Wow! That would make a great cover illustration for a book. 1984 for example.

Magic, love the ceiling, now that's a panoramic!

Took this out the back the other night; apparently that's Comet Holmes. It's not great as astro pics go, but it's the first comet I've ever captured. It's around for another couple of weeks, so if you get a chance in the dark evenings, look to the East, Luke...

    50mm, cleaned up in PSE.

(posted it in the Astro forum as well, but they only get about 5 viewers a week, it's dead over there :p )

First semi-decent swan shot I've taken (and I've tried way too many times)... slowly getting there in my learning curve :)

Wow, stunned by the reaction to the "Blue Velvet" image, thanks y'all, most of it's charm (?) is due to the frame made by a persona on flickr called nesster - you can use his/her TTV frames (through the viewfinder) as long as you attribute him/her.

I've been reading about Painting with Light - long exposures illuminated by "painting" with a torch or other light source. Here's our first family outing:

Kali that swan is a lot whiter than the manky ones I was trying to shoot on Saturday! And that's a better pic than any of mine too!

it may be my eyesight but the pictures look out of focus. Try halfpressing the shutter button to focus on you subject with then a little press to take the photo and as such less risk of camera movement/shake and out of focus pictures.

glad to see another Nikon user on Boards !

Those shots are both blurry kateos2. I'm not sure if its camera shake or poor focusing. Those shots look like pics about the house so I'd say they're take in relatively low light suggesting camera shake to me. Have a mess around with increasing the ISO (basically sensor gain to make it more sensitive to light resulting in shorter exposures minimising the effects of shake, tho this adds noise) and opening the aperture (small f number) to allow more light to enter the lens.

Definitely camera shake kateos2. As suggested try a higher iso or use a tripod.
