Has anyone had any issues using Wirecard on Dabs.ie? I remember some talk earlier that Dabs might be picky because the card is issued in Germany. I've used 3V there up until now but with Wirecard working perfectly since switching to using IBAN payments (2 more sent and showed up in 2-3 working days) I'd prefer to use it from now on.
Dabs caused me no end of trouble when I tried to set up an account. They even wanted a scanned copy of my credit card and passport ffs! Considering I was using Transactonline at the time and I needed the order urgently I gave up. Never again will I bother with them.

    It is what it's.

Used Wirecard on Dabs.ie at least 4 times last Autumn, and didn't have any problems whatsoever.

So I've been following this thread and signed up to WireCard from the start.

I deposited 6 times, each time using AIB's online "international transfer" option, first in increments of €300, until I found out that this only applied to Credit Card transfers and I could have infact just made one deposit of €2,500 which would have been my limit until I verified the account.

Out of these 6 times, I only had a problem once, unfortunately when I needed the money most, it took between 1 and 2 weeks to show up and I wasn't getting the best service in terms of responses to emails. It did show up eventually so I still had faith.

Since then, I deposited a last chunk which made me reach my exact €2,500 limit. I was a bit hesitant to verify the account as it seemed like a lot of hassle, but it was easy. I even sent off two original utility bills and asked for them back and my account was verified and the utility bills returned within a week of posting them. This was also met with timely customer service informing me of the status.

Once I found out my account was verfied, I made another transfer on Thursday last I think it was and it has shown up this morning :)

In terms of its functionality as an actual credit card, well it's great, I haven't had any issues using it anywhere (over 50 purchases from various merchants) and have also had cancelled/changed orders refunded to the card and show up in my wirecard account again with no problems.

It's a weight off my shoulders knowing it's verified now, and I trust it completely. It's a perfect solution for anyone without a credit card, just from reading experiences here and from my own, make sure you do the "International transfer" option and fill out ALL details properly through AIB's online banking and allow up to 2 weeks (it usually will arrive in about 2/3 days) for the money to show up and be usable in your wirecard account.

Only question is, I wonder what's going to happen once my card Expires in August 2009?

    They simply renew it.

Will the number stay the same? Is that what they do with normal CC's too? I know my dads nearly off by heart, don't think it's every changed :D

All they do is change the expiry date.

Just thought I'd warn people. I think the local account for Ireland may have been closed. I was about to transfer to it but checked the pdf for the local accounts and they're all gone except for one (which I think is Swiss).

They've also changed the wire transfer information page to state that an international transfer (using the Bic, IBan etc) is quicker than using the local accounts. Which is what Bond , Basquille etc said all along really

*edit* They also have a new section allowing you to register your bank account with them. Don't really understand why you would want to do this.

I've almost spent the balance on my account (last was ~€35 two weeks ago). I have €3 left but I don't think I'll be willing to top it up having read all this!

    It is what it's.

You'll be alright using the international transfer. If it is true the local accounts then they are a bit bad for letting customers know what exactly is going on re changes etc.

Like I said in my first post you can now also register your bank account with them. How this works I don't know.

I've used credit card(3V) and IBAN/BIC transfer(AIB) to deposit money, and I've not had any problems so far.
Like I said in my first post you can now also register your bank account with them. How this works I don't know.

Direct Debit, likely to be the reason, has always been listed as an option for some countries, however Ireland wasn't one of them. Similarly, they don't issue a physical (printed) mastercard to Ireland either. Has that changed? The (skimpy) FAQs seem the same.

Other than that, though, I've found it works fine for what it does - subject to the weekly deposit limit and the account balance limit.

Used it a couple of time with no issues. But I think it was 19th I transfered (BOI ONLINE) a larger sum of money than I had done in the past, and it STILL hasnt arrived at wirecard account. Getting pissed of waiting, and worried tbh.

Where the frak is my 180blips, cause it aint in either account!

is it normal that the money i have supposidly spent by buying something off the internet..is still in my wirecard account about 2 weeks after i have received the item i bought..?

has the shop got there money or does wirecard take a while to give the shops there money from me..seems wierd im sitting here with the item and my account is still the same and the shop doesnt say the order is completed

Is deposting money into the account by credit card safe? And how long does it take? This thread is making me doubt wirecard.

    Thanks!

The money is there instantly when depositing by credit card. Be careful as they have locked accounts for depositing too much by credit card.

Is the money still shown as available? If so there is nothing to stop you spending it again and when the first shop gets around to charging it they won't get any money.

Made a direct international bank transfer from BOI branch on the 15th - still hasn't shown up.

This is my first time using the wirecard service since my previous local transfer - it was 3 months before my money was returned to me that time.

Mine finally went in this evening. :) Took longer than usual though!

Folks I think the best way to handle it is to just have a buffer. I have a good bit in my account now, I don't need it for anything, If I need to buy something worth 100 euro, I'll buy it with the money that's in there and then deposit 100 euro to make up the buffer again for future purchases.

I bought some stuff from dabs with 3v but they cant give me a refund because they cant give it to expired cards, so they've had the money for a few months now.

Would wirecard work as a legit card for them to pay the credit onto ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,854 ✭✭✭✭cormie

I've had a few refunds put on my wirecard so shouldn't be a problem ;)

I've had a refund put in just a couple of days ago.

yeah the money is still shown as availble..it went through the reservation process for 7 days as it says it should..but it didnt get taken out by the shop during that time..so now its gone back to been availble to spend by me..but im just worried this will happen every time i buy something from different places and it catchs up on me and i owe loads of places money that isnt in my account..and also find it wierd that i have the item i bought a while now where they still havent got there cash from me..

maybe it gets taken out at the end of every month?

Well if the shop does not complete the transaction during the reservation period they are at fault as they then run the risk of getting declined when they go to collect later as the money is now free to be spent again. It will not put your wirecard account in the red and wirecard will not chase you. The 7 day reservation period is there to enable the merchant to collect before you can spend it again. Once the reservation period has expired the money is no longer gauranteed to them.

The merchant has an obligation to process charges quickly. If they do not they are at risk of getting burned. Being a merchant myself my bank was very quick to point out the need for daily processing of charges and failure to do so ran the risk of loosing money.

To be frank most merchants are aware of this situation and have the good business sense to process their transactions quickly.
