Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've applied for a previous panel and they will soon reach my position. There seems to be a few people on this thread who may be able to answer this question for me in relation to pay.

I currently work in the Oireachtas, if I accept a CO position will my time spent working here be taken into account in relation to the pay scale? I've 5 years here, so will I start at year 5 on the pay scale as a CO? When I started in the Oireachtas they sent me a form looking for previous work experience to see if I qualified for increments.

Oireachtas position is a public/civil service job so I would assume you will be on point 5, you will have to pay 5 years superannuation though,

Wonder will they try to cut down on people cheating with the online tests.
That's a bit crazy why would you cheat ? I did much better with the supervised ( the only one that counts) because I was quicker as I remembered or was more familiar with a lot of the questions from The online one .

Why would anyone cheat, to gain an advantage.

Just a quick question if anyone can help, I'm on the panel for the Dublin region in the current campaign, if I take a job from that will it affect any offers I might receive if I reach that stage in this competition?

No the competitions are independent of each other

Do they send sample tests out beforehand like the HSE competition did? And is it timed?

There is a candidate ID section on the application form. Is this to be filled internally or is it something we need to complete?

Does anybody know what is required here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 868 ✭✭✭tringle

Is that just at he candidate ID number. If so it is your public jobs ID number

It doesn't seem to work for me with google chrome. As, my flash driver doesn't work. But I use Firefox as it has a built in flash drive.. Have you tried other internet search engines???

Or, is it that it's downloading and just not automatically opening? Meaning that you have to find it and open it manually?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,178 ✭✭✭Crunchymomma

If you downloaded it using chrome. You need to go and open it from the downloads folder

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,203 ✭✭✭Samsgirl

Finally got application form submitted today. Best of luck all!

Hey, thanks 😊 I applied a week or two ago and it says submitted on the public jobs portal, how long does it take to hear back from them and how long is the process do you know?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,305 ✭✭✭Alonso77

How many sections are in the pdf application form? Mine seems to go straight from section A to section C. Section B missing?

I’m exactly the same. Someone else mentioned it on tco thread section b is missing.

Think it takes about 2-3 weeks after applications close for the first part which is a questionnaire.

Then another 2-3 weeks for the next step which are the two tests.

You then get placed based off your results.

Then it can be any length until you are invited to in house testing, you are placed again.

Depending on your placement, you'll be called for interview. Could take months/ over a year.

What happens if u submit the application without section b cause that’s how the pdf downloaded? Will u be removed from the competition?

I think it’s an error on their part as I recently applied for Garda trainee and was able to download the PDF with all sections.

  • Registered Users Posts: 291 ✭✭natc

If you look at the number on the pages in the PDF format it is only 4 pages and all pages 1-4 are there so I think maybe they left out section B intentionally.

If I recall from the 2016 application process we didn’t have to fill out and give details of scenarios etc in relation to different skills until the final application form for interview. That’s when I recall having to answer experienced based questions.

Does anyone know what the aptitude test is like? Is it the same online format as the HSE one? Or is it more like the council ones?

Online format usually and then repeated in pa's if you score high enough at home. Today is closing date so I would imagine they will be in about two weeks

Just finishing off the application. Is the candidate I.D. something I should have or do they add it after they receive the application?

It's on your public jobs profile. You need to add it to application form

    Thanks for that.

Would I be right in assuming that the aptitude tests are a verbal reasoning and verify calculation test?

I have applied but I've a driving conviction from 2012. Would this affect my chances of getting the job if I was to be successful in everything else?

Does anyone know how the consider the info on the application forms. Do they "grade" them first and then invite the top ones only to the aptitude test. Or does everyone do the aptitude test and then your experience and education count at the interview stage. I'm good at interviews and my application is pretty OK but I'm slow at aptitude tests.

Normally they don't look at the application form at all until interview. Stage one and two are just the aptitude tests and they decide who gets called to interview

The aptitude tests are open to all applicants, as it's an open competition. However, your application form will be in front of the interview panel should you make it to that stage, and they will refer to it during the interview.

Is there not a second competency based application form?

There wasn't in 2016 as far as I remember. It was just the form ye filled out there, only we didn't get it until invited to interview.

Online assessment should be available for everyone now. Overall, it seemed fairly straightforward, felt the situational part wasn't too bad. Best of luck everyone!

I've never done one of these before. Is there any place online to see samples? Any advice?

Just completed it, I applied for the tco 2017 campaign and the questions were the same, same names in the scenarios used even.
