What would be progress for the footballers? Winning either the league or Munster?

What are Cork hurlers chances of winning the All-Ireland this year, from those in the county? I normally throw 50 on them every year, thinking they can't go another year without an All-Ireland, but dunno if I will this year. 16 years with Cork not winning an All-Ireland is mental, hard to get the head around it

Two things missing from Cork hurling for years, a bit of toughness and goals.
Our defence had a bit more steel about them and we scored plenty of goals.

But it was just one game.

Given how topsy turvy things are currently, I expect a semi final this year could be in the offing- hopefully.
A few players back from injury and you never know how things might go this year.

I'm more hopeful this year of giving it a good rattle.

Ye the toughness seems to be a problem. They play by far the best hurling, skill wise. Not from a hurling county but watch Cork when I can. Your Limerick's or Kilkenny's play an effective game, it's dogmatic and physical, but poor to watch imo. Something silky and easy on the eye with how Cork play.

But they could always win too though. Something gone in the mentality? Cork are the team who would always see out a game, yet let it slip v Clare in 13, and badly v Limerick in a semi. They need an All-Ireland soon though

Consistency is our biggest problem. If we turn up I would give us a chance against any team but can't see us stringing three or four performances together to win it out.

I'm watching the footballers and 18 mins gone it's 4 points to 2 for Cork.

3 shots have dropped short into their keeper's hands. Very annoying!

    I am god.....

    Its on Eir Sport 2

    Corks shooting is really bad.

The amount of hit and hopes rather than settling down and aiming...

Cork well on top playwise but the score is actually only 5 points apiece

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,419 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Halftime and Kildare lead 7 points to 6

Atrocious shooting from Cork. 5 shots dropped short into Keepers hands. We had a goal chance where it ended up going wide. Not even a point. Then we scored a point to go 7 points to 6 up and the ref called it back for overcarrying, Seemed very harsh. Then he gave them a dubious free to go a point up before halftime.

Cork were well on top but didn't put the points on the board. Now they are ahead just before halftime.

Cork missed an easy chance to level it and now Kildare are winning 1-11 to 0-9

    Dreadful stuff to watch.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,143 ✭✭✭munsterlegend

Can O Mahony kick a ball over the bar at all? Dreadful for inter county.

The difference in shooting ability is something else. Our basic skills are beyond useless.

They didn't let it slip in 2013. They were in fact on the backfoot for most of the drawn game and relied on goals to keep them in it. Clare scored 25 times, Cork 19. Clare scored 14 times from play, Cork 9. Cork somehow managed to find themselves ahead in injury-time but to claim it as a final that was let slip is a big exaggeration.

Another Kildare goal. It came from a Cork forward player trying to pass the ball with a kick and it looked like it was aimed at the Kildare defender. He caught it and they went up the pitch and got a goal.

Cork look like they have got worse and I didn't think that was possible

The basic kicking skills are next to zero.

Another kick for a point from Cork that was closer to the corner flag.

2-12 to 0-10 and its in the 65th min. I can't watch anymore. As has been said, Cork can't seem to do the basics right.

Same crap football as the last few years
going by today. Too easy to defend. Can’t understand why they stuck with McCarthy. Not expecting miracles with the squad but should be able to do better than this.

Not surprised really. None of the young fellas in Cork seem to have any commitment or motivation with it like Mayo and the others.

But we'll be the best at what matters, crawling around the fecking beach in Youghal.

    Some good news,

In the Camogie, Cork beat Tipperary today in their opening Division 1 Group 2 tie at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

    Cork 3-14 Tipperary 0-16

Captain Amy O’Connor got 2 goals.

Aisling Thompson played very well, a few fine points from play.

Cork are terrible and no wonder they have only won 7 All Irelands in senior football. They are always frustrating to watch. They are going to get some hammering by Kerry this year if they do meet them in Munster.

I have just seen that Cork ladies footballers playing Tipperary in the league Round 1 will be live on TG4 next Friday night from 7.20 pm

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,419 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Late changes for Cork. Shane Kingston and Seamus Harnedy are out.

Jack O'Connor comes in. Kenefick and Turnbull on panel
