Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

When filling out the application form I didn't really map my experience to EO competencies. I just outlined experience. Will this be a problem. My application form would indicate that I've caried out project management tasks for example but I didn't go into too much detail.

Id say you're grand. It's pretty much at interview stage that they look for examples of the competencies

I've just completed interview and Etray for 2016 panel (It's still open. Not due to run out until April 19) .
I didn't refer to any competencies in my application form. They look for these at interview stages.
I applied for 2018 panel too. God loves a trier...

That is good to know re 2016 panel! I know the internal competition have started so I thought that perhaps the open comp will be starting soon and started working on my competencies so that it is ready but perhaps I shouldn't have if it ain't gonna be until after April 2019? You applied for 2018 panel, so the application form ain't based on competencies like it is for internal comp?

No it's just your previous employment history and current role etc.
Was the same as 2016. I think there will be a lot coming up but they are still interviewing for the 2016 panel even this week. Crazy I know! I was interviewed on the 20th and I think they finish on the 7th so that's quite a few people. I suppose it all depends how many will be successful at interview...

Hi could you explain what you mean by this? I’ve applied for this- are you saying we should receive something back by 6th September?

In the pdf which was attached to the application it said if you haven't received an email regarding the next questionnaire stage by the 6th of September to contact Public Jobs. I haven't received anything yet as well.

Are you talking about the pdf application form? that asked your educational and work history? I re-read that and it didnt say that. I'm sorry for the questions I just dont want to miss anything.

No, there was a separate information booklet which you could download. It explained the whole process and you didn't need to enter anything to it.

On September 6th, we should all get a link to the psychometric tests to do at home within a certain window of time.

    Just got email:
I refer to your application for the above named competition. The Stage 1 online assessment will now take place next week, from 10th - 14th September 2018.
You will be issued familiarisation material in the coming days.

Great! Another week to practice. :-)

I got that message too. That was the first message I received about it. Had they sent an email previously with an earlier date. Was there practice material with the first email or will it be included with the message I get next week, do you know?

No you will enter at the bottom of the scale

That was the only message I got too. They should be sending another one out before the weekend with the familiarisation material if it starts from Monday.

I wonder all the parts together in stage 1 this time around, verbal, numerical and assessment questionnaire. The last times its been the assessment questionnaire part 1a first and then the verbal and numerical part 1b shortly afterwards.

Isn't it the personality questionnaire and situational judgement test next week and depending on that result to be followed by tests in Dublin?

No, the only way would be if your CO salary was bigger than the starting EO salary which won't be the case after just 1 year

No I think it’s all 3. All the tests I’ve done have been:

    Stage 1
Unsupervised situational judgement, verbal and numerical

If you pass that, you get called for supervised in PAS (Stage 2) but only do the verbal and numerical - your scores from Situational Judgement carry forward.

Shortlisting of application forms may happen after that.

Then if you’re successful you get called to PAS to do interview and E-tray in batches. (They’re still Interviewing People from the 2016 competition so even if you don’t get called in the first few batches you still have a good chance of getting through.)

I could be wrong but this is the way it has happened in the past.

I’m due to get my CO LSI next year - if I got EO, would they take those 2/3 years into consideration, so would I go up the scale more?! They say increment in aggregate (I think).

Yes I believe it does however if you start at a higher scale than EO at Point one you will experience a delay on getting your first increment until someone who started the same time as you gets to a comparable salary. I believe thats how it works but don't quote me on it

Just be careful doing the online testing on work computers as some firewalls dont allow the test site to work properly.

Yeah, same issue. Their system seems to be a bit haywire lately and it's going to be down for maintenance all weekend, so hopefully they sort it out today!

There is no Numerical testing mentioned in the familiarisation material, does anyone know if this come at a later stage in the assessment process? Don't have booklet to hand. Tks

From my reading of it, we just have to do the assessment questionnaire next week. The maths and English bits will follow.

    Hi all,

So I lost out by one point in the 2016 EO competition on the numerical test (supervised one)but passed the earlier stages of assessment. Anyone know if you can carry over previous results to this campaign? I thought i has read somewhere on the public jobs website that you could do this if applying for the same competition or similar. Their website is down until Sunday for maintenance so cant check it out . Have the first assessment next week for this one. Thanks

2016 competition? Honestly- not a snowballs chance in hell.
    Nice try though.........
I'd love to carry my last online testing to the current competitions I'm in- but its not going to happen.......

If your score in various sittings of the online testing differs by more than a set amount- there is an automatic assumption that cheating of one form or another has occurred...........

I'm specatacular at the numerical tests online- but struggle with the verbal- I did fairly decent at the last verbal (some guessing was involved)- and would love to carry it for future tests- however, it would be remiss of PAS to allow me to do so............

I only sat the test earlier this year though so think its if you sat the test in the last 12 months or not. But I'll still sit the assessments again just curious if this is the case and I cant check with their website down... its bugging me is all!

I don't have access to my inbox on public jobs but I tried your link. I got into it but it doesn't seem like a full example. There were 3 questions at the start and then one scenario. I would have thought there should be more to it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 890 ✭✭✭doc22

They might carry over scores for the regional eo, It would be unfair that regionals who didn't select dublin to compete against those who have already seen/done perhaps the exact same tests for EO dublin.

Looks like PAS have copped on to possible cheating on verbal and numeric ,it looks like they will be done dublin like the latest CO. Little point in supervised test if the candidate screenshots text/answers and got help in previous home test.
