    Hi Sean,

I recieved more flyers in the post, two mailing lists?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,860 ✭✭✭ditpoker

just a quick note. i see myself and taraldarion's sigs both read "deleted by ecksor" which has removed our link to pokerireland. i've sent him a PM to ask why it was deleted and what we can write.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,090 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

I PMed him a few days back. He said Tom wanted some pokerlinks removed or something. People were putting ones back up when he took them down. Ecksor wrote a script to delete the sigs, it seems it missed a lot though and picked on pokerireland. :)

    I PM'd him too.

Didn't think my sig broke any rules.

    I must starting ending every post with;

Register for the IPO today - www.pokerireland.ie

    Hi guys,

Numbers are growing so keep it going.

100 players will be the landmark for us and once we get there early I'm sure we will get the 1,000 players we want.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 149 ✭✭[DM] Frink

See this is what I was talking about Stephen being honest about how many people have joined!

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,646 ✭✭✭cooker3

Yeah I asked ecksor about this and he said he deleted them from the database, although he is not picking on the IPO in general.

Stephen, if you want it changed then I was told a new thread can be started on the feedback forum and see what Tom thinks.

I think the fact that the majority of us who have the sig are not getting anything out of it means it should be ok imo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,140 ✭✭✭ocallagh

i think the rules for the sigs are:
the name of the link must match the address

so: www.pokerireland.ie is ok, while Poker Ireland is not, although that doesn't explain why my blog wasn't deleted

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,771 ✭✭✭carfax

I didn't get an answer to the PM.

    I'm not too worried though.

I know the mods do a lot of work for little or no return and after all THE INTERNATIONAL POKER OPEN, WHICH TAKES PLACE ON OCT 6TH AND 7TH IN THE RDS AND JACKPOT CASINO CLUB (€100,000 Guaranteed subject to 700 players for a €150 buy-in) is getting free advertising at every stage.

    Hi Mick,

How have you only heard about this  You must be working too hard for Luke.

I'll see you in there later on but here's some info.

Buy-in €125+€25 reg. RDS, Shelbourne Hall, Ballsbridge, D4.

You can sign up on Mermaid Poker.com and pay your buy-in there (exactly the same way as with the Student Champs last January).

Cash registration is possible but somebody that makes as much money as you can do a bank transfer, laser card or credit card too.

    Cheers,
    Stephen.

We can add Portugal to the list of International Players.....A fair 'owl invasion has been organised by a bunch of players there now too.

Don't mean to sound like a broken record lads but get in there early and register please.

If everybody leaves it to the last minute to register it could make life a little difficult for Derek and I.

We are able to accomodate up to 1,500 players but we need to see numbers rising early to do make preparations if we are going to get over the 1,000 player mark.

20 teams registered for the team event so far (which has over $2,600 in added value). All I need is an email registering a team name if anyone is interested - stephen@pokerireland.ie.
I will be taking team registrations from International players up to Sept 8th (Mermaid are launching a marketting campaign in the first week in September for Scandinavian players so there will be a lot of extra players making the trip hopefully) but Sept 1st is the deadline for Irish players.

Which was me being slow due to not being on boards for a couple of days. Reply sent now, although the situation is as described here. I'm actually a bit confused myself at this stage.

this is truly becoming an International event, why only the other day i heard a guy telling his pal that he is already signed up,

i couldnt quite place the accent, so i asked

you wont believe this but the guy was from England, and apparently he was able to register, just like that, no quibbles

either these poker ireland lads are examples to us all or they shouldnt be let out

when i work it out, i will post again

dont tell me there's no smell, i got it as soon as i walked in

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,317 ✭✭✭The Clamper

ok, i worked it out, but there's no way i'm posting it here

a rose by any other name still smells as sweet

but i can tell you 1 thing, this is no bloody rose

now its just hanging there, lingering, like an after taste from something bad eaten while drunk and you wake up the following morning, wondering, wtf was i up to last night?

No worries at all Ecksor.....I didn't think you needed to justify it or anything so didn't think I was getting a reply.

I know the IPO has been taking over a few threads and we have tried to tone it down but there is a lot of info we want players to have. I know the forum should be non-commercial but I do think the same rules should apply to all too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,317 ✭✭✭The Clamper

i agree whole hearted;y, so how much do you think i could charge for posting?

    i think the word is,,,Pungent !!!

68 were registered at this time last night.
71 are registered right now.....Less than half are Irish (eeeek).

Keep it going guys and gals.....I would love to make the 100 mark by the end of this week but I don't think thats too realistic. I'm really hoping that with the push we are going to give for the next 5 weeks or so that we make the 1,000 player mark by Oct 1st....Don't forget the more players that we get registered now the more there will be on the day of Oct 6th.

Satellites on tomo (Wednesday) night at 8pm too.......

Hey Stephen got the flyers there yesterday, cheers! I'll get them out and about this weekend when I'm back in Dublin.

Me and my friends are registering this weekend. To register a team can I give you 6 names now or do we have to be registered for the tourney online first!? Also do we pay in cash for the Team Event?

Just wondering the people that are dealing at the tables will some of them be playing too, while dealing?

Thanks a mil....You don't have to be fully signed up and paid for the main event and I have a team reserved for you now DM. Just send me on the team listing when everyone gets sorted (before Oct 1st). All team captains will be asked to officially register their team on the day with cash (€300+€30 per team).

Q.3 It depends on the numbers we get in attendance. As I'm sure you know we have been training dealers up for the last couple of months. Add that to the list of dealers that I have myself and staff that we will be borrowing from casinos, I expect to have 80 dealers working and not playing on the day.
If we get the 1,000 players we want we will need a very minimum of 110 staff. I am aiming to have a further 100 dealers (that do want to play) on file. Within the first three levels I expect enough players to have busted out to allow us to make the tournament fully dealer (non-playing) dealt.

"at mermaid poker there are currently 71 players registered is that all at present"

Just wanted to show everyone the type of emails I'm getting at the moment. This quote is from a Scottish player who is travelling over with a group of players for the IPO.

Please, please please, if you plan to play on Oct 6th.....Get in there and register guys! It will make the tournament look a lot more appealing to all overseas players and to any Irish players that might be in two minds over whether to play or not.

It'll be the usual last minute rush ste.....I've spoken to a few lads who will be playing and they were saying sure there's ages to go yet.

I suppose I'm just panicking a bit that I will organise all these dealers and then no Irish player turn up

To be honest stephen, I want to play in this but im a lazy bastard and the thoughts of having to go and set up an account on mermaid when i dont play online and have no credit card just put me off. If there was somewhere I could meet you ( like a designated night in a casino) and just give you cash then I would play.

I know this is just me being lazy and I have no problem with that but im just letting you know how I, and Im sure many others, feel.
