    - Did you ever consider that you were actually playing bad rather than running bad?

I never used to until I started analysing sessions and realised I was often playing bad.
    - How long in total are you playing holdem?
    bad rather than running bad?

    I'd guess 3/4 years roughly.
    - You started as a live player, how long was it before you ventured into online?

About 6 months after I started playing with friends.
    - How long did it take you to make a successful switch from live to online 6 max? What was the biggest difficulty you encountered?

I was successful immediately but I wasnt a decent player for about a year afterwards.

The bigeest difficulty was not having a clue about hand values. KTs utg always used to look like a monster as did KQ after a 4bet.
    - Was there any epiphany in your poker life?

Usually have a new one every few weeks at this stage.
    - What is the single best piece of poker advice you have ever received?

    Em, dunno really.
    - If you could only offer 1 piece of advice to a poker player what would it be?

    Try to be the aggresor.
    - You are charged with turning a live donk into an online player who can comfortably crush 2/4, what are the 5 most important things you would impress on him.

    1. Play very tight UTG and UTG+1.
    2. If you're entering a pot, raisy daisy
    3. Make use of the stats on your hud. If someone's fold to cbet stat is v high, then cbet nearly every time. if their went to showdown stat is v high, dont bluff them. And so on.
    4. Be patient.
    5. Have good table selection
    - How much is it for a high class hooker for a night in Bangkok?

Have no idea. Cheap ones are about €20 afaik.
    - When you had your first ladyboy experience was it a crying game moment or were you like "whooa, ah sure il give it a go".

Alas, I'm yet to have one. If it did ever happen, I certainly wouldnt be thinking "ah sure ill give it a go"

    1. How big is your bank roll right now?

Lol. None of your business. Big enough for 5/10 and not big enough for 10/20.

Thought I may as well give it a shot! Could you say if it was more or less than 50k?

Brilliant stuff Ian.I had notions of doing exactly what youre doing right now but just fell outta love with the game...so its great to read about what your life as a pro is like and great to hear how succesful you have been.

My only question really is about thailand, heading for 3.5weeks next week. Plan is to go tubing in Laos(you do it yet?),chiang mai for jungle trekking, and the islands (Full Moon,Samui,Ko Tao,Phi Phi). With only 3.5weeks, how would you recommend we(6lads on the booze basically) spend our time most efficently

I havnt been to Laos yet. Should be there over the next month or two.

With 3 and a half weeks, I'd recommend starting in Chang Mai for 2/3 days. Then get a night train to Chumphon and get the boat to Koh Tao. I'd definitely do the diving there as it's well worth the cash (about €100 for the PADI Open Water Cert Course). Bans is a good place to stay and is usually quite busy at night and often stays open til 6am. Lotus bar is the other good nightspot there and thats full every night til 2.

Also, rent out some fins and masks from any of the dive centres and take a 5 minute taxi to shark bay. Swim out until its about 4 metres deep and you'll see a load of sharks (tame). Well worth the trip.

Then get a boat to Phangan. When you gt off take the left at the pier. Going to the right brings you to Haad Riin where the parties are every night and it can be a pain in the tits at night if you wanna just chill out. The other ebach which is a 5 minute walk from the main beach is far more relaxed and still has loads of places around. Some people hate the full moon party and think the nights leading up to it are better, but I had a deadly buzz on the night of the full moon. Every night there's a huge party with about 10k people on the beach, so there isnt really a vast difference between a regular party and the big ones. Cactus is the bar most people go to and if you're so inclined, there's a deadly place down the end of the beach called the mountain bar which sells the infamous "special shakes". I frequented that place all too often and got caught in a Yellow Submarinesque haze for a few days. Highly recommended!

I didnt really like Samui but my mates all loved it. The main place to go is called Chaweng. Thats were all the nightlife. The Green Mango is definitely the best club there and another one near it opens til 6am when all the other bars have closed.

You can then get a night boat from Samui to Phi Phi. It leaves around 10pm and arrives around 8am. Phi Phi is tiny. The best bars to go to are Apaches and Hippies, though there arent many others. Make sure you do the day trip to The Beach island and so some snorkelling in the bay.

Then finish up in bangkok to do your shopping. If you're there ona weekend go to Chatuchak market. Its the most insane place you could ever see. They literally sell everything. There's an entire section of the market that sells animals in iny cages ranging from cats, to squirrels to monkeys. If you're not there ona weekend, go to Khao San road as that has everything you'll need there, but if you get the chance go to Chatuchak as it's something you'll remember.

    Great thread, wp.

Hope I'm not repeating another q, but anyway...
How many hands do you average in a day/month/whatever, and how do you structure it?
ie do you play for an hour and break for an hour and repeat, or do you play 1 session a day and make it a long one?

I dont really have any set structure to my sessions. SOmetimes i'll play 100 hands and sometimes i'll play 2k+ hands. yesterday i played for about10 hours with 2 half hour breaks. today i played 2 short sessions so far. gonna play another 2 hours now bfore the rugby starts.
