Going back to your point about doubles and trebles. I don't like the ht/ft bets cos it's like a double bet in itself. Add in 2 bets of that nature and theres too much that can go wrong for me. Could be speaking out of my pocket after being stung a few times by that bet so I havent had that type of bet in a long time now.

I dont mind doubles and trebles at times as they can present value but I'd generally just go on the result.

Hope this isn't taken as a form of aftertiming, but HT/FT bets in GAA in winter/poor weather are always very iffy. Heavy fav playing into a gale is happy to be in touch at HT. If the wind if up, you need to be at the game or have someone there, know who has conditions with them in the first half, and either:
    - play that team HT/FT, or even score first, lead HT & FT (usually better bet if the fav)
    - jump on the handicap on that team, with a mind to get on the other side at some point to leave a nice middle.

Bet placed on Clare - 1 against Tipp in football next weekend @2/1. Tipp struggled to get by a leitrim team playing first league game since resumption. Clare have been competing at a higher level and have stayed in division 2, competed with Armagh over the weekend with Armagh scoring 4 or 5 at the end to run away.

Mayo -13 v Leitrim surely is a standout bet.was 12 yesterday but Mayo are scoring freely at the moment and Leitrim are very limited. You would yhink there will be a free or a score most times the ball is kicked in to O Shea full forward.Took the 13 as I think by throemw in it will be out to 14 or 15 points.

    Carrick-onShannon.

Adbantage for Leitrim but still think Mayo will walk this one.

They'll hammer them alright. Still a lot of scoring to cover 12 points but i think they'll win by 15+

Clare are definitely the stand out bet for this weekend, I would have them favourites to be honest

I hate HT/FT bets this far out, have no idea re the weather etc. just look at last Sunday, Limerick were miles better than Clare but it was a draw at half time because Clare played with the elements and Limerick were a little sluggish.

Yes, I agree it is more risky the further out that you do them in particular for hurling giving wind can change a game. However you also have to take into account that there could be no wind or that Limerick win the toss and play with the wind.

The reason I've gone for it this far out is that Boyles have it at 11/10 and I think that is closer to the actual price.

I think that Mayo will win pulling up as well but the biggest worry is the weather .promised very bad all weekend and on a heavy pitch and a game the following week v Roscommon Mayo mightn’t kill them selves with effort in the home stretch

Reckon Waterford are the standout bet in the hurling this weekend.

Games between them have been very close almost always, last year being an outlier. Expect a much better Waterford performance.

That was evident from the league game, and while the league is the league the conditions will be more like what is in store tomorrow and it's worth noting Waterford were short Austin Gleeson, Tadhg Bourke and Jamie Barron on the day.

Darragh Fitzgibbon also a big loss to Cork.

Just think the 2/1 is far too big whoever you fancy to win it.

I'm liking the bullishness about Kerry - going 4pts win the RP.

  • Registered Users Posts: 323 ✭✭Capt. Autumn

My bet of the day is under 33.5 points in the game between Cavan and Monaghan @ 8/11 on Boyle.

The same teams met at the same stage of the championship last year when 28 points were scored.
Paddy Power have 31.5 as the cut-off.

The weather forecast for Ulster from Met Eireann for the 13:15 throw-in is for very wet and windy weather.
    'TOMORROW - SATURDAY 31ST OCTOBER
Wet and very windy on Saturday morning with showery outbreaks of rain. Severe and potentially damaging gusts for a time with weather warnings in operation.'

I think this is pretty much unmissable:). Good Luck!

    Back of the net.

The weather was not as bad as forecast and there was 20 points on the board at half-time, but the wind picked up as the game progressed and this definitely made a difference.

Also, if you went points over with Paddy and under with Boyle you would have doubled up

HT Waterford 0-15 Cork 0-11. Waterford 4/5 over 25.5 total points. I'll be having some of that. They left 0-10 behind them in that first half, lots of wides.

Disappointing result.Missed couple of goals but forward play was poor even allowing for weather.Thought O Shea should have been in full forward as they were clueless for most of the game trying to knife through a packed defence.
