Bond-007 is right and is trying to help you. Use international transfer for all future transfers. It also won't say when you log in whether you need to verify or not...they should have got back to you via email. Can you give them a ring if you want to try and get the funds you're missing? 00 49 1805 94 73 22

Thanks Paul Savory Ax, I was aware he was and it was a genuine thanks. I just found that his shock at the fact someone may not be knowledgeable in this area funny. Ah you gotta love the internet :D

I will do what you said. Many thanks to you too for the advice.

Ok, I phoned them and they can't seem to find exactly where my money is, but because I used the local account he said he will have to check other details that will take some time. He promised to email me with the result. Here's hoping.

I got the impression that my account wasn't verified. For something as important as money, they really should have a tighter sytem or be better at informing the customer. I got a welcome email and no mention of further steps to use my account.

I've just noticed that my reply to Bond read a lot more sarky than I intended, so apologies if it came across that way.

Bond-007 was probably just surprised because if you'd read any of the previous pages on this thread (tough I know when it's 34 pages long) you would have seen numerous posts about how the local accounts are a disaster. I'm guessing you did the whole Wirecard thing first, and then came here when it didn't seem to work out?

I took the plunge and sent more money last week by IBAN (my first time using it) and the money showed up a little while ago (insert audible sigh of relief). It's nice when things work as advertised.

My money didn't get lost but they fobbed me off for a while in support as it took a while for the person who actually handles the transfer back to contact me or for it to be approved or something like that. Like about a month after they told me the money was transferred, I got an email asking me for IBAN details.

Last Thursday night I transferred money to their local account using Ulster bank online banking (can't do international transfers with it). Still no sign of it......getting that familiar Wirecard sinking feeling again.

Maybe it would be a good idea to add some tips to the opening post stating the problems people have had with the local accounts, solutions (like sending them your iban details for refunds), and to avoid them completely? Might help people who find this thread and start reading from the beginning as it doesn't really turn to crap until around 20 pages in.

The weird thing there is that, iirc, you have a verified account. I guess verified or not they simply don't function anymore. Might be worth pointing out to Ulster Bank that many of their competitors offer IBAN with their online banking service and that they should do likewise.

Then again if you only sent it Thursday it may be a bit early for it to show up. I sent my IBAN transfer on Wednesday (out of hours so it didn't process until the next morning) and it only arrived this evening.

The facts seem to be that if you use the international transfer, preferably with AIB or BOI online banking, Wirecard is great. If you don't however have AIB or BOI and are reliant on the local accounts then avoid it like the plague.

Just a note to anyone trying to get money back from local accounts that I have gotten my money back. I've subscribed to this thread so I'll get updates so if anyone is having problems, I'll answer them if I can.

Basically all I did was be polite and patient and they eventually got back to me about it.

At the start I had requested the money to be returned but didn't get a reply, so I send another message threatening to report them to the German regulator. I stated in the email that I knew others had but that I didn't want to if it was possible to solve the issue without doing so.

I got a reply stating the transfer was initiated. This was a lie however, as it wasn't initiated. I got a reply two weeks later requesting information about my account so that they could intitiate the transfer. I provided that information and 3 days later the money was back in my account.

Can anyone who has had their account verified explain what I need to do with the attached form? I mean do I just have to fill out the "Copy for bank" page and send it to Wirecard? Or do I fill in the two pages with somebody from AIB and let them keep the "copy for bank". I take it I only fill in the top half by the way?

And then I just send a copy of my passport stamped and signed by a Garda in with it?

Yeah the main problem with the returns process seems to be that the money has to be wired back to the original sender. It can't be returned via the local account. Thing is, Wirecard don't have your IBAN and BIC codes and they seem to be slow in realising that they need to ask you for these. So when requesting a return of money stuck in limbo, provide your IBAN and BIC details and (I would hope) the process should be a lot smoother.

I filled out one copy and sent it to Wirecard. Presumably you can do what you like with the other.

Getting verified doesn't seem to have made much difference though. My money has gone missing again. This is the fourth time. When I contacted them about it they wanted a copy of the bank payment slip. Unfortunately I worked out how to do domestic transfers with my Ulster Bank online banking so I don't have any physical evidence of making the deposit to the local account.

I just can't see what keeps going wrong...why does it go through sometimes and other times get lost? Why does sending them a copy of the payment slip help them? Surely all they have to do is check the account on their computer? It beggars belief.

I see it as they do not have someone monitoring the local accounts daily/12 hourly etc. There most be errors in them reading off the wirecard ac number from their local accounts and transferring to the actual wirecard accounts. Basic human error. Some other guy could be getting your funds.

Yeah, avoid the local accounts like their the plague, aids and a heroin addict trying to rob you combined!

Thanks, so I just fill out everything between "I hereby apply for the opening...." and "please send the signed request..." and then they do the rest? When it says beside signature "place, date" what does it mean place? Do I just put in the town I live and the date or what?

So I just send off the bank copy filled in and they fill in the bit at the top near the logo and then everything under where I signed and then just get a garda to stamp my passport and that's it?

You need to get a copy of your passport endorsed. It lists those who can endorse it somewhere else. Not sure if a Garda is listed but I think someone else here had a Garda endorse it. I had a solicitor do it. I don't think they're that strict on things though.

I'm trying to set up Wirecard with International Payments and BOI 365 online. What do I enter for beneficiary's address and beneficiary's bank address? Also is Wirecard's BIC WIREDEM1 or WIREDEM1XXX?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,472 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

Those fields show auto fill once you have entered the IBAN and BIC. They do on AIB.

Has anyone had any issues using Wirecard on Dabs.ie? I remember some talk earlier that Dabs might be picky because the card is issued in Germany. I've used 3V there up until now but with Wirecard working perfectly since switching to using IBAN payments (2 more sent and showed up in 2-3 working days) I'd prefer to use it from now on.

I haven't read all of this thread so aploogy if it is answered but how do you activate the account with the number received in the text? Emailed them but no reply yet. And will amazon uk take this?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 342 ✭✭masterwriter

I assume the funds are lost to you and go to 3V if you don't redeem.
Even if you do redeem 2.50 goes to them, rip off
