Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Here is an old photo from my army days.

It was on the old Ticknock Rifle Range in the mid 80's on a Motor Bike course. The range had not been shot on for some years, back in the late 70's I beleive was the last time used.

Course run jointly by the PA's and Cav.

Does anyone remember the "Q" in the photo, he never went anywhere without his dog.

Gadaffi has started awarding himself postcard's for medals by the looks of things. Saw this on the news when he was in Paris recently and had to try not to laugh.

It's the result of a French/ German collabpration, it is effectively a Euro version of an Apache. You would not believe the amount of equipment in our local base. It is also amazing to see French and Germans working hand in hand as a military unit when 60 years ago they were mortal enemies. Pity I didn't have my proper camera with me. Some of the flying displays were excellent.

Interesting. Great hardware, doubt with th erecent govt. report of Bord SNIP we'll be having a few of them :(

BTW, what language do they use when the Germans and French do millitary excercises ?

I don't know for sure but I'd guess English when Airborne. On the ground all the lads were speaking both French and German with equal fluency. Typically ask the question in your own language and get the response in the other. Mind you many French speak to me in English and I speak back to them in French, both of us get the practice in the other's language. Head melting stuff :D.

In private hands, he must have some money. Does he have to have a fire arms permit for it ? :)

I think I seen this ( and maybe a Russian T something ) at the Toys 4 Big Boys exhibition in the RDS a year or two ago.

Yep that's the same one, there was a sign on it saying 'restored by Toys 4 Big Boys' painted on the side of it.

Not something you would want to leave the with the engine running & the keys in at the petrol station :)

There were actually 2 Chieftains and no T. The other one was pimped-up to represent T-50, T-72, T-80 or what it was, for one of the James Bond movies.

I was bit surprised when I've heard it, as some old T's are being sold for a scrap price.
