Anyone come accross this station it just plays back to back 80's music a great selection from The Smiths to Lloyld Cole Talk Talk, Def Leppard Whitney Houston Human League Adam and the ants anyway you get the idea, no annoying DJ's or commercials a jingle for the station about every 5 songs, sound quality is great. I think it might be pirate, but its a welcome arrival for me and long may it last :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,486 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

WTF why is this on this thread I've nothing to do with REAL80's radio just asking if anyone knows anything about it please put this out on its own thread or advise why not!

What is your stance on Shell to Sea and Occupy.?

How much taxes do the management of UCC 98.3 pay per annum?

Probably not much tax being paid from this Campus operation, Flutt. More likely our tax dollars are aiding it's existence in some shape or form. Maybe someone could clarify the funding model of UCC's campus radio station.

Every student pays €2150 per annum, it's a lot to be saved if you're on the minimum wage. DJs on Campus Radio give their time and energy for free to contribute to the college environment, same as I give quite a lot of time to the student magazine of UCC. The notion that someone must be paying tax to have an opinion on anything is ridiculous and ignores the dire situation Ireland is in economically.

Light, heat, upkeep of the studio equipment and transmission - who pays?

The position of manager of the Campus Radio. Is it a salaried position? Who pays?
Is there a grant from the College? Is that public funding?

I'm genuinely curious. Recieveing public money through the college is fine by me. I'd like to know.

Me too Timmy, no problems with that, though ,like yourself ,I'd like to see a breakdown of funding.

maybe it's just me, but I hate seeing my tax eurons going to fund a bunch 'career activists' .

what about helping out the old and infirm in the area hmmm... no 'publicity in that I guess.

Hi all! Ben O'Callaghan and I do a show on Wednesday mornings from 8-9 called the Wednesday Music Library on NUI Galway's student station, Flirt 101.3 FM. As it says, we present a music library program, so the genres are plentiful, it must be said. Literally, anything from Jazz, Hip Hop, Metal, Alternative, Electronic, Rock, Experimental, ANYTHING!

You can listen on FM radio at Fq. 101.3 at said time around the Galway county region, and of course online at www.flirtfm.ie/listen.
Although, if you do miss a show you can always listen back on my Mixcloud page, where I try and upload them as fast as I can; this weeks show was up in an hour! :)

Here is this weeks show, it's quite odd in format compared to other weeks as it's split up into two halves, my co-presenter, Ben, presented the first 30 or so minutes, and I did the other half. Ben brought in local band, Floods Of Fears for a very interesting interview, it must be said - then I just played music. It's as simple as that :D

It's all in my sig anyway...

Everyone on the station is sounding great and fresh, Alan Murphy who does the late show (monday- Friday 10pm) is going to be the next big thing, I think he will be the next young presenter that Today fm will snap up.

    Hello,
I have created 4 radios stations, namely “The Best 80’s & 90’s”, “Classic Rock”, “100% Hit Music” and “The Rock”.
All the stations are commercial free music channels.

According to your comments I will create more stations in the future!!!
The goal is to give people the power to share not some specific songs but full radio stations according to their tastes!

I hope you will enjoy them!
