Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Snowing in Tralee! Snowfall here is a once in 10 years event. We must be protected by our location and the topography. 2 years in a row I can't recall.

    220m asl here in Kilkenny
Temperature fell to 3.2C then rose to 3.8C, then took a sudden drop, 2.3C and falling.
Sleety rain, but netweather radar suggests the snow is on its way.

Fully snow that is falling north Kildare now. Big fat flakes. Was 3c at 13:35, down to 2.3c now and falling steadily.

Anyone who makes a bread related joke should be asked to leave the country. It's still not funny.
Rain still falling in Galway , awful day, no sign of any snow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,693 ✭✭✭SleetAndSnow

Don't worry, I am planning on doing that anyway. No need to ask, but thanks for the thought.

Sleet snow fall making it's way up across the country.

Currently driving from Portumna (Galway/Tipp border) to Athlone. Heavy snow in Portumna and was sticking, turned to rain as we hit Ballinasloe, absolutely pelting rain now as we near Athlone. Hoping when we return to Portumna in a couple of hours we come back to a nice white cover as it was coming down heavy when we left!

I understand that you go completely by what the data shows and keep any emotions at bay but we're getting reports of heavy and sticking snow already and at relatively low levels. Is this giving you cause to reconsider what will evolve during the day, based on what is actually happening now rather than what the data is showing?

It does look to be a degree or so colder than progged, but when I talk of snow I mean proper snow, not the wet stuff that seems to be falling. Here down the road from you it's just cold rain at 65 m amsl, with about 10% sleet thrown in there. I can't see any thing of note falling throughout the day but it would be nice if it did. WBTs around the country still too high for me.

Snowing heavily in Kinnitty, Co Offaly. Unlike Shinrone it is sticking to the roads. I think it’s time for a run in the Slieve Blooms to enjoy the weather.

Massive drop in cork city all of a sudden, reporting 2 degrees at cork airport now. Hustling up to 35kts aswell now.

Rain is gone though so chances of snow are gone too :(

Little pieces of ice in the drops now, just as the precipitation appears to be clearing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,684 ✭✭✭Darwin

Pegging down snow on the m7 near Portlaoise, glad I got off the motorway as it was starting to get tricky. There is a light dusting of snow on the grass outside. Will be horrible if it freezes over tonight
