That is wicked awesome. I bet it's easier to stay on after a few pints too.

EDIT: oh, but no mudguards on the back wheels? I bet there's a lot of conflicted emotions about whether to draft you in the rain.

that front brake is awfully weird looking

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭abcdggs

looks like two canti brakes (one in front of the fork and one behind), legally speaking there has to be two brakes on it

Does this rule only apply to freewheel bikes?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭abcdggs

no, but in the case of a fixed gear bike the fact that the drive train can be used to slow the bike it is interpreted as a brake

Legally? I know in Berlin they banned brakeless fixed-gears, but apparently they're still legal here, as you see them everywhere.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,831 ✭✭✭abcdggs

in some states in america, the drive train isn't considered a brake. brakeless fixies are illegal in ireland too, but i can't imagine a garda doing anythign about it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 210 ✭✭fixie

im 99% sure the law goes something like this
a bike with a fixed drive requires at least one brake....BUT...according to folens the fixed gear is a brake :D so its legal! and anyway the guards dont care!

pretty sure the first one implies the use of one brake other than that supplied by the drive train... but as you said it really means nothing because there is absolutely no enforcement.

maybe thats it?id show you the thread on dfgss but its down again:mad:
    or can you access it???????.........

Geared bikes need two brakes and fixed gears need one according to the law.

  • Registered Users Posts: 302 ✭✭steinone

Lets not get into this, its been done and ended.. Well it hasn't but you get the point.

The fixed gear isn't a brake. It needs a fixed gear AND a brake to be legal.

If Rock Racing put as much effort into securing a license and paying their riders as they did into bike design they might be doing better.

I'd ride the white one at a push. I'd only ride the red one if I was being paid to ride it.

My first thought upon seeing the bikes was and Angel/Devil theme. The red and black one is like the antichrist of bikes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 154 ✭✭morninwood

I'd love to have a closer look at the black and red one in the background.

The bikes don't do anything for me, very busy. Their fixed ones look better I think although I would want drops. Belt drive!
