Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He wouldn't have to -- the issue he's describing is a well-known Madcatz 360 PCB problem.

Usually it's the roundhouse button that goes though, not heavy punch, isn't it?

    Ah, you're right.

    Reading comprehension FAIL.

Instead of going for a full new button, I'd just buy new microswitches -- cheaper & smaller for shipping.

Could just be a loose quick disconnect or something as well right?

Ahh that expains alot. My roundhouse button just decides to stop working about once a week.
Changed qd's and button and it still happens.
first 4 times i completely changed quick dissconect and it was working again.
have since found that plugging stick out and back is what makes it work

Must be a pcb problem so

**** sake, order cancelled and now it turns out the stick isn't in stock on which is why we were having such trouble ordering it. This is despite both the Black and White version showing as In stock on their website.

Just ordered from here and paid via Paypal. Came to £125.39 inc. delivery which is pretty good all things considered. I'll let you know if/when it arrives. :)

EDIT: *sigh* And they're sold out too as of 2pm. :'(

I just ordered from here now. It seems to be either here or GameGears :o

There were 4 available when I ordered and now they're 3 so they win the "At least the website is showing the ****ing stock correctly" award. :)

Dunno why you're complaining Farz, you already HAVE one of the top sticks.

Although I can understand that you've caught the fever.

You'll want to get a custom to outdo Ry by the end of this year, mark my words. ;)

    *edit*

And if you want to try something different:
Buy a Qanba stick -- full Sanwa, well-made, heavy.
Shipping will be killer but at those prices, it's the same deal.

    *edit EDIT*
SOME of the Qanba sticks are wireless.

Ended up being €170 and some change when everything was taken into consideration. If you're stuck for money then just go for the Round 2 from Qfonic, but if you want the S then I'd recommend PureBuy.

Looking to buy my first fightstick. I'd class myself as an intermediate player at fighting games. I tend to beat my friends at them and I hold my own online, though I don't win all the time.

    What would you guys recommend?
The main fighting game I play is Blazblue: Continuum Shift but also a bit of Tekken 6. I've never been that big of a Street Fighter person.

    > Inb4 ****storm. :p

Also for someone who's never played the MvC series, would you recommend buying 3?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 25,868 Mod ✭✭✭✭Doctor DooM

Madcatz Standard edition if you don't have money, Madcatz Tournament Edition if you do.

It's just a classy piece of equipment. There's alternatives but they're not really "better".

    MvC3 is great fun imo.

I thought it was funny. Not worth that extra click but funny nonetheless.

While I'm here, if anyone has a non-standard stick they are looking to sell, hit me up. I would be interested, I'm looking to build a collection, so I'm never going to pay the best price but if you're stuck for buyer, I can be talked into near anything.

Is this a "strange/unique sticks" arms race? :D

IIRC it would be a 3-way tie with us 2 & PPC so far.
And Doom can have a "I have too many JLFs in my house" prize, too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,022 ✭✭✭Naphiel

Was afraid it'd cost that much.
Guess I just got to suck it up and be willing to put that much in if I want one.
Are they easy to customise? In regards to design templates and such.

PPC wins dude. He just wins.

Yes they are very easy to customise. There's templates online and at it's most basic, you shop up a template, print it off and stick it on the stick (hehe)

Others can give you a better idea of what to do but that's pretty much it.

Are the four biggest buttons on the left (4th being the bottom one) for movement?

Really nice stick btw, how much did that cost all together?

I try not to think too hard about the cost of sticks -- mainly because making a stick takes so long, and rewards so little, you may as well have been sitting on the dole...

Reminds me of the little guy on the left:

Not sure if it's been mentioned already in the thread but at the moment Gamestop have Tekken 6 with the Hori Fight Stick for 39.99.

Might be a good entry model for people who are yet to buy a fight stick. Picking it up myself.

 I have both of those for my C64.

Pretty sure I have 2 of the black and yellow one.

Bit of a techie question, not sure really where to ask but

My XBL guide button on my TE has stopped responding, I dont think this can be reseated like the buttons it they come loose. All other buttons are functioning normally. What I'm wondering is, in anyones experience is this the PCB on its way out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,731 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Guide button uses a membrane switch mechanism -- does the button feel spongy, or soft to return after a press?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,170 ✭✭✭Sagat06

No, it feels the same as always. It worked intermittently on Saturday and then bang on Sunday just stopped.

    I like it.

hey just lookin some sites where i could pick up a 360 TE, most places i check have no stock or are ridiculously priced.

    BUDGET 100 BRITISH POUNDS

I think you need to look specificially for the round 1 TE, the original one with the white bevelling. They tend to be around the 100 mark whilst Round 2s and Super ones tend to be 150 ish.

Just fyi, back seat modding is a big no no on boards.

I'm happy enough for the odd joke long as people are getting their answers (which to my knowledge they are).
