Was John cena and his long run in WWE on top the best and worst thing that's happened to WWE ?

I say that because years after he's left WWE and is not on WWE TV the WWE have tried to get the next cena and haven't found someone to fill that spot. Roman reigns had a chance if WWE hadn't made a complete balls up and make the crowd not care. Seth Rollins needs to go away as I can't stand him on camera and his social media crap.

So if cena hadn't been on top in WWE would they be in a Better position today ?

I know it was a few years before my time (thanks YouTube), Vince singing Stand Back at the Slammy Awards in '87, is absolute cheese at it's finest.

Add in the funky bass and the saxophone, it's just brilliant..

It's a pity they couldn't talk to someone in WWF/E at the time for it. They had Cody to explain how WWF got to where they are, other than a brief Justin Roberts cameo there was nobody else. Thankfully for Justin there was no sign of Jim Cornette. I really liked how they broke down the lines of figures, their strengths & weaknesses. I loved the later 1990's ones that they trashed tho. They kinda showed how over time like a lot of toys they are more collectors pieces for adults than things to play with.

The Turtles one is fascinating as it talks to their creators more about how the licence was handled than anything else as they discuss movies, TV & ownership of the property as much as anything. Like a lot of these stories it's not a particularly happy ending for them after it becomes a huge hit.

Hard to say. Anyones guess really.
But should WWE not of had Cena they would have tried and tried to create the next big star. Who knows, that could of been lashley circa 2007-2008 as he seemed to tick all their boxes. He's just an example tho.

Cena's big run was a weird one. Like, around 2005 on-wards. He was printing money so we could all see why it was the John Cena show but man they were the dark years for WWE. Very repetitive. Very crap. Loved the shovel the same stuff. Triple H vs Orton for the millionth time of PPV anyone? lol.

Got myself an early Christmas present:

    icbelt.jpg

Custom made by some chap in, I think Pakistan. WWE don't seem to sell this belt anymore for some reason but I still think it's one of, if not the, nicest design of belt that's ever been around in da rasslin' world. Yer man did a great job on it. Plates seem scarily similar to the replica belt (I used to have the Figures Toy Company replica version of the same belt, but sold it many moons ago, which I regretted shortly after) albeit this belt is WWF whereas the official replica was WWE (I'm a Kane fan, and he only ever held the WWF version of it, so i opted for that).

Highly recommend it to anyone looking for them. €150-225 seems to be the price range (depending on whether you want 2mm plates/leather or 4mm).

Next step would be to see about getting a frame for it, so I can wall mount it and make it look pretty.

random how they got X-Pac in as a talking head on the set and literally had him say one sentence. He must have been off his chops at the time and that was all they could use :pac:

They should bring this one back. The old school Intercontinental title design with the white strap has always looked so out of place.

Yeah I'd agree. I figured when the 'old' belt resurfaced (by Cody?) it was only gonna be on him, and when someone else won it, it'd revert back to the oval belt.

What has been in my head, since buying that belt, though, is I'm wondering how it's actually plausible for someone to make replica wrestling belts on the black market.

I can understand people that make Kane masks and Mankind masks etc as you really only have to be decent at leather work, as you're pretty much making the same mask over and over again (well, 3-4 variations at most) and the designs are fairly simple.

I can't understand how this chap was able to make me an IC title and have it to my door in less than a fortnight, and it looks really, really good.

And when I was ordering, i was flip-flopping between whether or not to the get the wwE or wwF versions of the belt. When I mentioned the E version, I was asked did I want a name on the nameplate.

And I can order pretty much any belt, it'd seem. I really don't get that. Considering that not only the actual plates of the belt have to be designed and printed and shaped, but also the strap for each belt is a different shape, too, and some belts have a curved faceplate, others are flat, etc. I'm not sure how it's worthwhile doing it.

I was initially thinking that maybe the Figures Toy Company moulds might have been stolen/copied/etc somewhere along the way, but their design of the belt is slightly different to the one yer man made me.

    It's bewildering.

Can't put it around your waist or put it on your shoulder to pretend you're the champion then

I've done many a drunken spit-take with my Triple H plated World Heavyweight Title, mostly egged on by others I swear not because I really wanted to.....:pac:

Sure I've been blaring theme tunes all day. I was setting off Kane's pyro in the kitchen earlier, then I was giving myself RVD thumbs in the sitting room, before I was Jericho.

Soon, I'll be pretending to be the Big Boss Man as the Hardcore champion as I'll have broken the belt by messing too much with it. :o

I watched that Toys That Made Us episode about Wrestling.

I was massively into WWE toys growing up, and as I got into my late teens I began 'collecting' them. I remember when JAKKS Pacific and WWE had their falling out, and JAKKS knew that they weren't gonna be getting the license renewed. For about the last two years of their run with WWE figures, they were the laziest, most contemptuous company that ever must have existed.

They deliberately would re-use body parts that didn't fit wrestlers, and an error in their scaling meant that anyone wearing a suit would be towering over the other figures (they eventually fixed this after people complaining over and over).

I think one of the most memorable 'we couldn't care less' moments was when they released a figure of Mark Henry, since dubbed 'Naked Mark Henry', as they didn't bother painting or supplying his singlet, nor did they give him any markings, logos, lettering, etc. and instead just gave him plain black trunks, which he has never, ever worn.

    51jn2YhrsuL._SY355_.jpg

(the idea behind the 'PPV' series was that wrestlers would be released in the outfit they wore at a specific PPV, this one was the Rumble in 2009 I think, although by that point they stopped making the outfits PPV-specific which made the line redundant anyway).

Would have loved to have seen that kinda thing mentioned a bit more, though I can understand they had a lot to fit into a short programme.

Speaking of which, does anyone find the editing on that Toys show a bit annoying? I watched the Turtles one aswell, and it's almost hard to follow the episodes.

Came across a free to play wrestling management simulation, that isn't extreme warfare revenge

    https://www.journeyofwrestling.com/

Was playing as ECW in attitude era.

Bought TEW 2016 but found the interface to be real clunky, couldn't enjoy it at all

They are both on the Lawsuit against the WWE for brain injuries might be the reason.

The late King Kong Bundy is on the list as well and not in the HoF either and he should be.

I think they're part of a class action suit against the company. That's why New Day beat their record.

I loved 3MW myself, them hitting Smackdown and obliterating Chuck and Billy was legit one of my favourite invasions ever. RIP to both of them.

For 2 400lb men Jamal and Rosey were impressive fliers from the top rope. I'll never forget their 6 man table match at Survivor Series 2002

That's part of it but also they (bill Eadie and Barry Darsow) claim to have ownership of the demolinitom name when I doubt they do.

King Kong buddy is dead ? When did that happen ?

Edit: march of this year. I surely heard it at the time but I've no memory of it.

I remember Bill Eadie has a lawsuit over the rights to the Demolition theme song. I guess it was settled because it was featured in one of the wwe games in the past

Well it's not used on the WWE network where demolition appear. It's a generic sounding one so it might have been settled but not in WWEs favour.

A number of ex ECW wrestlers were part of that suit too, which is ridiculous considering they suffered more concussions in ECW thn they did in WWE

Have listened to a number of shoot interviews about Cowboy Bill Watts. That guy must have the worst reputation in wrestling. Everybody seems to hate him.

Also Ole Anderson and Gene Anderson were nasty pieces of work too.
