    Hey everyone ...

I took some pics of a 1990 Subaru Leone down in Tipp ... it's mine. I'll upload 'em later if ye like. I'm in a bit of a quandry about this car tbh ... it used to be my auld fella's. It's full of empty major packets, has 198k. miles on it, and 'lacked power' towards the end, according to him. Mind you judging by the colour of the oil, that remark could mean anything.

What do you guys think ... is this the sort of car that's at the beginning, middle or end of 'junk' phase? I'm tempted to get rid, but I can't remember the last time I saw one.

    Cheers,

    Tony.

In my garage now, being dismantled, that picture really deceives...its red rotten, no floors, fibreglass sills, drivers door fell off when opened...

The Pagoda was discovered while dredging the river Neckar somewhere in Germany. It was donated to some Merc club or other. This pic taken at the show in Essen.

..........yeah I saw that car at Essen in 2007.

Apparantly the Police divers were looking for a safe that had been stolen locally when they discovered the car. It was lifted out and upon inspection the Police desided no crime had been commited so it was sent to a local scrap yeard where it was spotted by an employee of Daimler Chrysler who contacted the German Pagoda Club. They basically saved it for posterity and it now does the rounds !

Another SL was saved, a 1990 R129 SL, by I think the US Club, it was in Death Valley, baking in a scrap yeard in the sun for 15 years.Nobody could remember why, hardly a classic but someone got a very decent car for nearly nothing. Full article in the Daimler Chrysler Classic magazine, though I havent read it yet.

    Landyaddict:

Those escort estates are in Ticknock in the Dublin mountains I think. To be exact at 53.15.05N and 06.15.05W. The two white blobs. I have no idea if they are for sale or not.

I've passed this dozens of times but never had the camera handy.

I don't know if it qualifies as a classic in the strictest sense but when was the last time you saw another?
