    That's not what karma is.

I had been happily unaware of this up until Bluewolf quoting it.

All i can say is, of course, your right, in the whole history of the universe absolutely everyone has always received exactly what they deserve.

How could i be so foolish???

Isn't karma when you do something bad and it comes back to bite you in the next life, not this life?

Karma means action. Actions have various consequences. Some are short reaching - in this life - and some are longer reaching - another life.

Yes. I think you should talk to a professional before you seriously hurt someone else or perhaps even harm yourself as a result of your stupid and petty thirst for vengence.:(

    You'll be in my prayers...

Interesting theory... but I think they tend to act on emotion rather than brains. Certainly, my reasons for not going after revenge are not fear of consequences.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    hahahha excellent!!

personally i think that whatever you want to call it, Karma or whatever, i definitely beleive that what goes around comes around. In the good and the bad sense.

i think seeking revenge is not only petty but also more self-destructive than anything.

if you can manage to feel "love", so to say, for every person that you would otherwise feel anger towards or hate or a negative emotion, you will in fact be a much better person in yourself. for those who think I'm waffling hippy ****e, it's been proven that people who think "positive thoughts" come out better in the long run for everything (health etc..)

    thats my humble opinion anyway!

To hell with revenge, TBH. It's for sad, petty, bitter people who have nothing and no-one better to turn to when someone screws them over.

I'm far more inclined to take action against someone who professes their support for revenge than against someone who did something shitty but doesn't believe in revenge.

Pffft @ the 'rule of three'. All rules of three. People citing such 'rules' sound utterly brainwashed.

Sarky and LadyJ are dead right. I feel sorry for anyone who is controlled by revenge.

I think that the best form of revenge is to move on and be a sucess and let karma deal with the rest...having said that I have been genuinelly upset when bad things have happened to people who hurt me (it was not me!)

Destroy their job, relations with their family, destroy their possetions & befriend them.

When they come to tell you their problems as the last person they can turn to.... Punch them in the nose and close the door.

    But in reality

directly after an incident, Id be thinking Im gonna get that ba$tard, but normally I calm down and dont bother.

i did take a teachers bike apart and put it back together on the canteen roof,
(3 stories high with only a small opening to get out onto the roof)
    Does that count?;)

    Just remembered something insane!

Went to college with this lunatic who (after being dumped by him) tampered with her ex's CAO form and put down forestry or something. He was about 22 at the time and had finally decided what he wanted to do in college and she fcuked it up for him.

    Now,she told me this herself,but it could be bullsh!t because,like,I say,she was a lunatic. However,what a b!tch! Now that was uncalled for. I mean,her boyf was a right cúnt but still...bit extreme.

I wouldnt mind this thread having some more valid discussion (read no personal attacking)

Someone mentioned that revenge is a normal emotional response that shouldn't be repressed. After a few minutes thought, I agreed with that.

*some ****ing bird in my chimney screaming for 20 mins now, im gonna kill it i swear. It even woke me up ffs.*

Back to point, After more thinking I concluded that, in my opinion revenge desire is a way your body simply tells you that you feel like you were wronged but you didn't resolve the situation or protect yourself from it happening/(happening again). Do people agree with this? It seems like good natural warning system imo.

If this is the case, then basing my memories on this, I dont ever remember feeling the need to take revenge for an issue when I've properly confronted the offending person about it. If somebody pisses me off, I usually get angry and feel petty, but when I confront them maturely and directly and then resolve the situation to a good level, I usually dont feel the need to be petty or revenge at all. I guess then that I think revenge is only something people take when they have not resolved a situation satisfactorially enough for thier.... emotional self? Like revenge only stays a desire when their mind/body/etc still feel like the situation wasn't resolved? get me?

Im still thinking about the what revenge is when it comes to a situation where the other person wont let you confront them so there is not available resolution opportunity..thats a toughy.
PS: people say my writing sucks so forgive the lack the readability, i tried!

    get over yourself!

And none of this "it takes a bigger man to walk away" crap!! The reason most people dont seek revenge is because they are scared
revenge is petty. just because you feel the need to act like a child doesn't mean everyone else does. if someone wrongs me, they get added to my "bad people" list and i just do my best to avoid them from then on so they can't so it again.

Now then, as i said at the in an earlier post i am genuinely curious about a few of the responses in this thread. To be honest, the people who assume they would not seek out revenge have been put into one set of stereotype in my head, while the people who would seek out revenge have been put into another and as such i apologise for that. It's just the way my thoughts have ended up wandering on this subject and i am curious to see if i am right, or wrong.

First of all, to those who have posted that the would seek revenge in this thread. All your threads seem to be aimed at "the dreaded ex" or at least the assumption that some kind of physical or emotional advancement was spurned or a relationship came to an end in a way that you felt was bad for you. Am i right with this, no one else seems to have offered any reason other reason for seeking revenge.

To the group who would NOT seek out revenge as it is offered in this thread ( i.e due to a relationship going wrong ) , is this once again the only reason you could think of for needing revenge? Has nothing else ever occured to you that would make you want to seek vengeance for something?

Now then, lets look at the meaning of the word revenge

revenge : to exact punishment or expiation for a wrong on behalf of, esp. in a resentful or vindictive spirit - as we can see, the very use of the word would indicate, but not provide the absolute proof, that the action taken was vindictive....it should be noted however that vindictive does not automatically imply petty.

I have sought revenge at 3 times over the course of my life. All these occured back in my darker days, when i was, quite simply, a different person to who i am now. It should be noted that i believe in revenge in it's finest form. Only sought after a very, very serious crime has been comitted against me or one of mine.

On the first occasion, a good friend of mine, who had finally taken the steps and found the courage to break up with her physically abusive boyfriend was beaten by him to pretty much within an inch of her life.

On the second, a friend of mine was shot and killed.

On the third, a friend of mine was stabbed and killed.

Now then, while the above three instances are pretty extreme, and i would never wish there happening upon anyone....can you be so certain, that over the course of your live nothing will ever happen that would make you wish for revenge?

Can you be so certain, that to wish a return of harm upon another will always seem petty to you?

Act like a child!? Right, obviously nobody has ever done something so bad it destroyed your life or your familys life then?

    Bad people list!? Wtf?

Apart from the ex thing, the other thing I thought about was the death penalty thread on humanities. It seems a lot of people in favour of the death penalty are more concerned with getting revenge and punishing criminals rater than seeking justice,or exploring a real solution to the problem at hand.

Now,I can understand completely why you sought revenge on the three ocasions mentioned and I can't say that if I had been in your situation I wouldn't have wanted to do the same, but I know I would not have done it.

It's just not me. I'm sure I might want to go out and seek vengeance on those people but I would hope that someone would talk sense into me or that I would be able to stop myself.

I'm not condemning your actions but
it's just not my style to get my own back,as it were, even for something as terrible as what you've mentioned.

Not proud of it but it was my ex friiend. Kept on chatting up my gf at the time, trying to score her. I found out and just saw the red mist. Got a lump hammer from my house and went after him with hit, breaking both his wrists.

Not as cured as I thought then. :(

I'd love to hear your justification for how destroying someone else's (family's) life to get back at them makes you a better person, either than those who wronged you or anyone else who might pick up the pieces and get on with life.

Ah, only a fool would think that some is condeming them simply by having a different opinion! And I might be ugly, but my momma did't raise no fool! :)

A very well put answer, thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Dude...Sorry for them circumstances.

As i said above in my post i believe that revenge is just unresolved emotional responses to a hurtful/oppressing incident. Though I admit I was thinking in far smaller and easier terms than those above. Like getting dumped, a friend doing something really mean, someone just being cruel etc...

I always know in my heart though that regardless of my emotional development which i've worked very hard on and any morals i have. If ANYONE be it like a stranger did certain things to people like my mom, close friends, family or my children(non existent atm). I would completely take revenge without mercy or doubt. I think its sick as hell but If somebody touch my child or loved one in a really bad way, I would forego all consequences and exact revenge like the devils locomotive. I'd be smart enough to wait a while though....I really dont like the thought of it at all to be honest. I just know certain actions to me basically neutralise a persons rights to anything.
I'm not saying revenge still isnt just a repressed emotional anguish, im just saying at a certain point in the extreme, I would accept it anyway.

Do some of you non revenge seeking advocates believe that in the EXTREME circumstances you could hold back on it? I know for a fact some of my friends believe that they would never kill somebody regardless of what was done...mostly they are female i should add though.

No, i would get revenge on the individual, not his family. Im not an evil person and I dont believe in karma either. And i dont think for a second it makes me a better person than anyone else and I also dont think it makes me any worse than anyone else
