially from the Head of Content just for you, Brendan:
    22:00 Joe Jackson Tapes Revisited

    Is this a spoof? I can't tell.

Its started already, a repeat of sunday morning with Miriam was played at 10pm last night instead of the late debate.

That show has repeats on all the time and not just at Xmas.

Heard that Joe is spending the entire Christmas period with the homeless. Giving half his salary as well.

The cutbacks in RTE are upon us after they losing millions in the court case concerning the last presidential election. Their solution is that by far the majority of the staff have to recover from the shock by not having to work over Christmas and the full season. Out of respect for this harsh sacrifice compensation payments exist for the discombobulated. There is actual RTE logic here when the taxpayer is required to generously create the conditions for the continued extension of " la dolce vita" for a select interconnected few. And long may it last I say. We are lucky to have them.

Really, it's true. It does seem like the sort of thing 'Not the RTE Guide' would put up as a piss-take on Twitter.

    Unbelievable.

It's still a massive improvement from the old wax cylinder system they were using.

Hmmmm minimum input on MI this morning on the news front, just a bunch of dudes jawing with Cian McCormack on the past year.

Interesting to hear one contributer described as a "social media personality'

Seems we have another tag for no-names now as well as 'reality tv personality'.

The future is not good ,my friends

    Also know as " Influencers".
Basically professional moochers looking for freebies from wherever they can get them, I struggle to see what they could possibly contribute to the flagship current affairs programme....

To give them their credit, Ronan Collins was excused from his gruelling annual double duty on the 26th yesterday. Perhaps he was busy drumming at a Joe Dolan anniversary vigil?

I know the Castleknock farmer was due to finish at 1100, was ‘The King of bland patter’ on for the two hours.

I give Montrose in all its forms a wide berth this time of the year.

Too many devices have felt the ire of an angry rescue club to risk the good stuff.

Carole Moran stood in again today. To her credit she played some gem tracks but she forgot to do the Showband birthday list :pac:

Losty, forgive me for being a bit pedantic, and nothing personal, but it's Carol Moran.

Small stuff I agree, but important.

    Now.....

While we are at it, let's examine Carole Coleman, made her name in the Bush interview, why I don't really know, apparently married some dude over there, but lo an behold appears back all of a sudden reporting on some low level stuff on radio.

What's the story there, one might ask ?

I've noticed that a lot lately. She usually does the sad voiceovers for foreign disaster stories.

Leader in the clubhouse so far I feel is Conor Brophy, apart from doing the economic bulletins in his Cabinteely/Dun Laoire/ Shankhill style accent, he is doing the News at One as well.

Seems he could get a bit of a 'leg up' in 2018.

The Marty "comedy" show this morning is dire.

Twice on the News at One they referred to the first baby born in Ireland in 2018 as weighing 3.2 Kilos, without giving the pounds and ounces equivalent.

I've literally never heard anyone giving newborns details in Kilos, most listeners would have been in the dark.

A fine baby but a small turkey.

Brenda Donohue (Kildare) in for D'arcy (Kildare)

    Can we go lower?

What's the Kildare in brackets after each name all about?

Just an observation Mm, both as I recall are from Kildare.

D'arcy from the town and Donohue from Newbridge, or maybe Clane.

Just a little snippet of extra info.

Soz if it's not accurate dude.

Tis a busy morning in the Montrose Holiday Home...
    1. Fanning is in for Tubs.
    2. Cathal is in for Ronan.
    3. Philip Boucher Hayes is in for Miriam O'Callaghan.
    4. Who herself is meant to be in for Séan O'Rourke

Sadly Joe Duffy and Ray D'Arcy are on air and thus the listener gets no holiday from them.

Thought Shay Byrne was meant to be in for Ronan this week??

Hopefully Ronan finds out soon who he's sending a postcard and bringing back Duty Free to :)

Yep, Stay Byrne is in for Ronan according to Paul Melia(?) who is in for Shay. Also yesterday I think Sarah McInerney was on Drivetime so presumably only Morning Ireland, News at One, Arena and Late Date have their usual presenters. Not sure if The Late Debate is off air for the summer. A joke for a national broadcaster.

Definitely feel like a holiday for the sports and business news readers who dont have to put up with Shay's dire excuse for "banter" in the mornings while he's away.

Agree, good time for a coup in Ireland is Xmas.

Only one person and a dog manning the National Broadcaster.....

Colm O Regan starting now...... the mind boggles.
