Jeff is really one of the good ones

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

That was a great turn and ending. I'm sure most people expected Toni to attack first at some point since it's her title they're fighting for so Mariah not waiting around or holding back was really well done. Wonder if they were trying to set Mariah as the heel as I would be behind her over Toni.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,627 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

This is just so damn good. Unbelievably good

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,192 ✭✭✭ThePott

Can I ask what put you off doing it again?

For myself or others thinking of making the trip to All In this year.

I was hoping to go last year but had to cancel and re-sell my ticket due to work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,627 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

It's just a sum of small things added up together

My seat was at the pitch level which was damn cool BUT the downside was this camera they use to move around to zoom into crowds etc really was distracting. (see attachment)

The amount of times I had to sit up and move to let other people back into their seats while I was watching a great match was damn annoying

Once the event was finished, leaving and being stuck in the biggest crowd I've ever been in and essentially a snails pace back to the train station/hotel (see attachment)

I have a dreadful sense of direction and get lost easily lol but I have a mouth on me so no problem asking for directions. My hotel was near the stadium and had to hop on and off different trains and was just a pain

Please dont have my experience put you off, overall it was a superb experience but im happy not going through it again. If you're an AEW fan it's something you really should experience at least once

What was Will's dig at MJF about Tony and money, Tony got MJF to stay by giving more money, maybe I took it up wrong

    Hangman now with Elite?

Mercedes is a better natural heel but her "Best Bret" promo was cringe

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 15,143 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

Yea it didn't really make sense and Will even apologized on twitter.

Agreed with the lack of crowd and atmosphere overall in Calgary.

Hangman is only using the elite to get to swerve and I hope he just becomes a lone wolf character as his current character doesn't fit the Elite.

Would be tempted to do all in but it really seems like a nightmare to get out of post event.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,192 ✭✭✭ThePott

Appreciate the insight. Definitely can see the downsides of it but like you said, would love to experience it.

It's the getting back to the hotel late at night with a massive crowd that is the most off putting for me. Granted it'll be a smaller crowd this year cause they have a different stage set-up but still.

I'm thinking I might book everything and buy a ticket last minute.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,254 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

It seems Hangman is more just a loose cannon gun for hire than full Elite. He's with them to get Swerve, not out of friendship. I like what they're doing so far with him, he seems to be operating at a level not seen since before he won the Championship.

I'm liking the use of Jarrett also and I hope they continue to use him beyond the OH Tournament, maybe a part of blood and guts? He could be a great tool to get Hangman over even further as a heel, who would be raging at what he would perceive to be poor refereeing decisions.

Can't fault how Britt and Mercedes has gone so far, very simple and to the point interactions is working.

In regards Toni and Mariah, hard to say what way was the right way as to who should be the heel, but longer term a monster heel Mariah works better for me than face Mariah.

AEW seem to be doing a lot right, right now. They deserve an upswing in momentum.

An absolute thing of beauty, 10 minutes of Swerve vs. Ospreay in Slow-Mo.

Saw somewhere that Twisted Metal season 2 is starting filming this month so Joe has probably been written off tv for that.

That was some ending on that Stampede Street Fight!

I wasnt all that keen on the Learning Tree Stuff but it's not bad

Willow is the new CMLL Womens Champion, Tony sent Willow down to help CMLL out and replace Stephanie Vaquer.

What a year Willow has had a champion in AEW, NJPW & now CMLL.

Who was that clean shaven man with Dax Harwood?

Outrunners with Dalton Castle seems such an obvious choice.

Even though they have so many contracted wrestlers, are they working limited or something? Not only did Roderick Strong also have a match on Rampage, but didn't Top Flight face Shane Taylor Promotions?

Who's been sanctioning the matches the past few weeks because wasn't Juice defending the titles before last night?

I was a bit annoyed when Dalton Castle lost against Strong

Dalton Castle always makes me laugh and now with the Outrunners, what chemistry!!

Forgot that Dalton got injured during this match, maybe that was the reason he lost, I hope so.

    Dalton seemingly got concussed :(

Fightful reporting AEW will run a major event in Dallas in 2025 and a city official has hinted to them that it could be a stadium show.

Ric Flair “ I pitched turning in Sting, I haven’t heard anything from them since.”

WoooEnergy also no longer sponsoring AEW.

You know I think I may mark this in the calendar to attend my first wrestling show in America

Aer Lingus fly direct to Dallas Forth Worth as well.

The AT&T stadium is about a 15 minute drive from the airport.

Dynamite 250 tomorrow night and with AEW & TNT looking like they are treating it as a PPV level show will we get any debuts and returns on the show I wonder.

    The announced card so far..

    Swerve vs. Okada

    MJF vs. Will Ospreay

    Mercedes Mone vs. Nyla Rose

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,192 ✭✭✭ThePott

Can't imagine we get clean finishes for some of those.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,192 ✭✭✭ThePott

Tony Khan has stated (in an interview with comicbook.com) that there is no plan for a US stadium show "in the immediate future".

So take that for what it's worth. He didn't confirm or deny Fightful's report on Dallas. Who knows if he's just being cryptic as May or August or whenever isn't 'the immediate future'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,887 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Tony saying RJ City has been the main man behind the Toni/Mariah story as he was the only one who had seen All About Eve.

RJ may still get his All Elite banner.

What an amazing two hours of wrestling.

Ospreay vs. MJF where the best wrestle was another 5 star banger from both men.

Okada going weak at the kness for Mercedes had me in stiches and it looks like she is going to be part of The Elite now which is the right way to go with her.

Nyla Rose was the perfect opponent for Mercedes.

Mariah May is just so good and really has earned her moment in the spotlight at All In.

Swerve vs. Okada was great and a perfect set up for Blood & Guts next week.

Hangman is only after one thing and he doesn't care about anything including the world title.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,254 ✭✭✭The White Wolf

I'll probably be on my own with this view, but now would seem like a good time for Toni to drop the Timeless gimmick and come back out for blood and without all the pomp.

Even the biggest fan of the gimmick would have to admit it has a shelf life, and I think dropping it now would really make this feud with Mariah a classic for AEW.

But maybe the gimmick is Toni's comfort zone on the mic.

Only watched that hour match and what a match it was. MJF really is an amazing wrestler and I don’t think he gets enough credit for that. His talking overshadows is wrestling abilities and it really shouldn’t.

    Regards,

    P.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,192 ✭✭✭ThePott

    Strong Dynamite on the whole.

The hour long match was outstanding, MJF can be boring in the ring at time imo, but he can absolutely put it up with the best in the world when he needs to. I have a few minor quibbles; it felt a bit long and that inevitably leads to kick outs of big moves or no-sells which I'm not a lover of. The only other minor nitpick I have and it's something of a constant in AEW and I know they say ref's discretion but I just find that a dumb caveat, it also lessens the impact of the rules actually broken as they were in the finish of the match. That doesn't take away from the match for me overall though, it was a belter and one of the best matches in Dynamite history without a doubt.

Mariah looks so much like Toni it took me a second and I agree with White Wolf that it might be time to start looking at a new persona for Toni. She's cleared out much of the division and I think this character only has so much life to it, now that the understudy has turned on her have Mariah win in Wembley and Toni come back re-invented.

The build to Blood and Guts has been weird this year, it feels a bit heatless. Outside of Hangman and Swerve the feuds don't feel that serious. I think it's suffering from the same problem as WWE having a HIAC ppv every year regardless. Having the comedic heel EVPs be in this serious deadly feud with… The Acclaimed just seems off.

Also I'm sorry but the version of Okada we're getting is exactly what people feared WWE would do with him. It's fine but people overlooking it are just showing their arse imo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,350 ✭✭✭Cotts72

Yeah Toni needs to change it up..I think this persona has peaked with the title win...it doesn't work going forward IMO

Agree with Loads, I think he's been a bit of a letdown so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Had to laugh at the ref starting a count later in the match when both MJF and Ospreay were outside the ring after they were both in the crowd for about 3 or 4 minutes earlier in the match.

I know people joke about there being loads of titles in AEW but I genuinely forgot we had an International and a Continental title so when I saw Okada with the Continental title after MJF had just won the title I was confused.

I'll do a negative comment on that show now: Sure they only had 3 matches in the whole special episode! 😋

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,627 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Yes Okada had me in stitches, this man is just comedy gold, his facial expressions and mannerisms are just the best around

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,627 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Imagine 1 hour long PPV level match on Dynamite

    What a match, bloody hell

What a match, unbelievably good. Match of the year contender.

Cracking episode of Dynamite, definitely one for the sickos! Not bad going getting to 250 to be fair.

AEW content being advertised on Max now according to some Twitter looks like a deal has been reached.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,192 ✭✭✭ThePott

This is a bit misleading and to be confirmed yet what it actually means.

The person who originally reported it, had to clarify that it is Max internationally (I actually mentioned AEW was on Max in France weeks ago on here). There hasn't been any confirmation yet that it is coming to America. I'll check what territories I can see it in, in a second.

It is most certainly not, as of this writing available on Max in the US, I've checked myself and others have confirmed the same. As mentioned it was available in France since at least 3 weeks ago so whether it means anything for a tv deal is hard to say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,887 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Looks like it is appearing on Max in other countires as well.

Fair play looks like Tony got the deal he wanted this could be huge for the company.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,192 ✭✭✭ThePott

I guess Coulson is just ignoring me (or has me blocked🤣) So far it's appearing… ONLY in other countries. I've actually checked multiple Max catalogues and so far the only one I've found that has it is France (and Monaco), which was the case weeks ago too as mentioned.

For those curious, I screenshotted what it looks like.

The following countries have no AEW content at the time I searched (will continue to update): Spain, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Slovakia, Slovenia, Portugal, Hungary, Czech Republic.

Left Europe and checked Peru, Brazil and Mexico and they also have no AEW content.

Outside of AEW All Access which has been there ages, there is no AEW content on the American Max.

I must be the only one not totally gone on the "epic tv match" between MJF and Will, too long, too many spots and not a great ending, I think I preferred the Will vs. Swerve match but that is just me

Anyways that does not matter as Dave gave it 5.75 stars

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,887 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

MJF will be defending the International title in Arena Mexico on August 2nd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,627 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

That's pretty rare to see MJF wrestling outside AEW, could this be even a first?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,887 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

I think it could be a first for him in Mexico anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,887 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Dalton Castle is out for the rest of the year.

He got knocked out clean in his match against Rodrick Strong last week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,627 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

    ah ffs
One of my favs and he was getting really pushed with his new boys. Terrible for the Outrunners too :(

Hopefully he comes back even better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Another week and another injury. this time for Skye Blue. Watching the video again, it looked like the ankle bent awkwardly.

I was going to say before, as much as I can appreciate watching Skye Blue she does seem to be on a lot and usually against jobbers. And considering there tend to be only 3 women's matches a week on AEW with 2 titles, you would think the matches would be used to showcase the titles or potential challengers.

I was surprised when they had a second women's match. Though, being a Lumberjack match, it just showed how many women they have that don't get much tv time outside RoH.

As for the rest of the show, debut from Hologram which highlighted the main issue with matches involving some Luchas. Requiring the opponent to let things happen or aid them. I know most moves in wrestling require both parties to pull off successfully but they're not usually so obvious. But this was just a showcase for Tony's new baby. Though "Hologram"? Really?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,496 ✭✭✭wayne040576

That episode of Collision was absolutely atrocious. Everything about it was amateurish. From the terrible presentation to the sound - those echoes. Really bad for a television broadcast. The venue looked like a community centre and still had poor attendance. Looks like they've decided it wasn't worth the royalty fee to Elton John.

And then another botched spot that ended in injury. And another Lucha debut..

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,350 ✭✭✭Cotts72

Hologram reminds of when sin Cara debuted in WWE years ago, they could only pair him in matches with lucha type wrestlers that suit that wrestling style

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,627 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Yes the poor echoing sound quality is something I've always noticed with AEW, it's one of my pet hates and just really amateur stuff. This Collision was particular bad and probably their worse audio ever.

For anyone watching the WWE product, they they have these issues too?
