Yeah it was at evens three weeks back but at the time I laid the bet it was also the around the time that there were online articles about US secret service activity at a Scottish airport near to his golf course over there, media speculation was rife that he might go golfing in Scotland. I was nearly getting convinced by it myself but had a rethink. Soon after Nicola Sturgeon came out and said playing golf is not an essential activity and basically that he wasnt welcome there during a pandemic.

Florida and Mar a Lago was always his most likely destination anyway, he spent practically every weekend there during his presidency. After I laid it the odds went down to 4/7 about a week later and then on the 17th they went down again to 1/10. The bet then really became about if he would make it to Florida by 12pm which thankfully he did with an hour to spare.

Bluebird BO6810 Dub-Keflavik left Dublin 75 mins ago and is squawking the 7's just northwest of the outer Hebrides. It has descended to FL10 and has turned SE and heading for Scotland

it's maintaining level flight and 350kts so looks ok. Track suggests heading towards Aberdeen or Edinburgh (likely)

Ya, it's a total thrash site, rag "journalism". Their formula is to take a non story from social media and add sensationalism and unfounded, unresearched claims. Then get an intern who hasn't got the faintest understanding of the subject to put the "story" together.
The worst part of it is that it obviously generates traffic from the public who take it as Gospel.

TF-BBN had the issue and remained on the ground in ABZ until 2000 last night, then positioned ABZ-EMA at FL100. Back in service this morning operating EMA-LGG.

TF-BBK flew EMA-ABZ-KEF-EMA yesterday after the incident.

Not sure if it still happens but there used to be a nightly flight from East Midlands in a similar aircraft, think it did Douglas either before or after Dublin too. That was known as a “bank flight”, basically financial and legal paperwork as far as I understand it (which isn’t a whole lot to be fair).

Maybe after Brexit they don’t send paperwork through the UK anymore? Or maybe it’s totally unrelated.

Saw the occasional virgin 787 descend thru the clouds on approach to dublin earlier, out of curiosity I looked up fr24 to see where else it had been recently. Anyone shed any light on possible reason for it to do a return lhr-eve run, eve being Harstad in the far north of Norway. Surely not big enough for a cargo flight?

Virgin have been flying into Dublin with a 787 for freight ops

A350/B787 are great high value freighters due the low fuel costs

My query is why a 787 flight from london to a small regional airport in northern norway? I'm doubtful that there was a freight load going either direction that needed such a large aircraft

Just flew into Luton, the airspace is so empty, literally didn’t hear another plane since the French FIR.

It's all a bit dire, UK traffic is about 20% of 2019 currently and Saturday evenings/Sunday mornings are particularly dead.
LTN was the second busiest in the UK yesterday with 65 movements, a normal Saturday in January would be around 280.

I might go an hour or 2 now without talking to a single crew. It is bleak. Traffic is going down too due countries bringing in even stricter travel requirements. Everyone is pretty down. New variants, lockdowns with no end in sight, vaccine delays. I think the hope that we might get a decent summer in the industry has been crushed in people.

My thoughts exactly. The new year was looking positive. Last 2-3 weeks have crushed that hope.

A Dash 8 flew in to Dublin this morning from Iceland and is now going south over France. Would that be a new aircraft delivery coming from Canada to a customer?

I had to laugh, when our 2nd crew called for start, they were told that we had a one hour delay due to SLOT TIME. In that time I literally didn’t see one other aircraft move in Luton.

I assumed that the quietness on the European frequencies was due to CPDLC-ATN, but I had expected London to be busier.

FR24 is often guessing with destinations for cargo aircraft as their schedules are less predictable than passenger flights.

That’s a regular (almost daily?) flight into Shannon.
