Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

People really do hate seeing others getting things for free. I get that “influencers” can be annoying but they are easily avoided.

We’re not short on begrudgery in this country, that’s for bloody sure!!

It's amazing how if you don't pay any attention to these people then they really don't bother you.

Lads, are you seriously saying that a man posted this:

“I used to follow her at the beginning when she did hauls etc, she was much more relatable, not at all anymore. My feeling is that she's very fake and a lot of it is an act, I do not like the boyfriend at all, seriously bad vibes from him. Pity, she was great.”

    Or this:

“Oh Jesus those knockoff bags, can’t believe people are allowed to promote stuff that’s clearly a knockoff. You can tell it’s cheap tatt you’d find down a market somewhere”

They are so ungrateful and vulgar

I've met a few "influencers" in the past. Most are not very nice individuals mainly because they believe their own PR. But I actually feel sorry for them. Bar one or two most have zero knowlege of the real world and are not employable once their influencer days are past. One or two will make a go of it in PR or marketing etc but the rest are functionally useless.

I used to have a blog back in 1999/2000 (As in a blog on blogger.com, where the term came from). I remember all the Irish bloggers (that we could identity) meeting up for a drink once - there were 6 of us.

If only we knew then that talking shïte in public would become a paying profession in 20 years.

I find it interesting that there is such much hate coming from a predominately male website like this towards predominately female bloggers.

You can scoff at the bloggers and the influencers for getting free stuff and services but ultimately they are the ones creating content for Instagram and other social media pages, for free. They spend hours labouring over the content they release without remuneration, who can begrudge them for getting free meals or clothes?

Maeve Higgins, Alison Spittle, and every other Irish female comedian as well on the various comedy threads. There’s a serious waft of misogyny from a relatively small cohort of angry men around here.

It’s typical of the Patriarchy that only judges women on their looks: the women who aren’t judged to be conventionally beautiful are judged too harshly in a manner no man would ever be judged and women who are considered to be conventionally beautiful who post on social media are deemed to be whores or slappers.

Yes because women never judge other women. Any if they do, it is internalised patriarchy, right?

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I’d say a fair few enjoyed her tv show ‘Nowhere Fast’, it was decent enough.

Although, I’m sure there’ll be a few along give the “credit” to her, male, co-writing partner.

So it's very lazy of that poster to bring gender into it.

The overwhelming majority of criticism aimed towards female public figures is based on their looks or by using gender-specific slurs.
