Dunno if this is of any interest here, but I saw the other post about Scalextric when I was doing some browsing & thought I’d post these pics here.

My 7 year old son and I are building a permanent slot car track in our attic room. I was on EBay during the summer & spotted a 1979 Matchbox Powertrack 4000 Le Mans for sale. I had that exact same set when I was a kid… one thing led to another & I bought a 2nd set (for spares & extra track) then some more cars & then a lap counter too.

At that stage it would been a waste not to go the whole hog & set up a permanent layout. We’ve been tipping away at his over the past few weeks & are hoping to get it finished & operational before Christmas. We’ve never attempted anything like this before, so any help / tips greatly appreciated.

One thing we’re struggling with is how to keep the “grass” properly bonded to the board / paper macher landscape. I was recommended to use 3M Spray Mount… it does work… but we still seem to have a lot of loose particles & it’s quite messy. Is there some kind of clear bonding product I can put over all of this to keep it in place?

This is my first a piper cub with a few battle scars.

Next is a spitfire hanging in my son's room, I haven't had the courage to fly this yet, as I love the look of them and would hate to kill it.:)

This is a Riva I started to build.

But I put it on hold and went and built one full scale to give me some practice for the model

This is the kit I got it is by "Amati" and can be used as an RC it's 1:10 scale and is 85 cm long,

What kind of grass are you using?
flock or mat?
I am (was) and architectural model maker and we use the flock (bag of loose grass) on our landscapes. Get some dulux postal green gloss paint and spread it fairly thick where ever you want grass, then using a sieve sprinlke a thick layer flock over the painted area. Then place a sheet of blank paper over the grass and using the palm of your hand press the grass into the paint (try not to disturb the grass to much). leave to dry over night then get a hoover with a sock shoved up the tube and hoover any loose grass up. The sock will catch any loose grass which can be reused later. You may need to empty the sock several times before you finish hovering because when it fill up it blocks the tube. If you paint the base with a matt brown paint before the green paint you can leave mud patches by jst not painting with the green.

6 Volt battery is mounted behind the camera, the normal battery config for the tank is 3 x 1.5 V AAA batteries totalling 4.5 Volts - the thing won't move with this, well not very far.

I used the 3g on the 500 for a while, but changed to the new futaba cgy750. I only got the 700 a month ago, and got a cgy750 for it. The cgy feels really good!
