    although it severly weakens Sunday's low, which is interesting possibly a change to slightly cooler conditions after that

    Warning of Severe Weather.


    General :

    An intense winter storm is developing in Mid Atlantic today Wednesday and will move northwards towards Iceland. It will pass c. 600 nm WEST of Ireland later tonight and will introduce very strong and very blustery southerly winds for tonight and much of tomorrow. A spell of heavy rain will cross the country during Thursday, and very rough south to southwest seas will develop for tomorrow also.


    Warning Details :


    Wind : Southerly winds will increase 45 to 60 km/h tonight, and continue for much of the day tomorrow Thursday. Gusts of 100 to 130 km/h will occur, - with the highest gusts expected in exposed parts of Connacht, West Ulster and West Munster.


    Valid 30/0000 to 30/1600.


    Rainfall : Between 20 and 40 mm of rain are expected, with the highest totals expected to occur over parts of Munster and South Leinster during daylight hours.

    Valid 30 /0800 to 30 / 1900


    Seas : Very rough or high south to southwest seas will affect our Coasts on Thursday also.


    Valid 30 /0600 to 30 / 2400


    Looks like it is going to get rough.

    Stormy conditions will spread to all areas later tonight and into tomorrow with gusts reaching 80mph in western coastal areas. Widespread gusts of 60mph elsewhere...

    It's reletively calm everywhere now. The wind forecast for Dublin on xweather is for winds stronger than the Southern and Northern coasts and the only place with higher winds are coastal parts of the west of Ireland and Scotland. The current forecast(right of the picture) gives a mean speed of 45mph for Dublin. I don't really know how this one will turn out but it's certainly forecast to be bad

    It's getting seriously gusty here at the moment

    I note that Shannon Airport has recorded a gust of 41 knots and Malin head has recorded a gust of 53 knots.

    Finally getting a reasonable blow here :D

    Almost a full gale, mean up to 38mph gust to 60mph

    Highest of year.

    And very mild, 12C all night.

    Mean down to 26mph.

    Mean since midnight 28mph. That's high!

    Kilkenny had near gale and it's very wet at Valentia, 15mm past 2 hours.

    I think Belmullet has recorded max gust so far, 72mph.

    Oddly Dublin AP max gust past 2 hours has been 38mph.

    I'm still getting gusts above 45mph regularly with mean above 30mph most of time.

    Another non event here,max gust i recorded was 32mph and that was 3.30am this morning.
    Rain well more drizzle with 0.3mm.
    Im at work at the coast and some places are dry.Gusty winds but not bad at all and im exposed to the elements.(no pun intended).:p

    Nowhere near as bad as what Mothman was describing here, max gust was 46mph, and max 10 minute mean was 20mph, 15.2mm so far
