Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Delivers to Ireland, looks good value.

    Delivered to here for €560

Was very tempted by the eglobal offer of 646 for the S9+ before I checked their reviews. It seems as if anything goes wrong you're on your own. Phones aren't European so they're not covered by the Samsung warranty. Some people seem to have been covered by it but a lot haven't by the looks of things. Once the sale goes through egloal seem to completely ignore you. Think I'll pass with them and just wait a few more weeks/months for the price to drop a bit more.

Considering the P20 is closer to the S8 than the S9 (and costs more than the former) I wouldn't be so sure you've come out ahead there.

Looking at a comparison on GSMArena[URL="https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8966&idPhone2=8161#g960f,g950f,*[/URL] S8 and S9 are almost identical, with less than a year between release dates.

FYI, P20 is dual sim, dual camera, bigger internal storage, bigger battery. Samsungs don't have these.

Dual SIM versions of the s9 and s9+ are available. The s9+ has dual camera, the s9 and s9+ have an sd card slot, storage can be brought up to over 400gb.The p20 only has 128gb and no micro sd card slot.

I don't think storage is very important for people generally, 64gb is enough with photos and pics saved to a cloud and Spotify for music. What do ppl need any more than that for? Gaming?

Yes it's same super AMOLED screen. But screen to body ratio is higher in S9+, although by a margin only :)

My S9+ got dual sim, dual camera, 128 GB + 64 GB storage (further extendable, as opposed to P20 Pro), i agree P20 Pro got 4000 mAh battery and S9+ got 3500 mAh battery. But screen resolution is better in S9+ with 529 ppi, whereas P20 Pro stands at 408 ppi. 6GB RAM in both.

For me, notch on P20 could be annoying. Plus Huawei phones don't hold much resale value compared to iPhone and Samsung.

Sorry, I didn't know we were comparing the S9+ with the P20.
I have various phones with SD slots, and while they are great at expanding memory for photos/videos, they aren't too great at storing or running applications. Infact storing apps on an SD is almost a non-runner for most phones these days.

After picking up a Huawei P20 about a month ago, hope the iPhone/Samsung owners like parting with their money. Forget the hype.

The Samsung flagships are still very good devices with the benefits of years of development and software experience and full retail/warranty backup as well as tons of accessories.

While yes there are some fantastic bargains on the Chinese phones (the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2/2s for example), it's not really a direct comparison.

Seems to be down to €559 at the moment.

Excellent value , I bought my Samsung S5 (dual sim) from eglobal nearly 4 years ago at this stage ( think it was a similar price back then)

My S5 refuses to give up , still going as strong as ever.

I have been waiting for Samsung to make another phone with a removable battery to be able to justify the move .Unfortunately looks like this is not going to happen though :o

FWIW it's "as new" which means it should be in perfect nick and come with all original accessories and the box. 30 day money back guarantee no questions asked.
What would concern me more is the fact it's an international version, anyone know what that means exactly? I saw a Q&A on the .de site saying there are some functional differences which may affect updates? I haven't a clue though. Would also be concerned that Samsung wouldn't honour the warranty should something go wrong, as it's not meant to be used in the EU market if it's from Asia.
Again, I don't know, but these are just things I have read online. If anyone could shed light on it that actually knows I'd appreciate it.

Guess who dropped there brand new "bargain" on the weekend and cracked the screen... :( devestated is an understatement but that's what you get for being stupid and not getting a cover!

Ouch! Covers are non-optional for me. I physically couldn't hold on to my last two phones without one (Sony Z5, Samsung S8). Gimme a non-slick and non-rounded sides phone any day!

I've a very good cover on my S8 and dropped it and the screen still smashed if that makes you feel any better!

Is the general consensus this is worth going for?

Debating between this S9 and the one plus 6 phone...cannot decide :(

It isn't a very good cover then is it?! I've an otterbox defender on my S6 have dropped many many times and has never cracked

Mine is an Otterbox, and comparing an S6 screen with and S8 isn't exactly like for like as the entire face is glass. That said, was bound to happen to me eventually!

Tempered glass screen protectors are the way forward, same texture as the display and great protection. Can be picked up for a few euro on ebay/amazon

Ordered an s9 dual sim black international version from amazon Spain last Monday night for €557 delivered and it shipped last night - Sold and Shipped by amazon.

Will Samsung pay work on the international version ?

Ordered the Spigen rugged armor case and screen protector after reading the above.

Samsung, Apple and Google Pay all work per bank, not what region the device is.

So if your bank supports the service, it will work fine.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 'international version' and I use Google Pay regularly without any issues.

FWIW I have a thin fit Spigen case on my s8 and no protective glass and I have zero scratches looking closely. I intended to use tempered glass (still in a box on my desk since I bought the phone) but thought I'd give the gorilla glass a test. I do keep one pocket solely dedicated to it but otherwise have had it everywhere with me through camping, holidays, in and out of jeans a zillion times, in and out of zippered pockets, and it's perfect.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-Samsung-Galaxy-Light-592cs22821-Black/dp/B078BBJKK9/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1529494961&sr=1-2&keywords=s9+spigen+thin

I love this case as it offers just enough protection. There are front-facing ridges on top and bottom so the screen doesn't touch the surface when placed screen down yet doesn't interfere with the wrap-around screen edge. The look is matte black while the feel is gripy. It actually makes the phone feel more solid in your hand without feeling large. Lots of one-handed use above a toilet and it's never taken a dive yet.

Ok that may be true but Samsung have been using the same QHD screen since the S6 and both the S8 & S9 actually have a lower pixel density than the S7 !!!

Are you saying that each iteration of their screens doesn't improve?

The pixel density difference is negligible, and having a higher density doesn't mean a screen is better.

For the record, when I put my screen next to my Mrs' S6 Edge+, there is night and day difference.

Just ordered a Pristine refurbished S9 plus 128gb for 700 euro of ebay delivered. Going to use it for a while to compare to my iphone X. Yes i know it's not new but as good as new and can't be more than a couple months old. Also it's UK/IRL spec.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,826 ✭✭✭masterboy123

I say that's pricey when you can get a brand new s9+ for less than that. But I am sure you will enjoy the phone. I can't complain on it.
    Good week

Where can you get a brand new IRL/UK model S9+ for less than 700? I suspect they must be used/refurbished? Models from different regions that i see for sale may have different LTE bands or missing LTE bands that UK/IRL may use. Argos are charging 1099!

International version delivered for under 700, as far as I know theres no differences with regions unless you get a US one with the Snapdragon.

Brand new sealed Samsung S9+ for €659 on Adverts.ie

It's a bricks and mortar shop too so go in and collect, get receipt, etc.

From translating some reviews on the Spanish site, they mention that these are reconditioned phones so this may explain their low price.

Its mentioned there is a app for Samsung that can check if its reconditioned or not:
