disappointed to hear that, i agree with everything that been said so far. i don't think there's any doubt that he'll have huge success with whatever he decides to do next.

Sorry to hear this and best of luck Luke. We've been singing your praises for 4 years here. Ah the memories.

Luke is the reason why I always go to the Fitz to play when I'm in Dublin. He's basically like an insurance policy. I know when I'm there I have nothing to worry about because things will be taken care of in the right way and there's nowhere more important than that feeling than in a poker room and there's no other poker room where I have that sense of relief. In every other poker room in Ireland there is something about the place either big or small that annoys me. I'll probably still go to the Fitz but it just wont be the same and I'm defintely more likely to venture elsewhere in the future.

    All the best to Luke.

    Jesus, thats a shock.

Absolutely phenomenal man. As good at his job as I've ever seen in any job imho.

Best of luck wherever you move on to, and I hope very much its in the poker world.

The best of luck Luke, hope are paths cross soon again. The best cardroom boss in the business.

Luke is a huge loss to the Fitz. I'm pretty sure he will go on to bigger and better pastures. You could always be sure that if there was any dispute, Luke would make the right decision and not one person would dare argue with him.

He was also the life and soul of the blind omaha madness and ran those bigevents like no-one else can. he will be surely missed but this definetly isnt the last we heard of Luke. Thanks for all the memories and best of luck

    Tony

I absolutely agree with this; it's no exaggeration to say that Luke is the best in Europe. The Fitz won't be half the place it was without him. I remember walking into the Fitz for the first time when it was only opened a few weeks, Luke was dealing a cash game but left it to give me a tour of the casino. He has a talent for putting people at ease that few other people have. I was a regular in the Merrion at that time, but I never went back after that first night in the Fitz.

The very best of luck to Luke, and I hope he's not finished with the Dublin poker scene (although I very much doubt it).

    Derek Murray.

PS: What's going to happen with his legendary final table speech? It would be a shame not to hear that again.

i think all this Thanks for the memories is a little funny as OPR said he isnt dead or anything! he`s a great guy im sure he will land on the fitz but ive a feeling it could be something like Fitz RIP etc... he was the main reason i played there. im sure the same can be said for others.

He's not dead and the world wont stop but for a lot of people Luke and the Fitz were a combination that broke in a new generation of players. Whats being opined here is that that combination is dead and we are the poorer for it as a community. A sentiment I agree with.

On the other hand, the only constant is change. The Merrion was the home of poker before the Fitz. Before that it was the Jackpot (now reopened). Perhaps the next chapter is about to start, who knows. (I don't so please don't sms me asking me for inside info :)).

Wishing Luke well, whatever he turns his hand to next. There's always a job for a man of Luke's talent and character. Luke taught me to deal, gave me a job (twice!) and congratulated me heartily when I made those rare trips to the cash desk at the end of a tourney.

Watching his effortless dealing with players, dealers, chips, rulings, waitlists, payouts, drunks, waitresses, and all the madness that is a busy night at the Fitz all I can say is I am still in awe of this man's talent and energy to keep all that happening and still have time to speak to each punter personally.

    He's the man.

I can't see myself going to the fitz much without Luke there. I hope he opens up a new place. Poker in Ireland won't be the same until he does. Best of luck Luke.

Luke, It's a very sad time for all the poker players at the Fitzwilliam to hear of your departure. You were an inspiration to everyone. The club will never be the same without you. You will have my support in whatever you do and i hope it
will be to open your own club. Good luck in the future and thanks for all your
help and support over the years. Irene

I cant add much that has not been said already,I hope it work's out for him you cant keep a good man down.

I would be one of the new generation of players Luke 'broke in' and I have to say he made the whole casino experience a lot less intimation for a new player. This is a invaluable characteristic for a card room manager and something you just cant teach IMO.

Sorry to hear this. Luke is by far the best in the business. I can't imagine the Fitz without his presence, pink shirt and all.

    Best of luck, Luke!

Hear Hear to Irene's maiden post.

Just to add, it sure won't be the same leading for a Chinese dentist (€230, think about it!) when you're not around, Luke.

    All the best mate,

I had to post here when I heard the very bads news yesterday.....(so 'cuse the mortaler I'm comitting here)

    The Fitz without Luke
Is like United without Keano, Podge without Rodge, The Chief without K8 offsuit, the general without Ssesss, Player X without an insult, mustard without a grimace, Nicnic without cards (well maybe not) , Devore without shortstack (get a room lads) and boards.ie without the low content that actually makes the place worth a visit.....

Luke let us know where you are taking us to play poker next. I'm going to boycott (just)this weeks scalps as a small protest (my fav game)

Before I'm sent packing, good luck to all the Irish going to Vegas this year, I'll be cheering you on.

    LUKE for TAOISEACH!

Willie (Solksjaer) Clynes...Ssssshhhhhh I'm off before Lafort gets here to take a machete to my IP address.
