Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What’s the point of or what role does Brock Lesnar have within the WWE if he isn’t world champion?

Someone said 21 doesn't get the love it deserves sometimes.

19 and 21 are probably the two best WrestleManias for me, and both are better than 17.

Charlotte being so upfront last night made me think how are there not more wardrobe malfunctions? And I don't just mean the women. Like how often do you see trunks being grabbed to pull someone off a ladder or something yet no issues, except a bit of builders bum.
For the women, I know they usually have layers, but sometimes think the material being used must be really strong, as it can sometime be grabbed.

See I think about the important issues!

19 is my fav. 30 was fairly good too.

    Random(-ish) wrestling thought.

After watching the Broken Skull Sessions interviews, a selection of Table For 3, and the choice picks of WWE 24 (especially the docs on Kurt Angle and Finn Balor) I want to give wrestling a go when these social restrictions are lifted. I'm probably too old and too green to make it big, but I am still young and fit enough to take the first few steps on the ladder. I've been a fan since I was a kid, practising moves with my brother, but I won't ever know if I'm utterly hopeless unless I try it properly sometime. :P

DDP made his wrestling debut at 35.

I don’t get the ‘best Mania ever’ love people give 19. It’s grand like, but Jericho/HBK probably isn’t in their top 10 matches (the weird acoustics of the stadium hurt it as it plays back really quiet), Booker/Triple H is one of the Mania all-time lowpoints, the main event is most notable for Angle trying to stay safe with a broken neck and Brock’s botch and Vince/Hogan is one of the best matches on the card. It’s a great looking card on paper like but a lot of the matches didn’t live up to expectation. Not a bad Mania by any means but it doesn’t hold up like 17. Was it just people’s seminal Mania like? By that I mean the first they watched live or where they understood what ‘WrestleMania’ was supposed to mean? I can think of 4-5 other Manias that easily beat it for rewatchability.

21 is on that list btw, excellent Mania. I think if it wasn’t for the two main events kinda falling flat everyone would consider it the GOAT.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

21 had the MITB ladder match debut and had the much loved Hollywood vignettes too. Definitely a good one. I think all Manias from 17-24 were outstanding and felt huge.

Feel like 25-29 all bleed into each other as indistinguishable to a point where as the preceding ones all had great identities of their own. 30 and 31 were top dollar having said that.

I’d largely agree but, of those, I’d say 28 stands out. The outdoor venue in Miami really helps give it a distinguishable look and feel, then you’ve got that night into day vibe, plus the card is pretty memorable with the epic Taker/Triple H HIAC, Sheamus/Bryan and the first Rock/Cena.

Whenever it’s in a stadium and they’ve got the generic blue/grey ‘big’ design, it tends to blend into all other mediocre ‘big’ WrestleManias. And oddly the card seems to follow by being meh too, even adding 32 and 34 to that list. Whereas 33 has a distinct look and is remembered more fondly (Hardyz comeback, Taker’s ‘retirement’ etc). It’s like some years they go all out and others they just use the old WrestleMania formula and assume it’ll all be grand.

At least this weeks episode of dark side of the ring will be a little more cheery as it's not about a wrestler death/metal problems etc. Its about that mess that was the brawl for all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,283 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I've noticed lately they keep referring to Shayna as a cage fighter rather than MMA fighter. Think it's due to being quicker to say or because they're avoiding saying MMA? Or just sounds tougher?

Hope this means he'll go back to his promo style from 2000 - 2003 when he talked more and his promos felt more genuine. No more slow, monotonous promos in character.

Ya this trigger should have been pulled in the lead up to the Cena match at Mania a couple years back

Don't see either of those guys going far.

Did that ring announcer say "One fall to the curfew"?

Yes he did. It's similar to "one fall and remaining television time." There was a curfew in place for sport in that area years ago.

If Bret’s career hadn’t ended in WCW with the concussion would Vince have offered him a deal when he bought out WCW and would Bret have agreed?

Also how much would an active Bret in WWE offered during the Ruthless Aggression era.

Interesting observation and something I never really thought of

Its possible Bret would of retired just before WCW was bought by Vince or maybe went the route of others running down his contract and coming back to wwe later on (the ghosts of the screwjob would of still haunted him back then)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,689 ✭✭✭sky88

God a returning Bret vs returning hbk in with Vince involved god that would have been epic

Then the obvious dream match With kurt too

A heel crusty Bret trying to ward off the young upstarts would have been great.

Or a hard as nails face Bret warding off the **** kicker young upstarts. Works either way. :pac:

Haha what a statement given that it's in regards to pro wrestling but he's certainly up there. I do find when he doubles down on a WWE idea that was **** but saying it was good annoying.

Most people in the wrestling industry are bullsh**ers especially when you add in a podcast/shows

Got to give it to him he used Conrad's platform to get himself back into a position of power within the WWE after there was little to no chance he would ever get a gig there again and being totally irrelevant.

These boys know how to look after themselves.

A pretty random thought but I can’t listen to JRs podcast anymore and have unfollowed him on Twitter. The reason being he is such an overtly creepy lecherous Pervy scumbag

I’ve found myself doing that a lot with wrestlers lately not the creepy but just questionsble likes on Twitter always stuff I know I’ll stop liking them so choose to be oblivious to the real them

I would like to throw Mr. Eric "I don't recall" Bischoff's name into the hat. At least Prichard is the type who is an entertaining spoofer (c'mon, we all know one).

The only one I am genuinely happy got a job out from being on Conrad's platform is Tony.

Nearly 20 years out of wrestling and its great to have him back in the commentary booth and he doing a fantastic job.

Yeah tony should never have been out of wrestling for that long as take away the end of WCW where he has admitted the atmosphere there was awful and it came across on air but he's a brilliant commentator. I've rewatched his time in WWE and his commentary was very good but probably wasn't a fit for WWE at the time. And he's not weird like JR has become.

Well I'd prefer People in wrestling to say they don't know or recall rather than going on the hogan scale and bull****ting to high heaven.

I’m watching the broken skull sessions with flair and it’s great to see him in what seems like a good place in his life. I’m a huge fan of him as a wrestler but the last couple of years it’s been hard to see him the way he was physically but he seems in a good place which is good to see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,338 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

So stopped the broken skull session and at 11:01pm I hit play on wrestlemania 17 and watched it from start to finish for the first time in years and besides the Benoit match slightly uncomfortable to watch It was like I was watching it live like I did 19 years ago.

Have we ever done a watch along thing on boards before ? If we have then fair enough but if we haven't then I'm saying don't rule it out.

It used to be every live PPV and Raw thread, essentially.

Remember when each Raw would have its own thread?

While WWE continuing now is a pity for many reasons, and many more important than what I'm gonna say

I really wish they stopped after Mania, we might actually have some hype when things would start up again by July or August

We did and then brother lithium I think it was said "sod that" but I was thinking more of a rewatch as opposed to a live watch.

Is it just inevitable that The Rocks Daughter and whatever McMahon grandchildren go into the ring they will be pushed because of who there related too ???

Charlotte has backed it up and not just there for her name. Orton the very same

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,772 ✭✭✭SureYWouldntYa

Well if Tamina can keep a job after all these years for her family connections, then any of those will rival Charlotte in title reigns in no time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,283 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy
