Remember that 'Mysterious Artefact' from the Tiny Tina DLC? Might be worth checking to see if you still have it ;)

Thanks guys, Sal it is then :)

So I spun it up to be greeted with a Continue screen and a level 13 Sal in a snazzy Devil suit costume staring at me.....I think I may have owned handsome collection before

Threw it on and was doing some tasks for Tina's tea party and something about catching a train. Dunno where abouts I am in the story (maybe half way through) but it's such a relief not to start again!

The upgraded texture pack looks ****ing great from what I remember. I'm using a very strong flame sniper but low mag, grenade launcher with high damage and high mag (my main gun) and a **** shotgun. I don't really feel comfortable with any of them, think I need a new weapon but the main thing is I jumped up 2 levels and had a blast doing so.

My skill is a bit useless as the secondary guns are crap but the increased health and damage is nice, must remember to use it more.

Sal's all about gunzerking. I was on it dual wielding pistols last night. Fights are just a blaze of bullets, explosions and colour. It's hard to know what's going on or what you're shooting at. Typically I'm relying on the hud just to shoot in the right direction. It's crazy but effective.

The 4k textures make this 7 year old game look amazing and it flies along. Just spotted I've options to create a level 30 any character. Is this new or is it because I've several characters already over level 30?

I'm rusty as hell. Haven't played it in years, new dlc seems good. Nice to go back to it.

That was added for the new DLC to bridge to BL3 in case you didn't want to play through the whole game to get to that dlc.

I think I'm near enough to where you are in the game. I remember getting the first mission where you meet Tina. Don't think you are even half way into game as far as I can remember maybe a quarter way in.

Oh don't forget to sign up for the Borderlands vip program as you can earn in game customization

You are no where near the half way point as far as memory serves (and that's excluding side mission which takes you back to older zones again or the DLC zones) :)

With the right combination of guns, shield and skills*, the game can experience a fair bit of slowdown gunzerking as Sal just because of the amount of damage you're doing. It's just numbers flying at you everywhere on the screen :D

*particularly two Double Penetrating Unkempt Harolds with a full Bee Shield. Shreds absolutely everything.

It's funny I have him set up from a previous playthrough so I'm afraid to change anything in case it's important. I have the grog nozzle in one hand and the harold in the other, my mod regenerates bullets I have better damage ones but know this is important.
I have the bee shield but think I only equipped it because it took me ages to get (now that I think of it I think I spent ages getting many of them) Money Shot is in the skill tree 'cos every now and then the sound goes BLAM BLAM BLAM and enemies disappear.

    What level are you?

I am power leveling someone in Pyro Petes Bar, I getting level 50 drops.

he went from 1 to 15 in about 40 minutes :)

    You need Torques DLC.

That's how the lads boosted my 2nd character back on Xbox :pac:

I'd just started a new Siren character and beat Flynt. Have all the DLC.

I've boosted characters by myself by just putting them somewhere out of the way then taking down BUNK3R repeatedly. Could get great loot for my higher-level character and the junior character was safe at the entrance. Could pretty easily spam BUNK3R too from a safe spot so he never gave much trouble.

Pistols are really where it's at with sal. Even starting out without the big ticket gear you can spec into money shot and stuff that keeps you zerking. Class mod to boost money shot. Divergent likeness, filled to the brim to bring the mag size of a pistol up to the minimum 10 required for money shot to proc. Theres more you need to spec into but those are ones you can get to early enough.

I used the grog nozzle from the Tiny Tina DLC but to keep that you can't finish the quest, Moxxi's Ruby is a good alternative and they should be slag variety. I use these off had for healing and the Harold for damage. When money shot starts to proc you can get serious chains off it with a class mod that adds in my case +6 to it. Money shot is the only thing I'm benefiting from on the class mod (it's a blue one with 2 skill boosts) and it's so effective that it wipes the floor with even the legendary ones that boost 5 skills for 5 points each as I don't think any of them add to money shot. All the while you are zerking as long as there is something to kill.

Are you just aiming for level 30? Not sure how long it would take in Petes but 1 to 15 was fairly quick.

edit just did tier 3 on my own with 10 seconds left.

Yeah you can start a new character at level 30 now. OP levels only kick in at cap so right now at 72 you are walking around with basically level 80 gear if you were previously at OP8. OP levels have to be done again once you hit 80. I think the OP level on the gear will reduce as you level up but stats will stay the same was my reading on it.

EDIT: Just tested it, hit 73 and my gear is now OP7

Quit the game and pick "select character" from the main menu. You can jump straight to the DLC from there.

Started BL2 up again last night. Turns out I never got any of my characters up to Lvl72. I have a Sal at 62, another at 61 and a Krieg at around 50. I guess I got my Sal maxed out when the cap was 61 and then just did a few missions after when it was raised again to 72.

Now I'm half tempted to go full-bore into another playthrough. Might do the Fight for Sanctuary at least and see where that gets me to. Maybe then just some of the DLC rather than the full story mode.

If anyone is looking for a play through of the BL2 New DLC I will be up for a run this evening on PS4, also if you want/need to level a Character I can sort that aswell ;)

Played the first 2 chapters of the DLC and it seems better than the pre-sequel. I laughed at some of the character interactions and the gameplay was good, I may have become distracted by the shiny new textures on my gun following the 4K update but I was enthused.

One issue is that everything that drops is comparatively crap but this is to be expected two chapters in and all the grinding I did on the character. It is counter intuitive though on a loot based shooter.

Just started BL2 from the start again last night, and I have to echo what was said above, it looks stunning with the 4K texture pack. Does not look like a game that came out 7 years ago! Feels fresh, and even though I'm still working my way towards Flint I'm already hooked again. Don't think Days Gone will get another look now though, and I never actually played the DLC so loads to look forward to. Going with Sal this time.

Just a heads up for anyone playing through the new DLC in BL2, in the Shooting for the stars mission you meet up with Brick along the way to get past a section, if your game bombs out or you leave the level brick disappears and you cannot progress any further which is a disaster. Gearbox say do a co-op with someone else on the mission to sort it out but I guess I'm stuck and cant go any further at this point.

Playing the DLC got me in a Borderlands mood so I started playing a few random side missions from the Tiny Tina DLC that I never completed. Did the Prince Jeffrey one :D. Had read about it but never actually played it. Also did one mission which was awful though, skeletons who fry your shield in one hit and keep disappearing after every hit meaning if you get into FFYL it's nearly impossible to get a kill.

Also said I'd try take on Terramorphus solo, as the mission was showing as Level 56 and I'm Lvl64. Sure enough, Terramorphus himself was Lvl66, and both times I tried he knocked me right off the side of the arena with his first hit. Forgot he was such a dick.

Have to say I'm excited for BL3 alright. The Lilith DLC was a good return to form after The Pre-Sequel (which was kinda disappointing and bland).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,674 ✭✭✭DirtyBollox

I found the pre-sequel a good scratch for the itch, but was never permanent. Played it through and finished it, but never maxed characters or really bothered replaying it too much.

Yeah same here. I think I played through it three times (twice as Athena to get her to Lvl50, once as Jack's Double, and I think a bit of Claptrap). It had almost all the ingredients, but it just felt so flat and boring. The humour didn't work at all (I'm sure it was probably hilarious in Australia), the level design was bland (the trouble with setting the entire game on a Moon and in a space station), the enemies were quite bland with not a lot of interesting variation, and some of the side characters were extremely irritating (F*ck you, Pickle. F*ck you. You don't use cockney rhyming slang, and then say the word you're using cockney rhyming slang for right after it).

The Oz mechanic was annoying at the start too, and the only really good thing the game introduced was the Butt-slam, which in fairness was a great addition. Claptrap's action skill for the bit I played as him was fun but I couldn't see myself taking it through the whole story given its randomness.

It's a game that's worth playing for people who loved BL2, but not worth sinking a lot of hours into or repeated playthroughs.

The pre-sequel is underrated I reckon, the humour and accents are class, not being generic American accents is such a huge and enjoyable difference in a game like that.

Currently occasionally playing through the new DLC. Looks like plants will be a main thing in B3.

I'm splitting my time between Crash Team Racing and playing bits of Borderlands 2 again. Spent a while last night farming The Warrior for a Conference Call, as it seems to be the best way to solo the new raid boss in the DLC.

Firstly, since when does killing The Warrior not grant a Second Wind. At least twice I was in FFYL when I hit a killing shot on TW and still died anyway. Didn't make too much of an issue as could still go collect the loot, just annoying. And secondly, the drop rate for any legendary from him seems to be shocking. I only got two legendaries out of maybe 20 kills.

Have switched to the Bar Brawl in Torgues DLC to try farm a new DPUH from a Torgue machine, as my current two are a bit under levelled at this stage.

I think they might be on one planet, but I think you visit many different planets in BL3 so I imagine they'll all have different main types of enemies.

finished the DLC and quite liked it , then spent a few hours yesterday trying to activate the op levels, forgetting as I have all the dlc I'm not max rank yet

I'd forgotten how frustrating this can be when you die and the enemy you're trying to hit apparently stops taking damage. I was on the digitop mountain and picked a carrot instead of an onion out of the ground which killed me and sent me back to the start that was also hmmmmm

I think I came across a Game of Thrones easter egg in the new DLC. I'm pretty sure it is but not sure as I never watched GOT.
A sword sticking out of the ground and it was freezing cold. And a skag came out and was supposed to be a dire wolf. And I think it was named after one of the dire wolves.

Lots more farming of The Warrior yesterday still resulted in no Conference Call, and to make things worse I went from about Lvl64 to Lvl69 over the weekend farming him which meant my Bee Shield and DPUHs were now underlevelled. Farmed Savage Lee to get new DPUHs (which didn't take long in fairness), and got The Bee first time from Hunter Hellquist (though it's a level or two under and no elemental resistance so might farm some of the treeants in Tiny Tina's DLC for a better one).

A few more goes of The Warrior resulted in nothing good, so said I'd try Handsome Sorceror. F*cker dropper a conference call for me first time.

So, all I have to do now is farm some sandworms in the new DLC for a toothpick gun and retainer shield (apparently important for beating the new raid boss), then I'm ready to try take him on solo. Doesn't look too hard if you can do it right and if you can get a clear shot at his crit point he goes down very quickly, but I imagine it'll still take a good few tries and a lot of luck.

Forgot how enjoyable/relaxing it can be just farming enemies in BL2. Once you have the method down it's a very easy way to pass the time, and ultimately I just love the core mechanics of the game. Really hope BL3 can even come close to matching what I love about BL2.

I tried killing Haderex or whatever that new boss is. It took me about 15 minutes to realise he was self healing. This is the problem going in blind. I already have the shield and will need to pick up the tooth pick before I try again.

I have a sand hawk but can't remember if I can still farm this and not sure it's a fire one but it's not essential. I never really farmed this hard except for legendary mods which I have a load of and a couple of bee shields. I need to get to 80 and then farm some op stuff. I have a shedload of legendary weapons but can't remember where I got them or if they're any good.

From what I've read you can stop Haderax healing by inflicting elemental/slag damage on him. Even if it barely hurts him it stops the healing.

The sand hawk from what I remember can be found in a puddle in (I think) Frostburn Canyon (where you're first tracking Lilith in the main story), so it's easy enough to get a new one I think. (Edit: Apparently not actually, not if you've already picked it up. Can be gotten again from a quest in Capt Scarlett DLC if you haven't already gotten it from there.)

Legendaries are great, but once you level up a few times even with their special effects they start becoming underlevelled, and it can be a pain trying to get newer ones (especially if your build is kinda centered on them). My relic and some skills give greater pistol damage and I used 2x DPUHs to do serious damage (even without a Bee Shield), but by the tie I got to Lvl 65 it was taking longer to beat The Warrior and I was running out of ammo. I'm now Lvl70 and even though I had a full stack of Lvl61 legendaries in my inventory (which was the max level at the time I farmed them all), most of them are worthless now having done the new DLC, a few side missions and now farming. I did pick up a few new legendaries while farming but not ones that were really helpful. Some higher-level purples I have now are much better than my Lvl61 legendaries.

If you are playing Sal I'd be looking at an Interfacer shotgun and most definitely a Butcher. Goes crazy when money shot procs especially if you have have a class mod to boost that to 10 or 11. Interfacer can be bought from the vendor in the Hammerlock DLC for seraph crystals.

The stuff from the DLC isn't great, mouthwash increases the damage of the Toothpick which is poo at range and the shield makes you move faster and jump higher in the boss fight. You'd be better off with the sheriffs badge if using a DPUH.

Yeah I use the Sheriffs Badge and have Money Shot up at 11, but from the videos I watched the toothpick and retainer shield help you get up to the central platforms for a better shot.

Had a Butcher but it was Lvl58 so I sold it a while back. Just had to google as I couldn't even remember where you get the cyan weapons and see they're from loot midgets. Remember farming them in the wildlife preservation area before alright. Might try an interfacer alright, definitely have about 250 seraph crystals. If conference call isn't doing the job I'll take a look. Want to at least try Haderax a few times first, try get used to his patterns. (Edit: Just googled and Seraph Vendor doesn't sell Interface in UVHM, can only get from drops).

Tried Haderax a few times without the toothpick or retainer. Can stun him to reveal the crit point in his mouth, but can't get over to him quick enough to end him, then die quite quickly having abandoned my safe spot. Definitely going to have to farm the toothpick and retainer I think. Might also try farm a better bee shield too as I'm not confident the one I have will do the job.

I had the toothpick gun and it was brilliant until I leveled up more and enemies must have also as it started to turn into not as such a good killing weapon.
