I was so sorry to learn that the Art In Action event which is held annually in Townley Hall, Drogheda, has been cancelled this year. It was a bit expensive for admission.

The annual Dublin Sketchers exhibition opened last night - a huge variety of work at reasonable prices! If you are looking for a piece - I'd get over there! We're delighted to have such amazing artists in our group and are very proud of what they have achieved for this exhibition. It was hard work but last night proved that it is worth it! Everyone welcome to drop in and take a look!

    Reviving this thread . . .
It is surprising how much interest there is in bodypainting in Ireland, considering how few people seem to be actively involved.
Cork has seen an explosion of interest in the last year since Nina Moore gave a free workshop for artists interested in trying it out. The results were extraordinary. This was in connection with the World Naked Bike Ride in July 2010, when all of those artists, plus 6 others painted intricate designs on many of the riders. The eight people who attended Nina's session, all working professional artists, in turn passed on the technique to many others, with the result that over 100 artists and models have attended sessions over the last 15 months.
The next bodypainting session in Cork is on Saturday 16th July 2011, starting at 12 noon. This is to paint 50 of the people who are taking part in the World Naked Bike Ride in Cork. At 6.00pm that evening, the artists' work goes on public display in the city centre, as the painted models will be cycling naked for over an hour, as part of the protest cycle. This transient art installation is a first for Ireland. The standard is very high, and already the Cork ride has gained a reputation for the artistic excellence of its bodypainting. See the online version of Irish newspapers for Tuesday 21st July 2010 for examples.
If you are interested in taking part in Cork's session on 16 July, the organisers can be contacted MOD SNIP - CONTACT VIA PM ONLY. and if you are interested in bodypainting in Dublin, there will be some people to paint at the Dublin Naked Bike Ride on Friday 15th July. MOD SNIP. CONTACT VIA PM ONLY.

Conceptart.org are having a sale on their downloads and prerecorded onlines streaming classes. Their each which works out as €5.60 through paypal.
Some of them are quite expensive normally so it's well worth a look.

EDIT: Sorry! Forgot the link: http://theartdepartment.org/store

Horse & June, the vintage boutique has opened up their studio to private sewing lessons.

These lessons are catered to those at any stage of knowledge whether it be absolute beginner or intermediate. The best thing about it is that the class is all yours and don’t need to try to keep up with any other students. All lessons will be done on a a domestic machine just like in their own home and if you even have your own machine, you can bring that too.

Lessons are €25 per hour including materials (not including materials needed for the final “from scratch project” as this depends on what you would like to make). There are no set amount of classes you have to take so contact me for your first, see how you go and take it from there! Classes are available at any time after 6pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and anytime on Sundays.

You’re in safe hands too, a fashion design graduate from Parsons the Newschool of Design in New York will not set you wrong!

For more info email horseandjune@live.com SNIP.

    That's a fantastic idea!

But 25 euro per hour is WAY too expensive even if materials are included.

Grafton Fashion Academy or even adult classes at the local secondary school offer much better value.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5 gep2011

Grafton Academy and adult classes at the local secondary schools don't offer ONE-TO-ONE lessons.

Private classes where you are the only student means much greater learning potential and direct teacher to student attention. This is why it is €25.
