Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They did alter it recently to open it up I think it was. But Anthony Davidson was showing a lap and the shadows around the track are nuts. It's like the Monaco tunnel around a full track.

Looks like they need to put the kerbing back to make that corner a little slower. Drivers looking like they need to be saved from themselves.

Ferrari are cursed at that track. If they didn't have bad luck, they'd have no luck :(

I say leave it. F1 badly needs less predictability, not more. With Le Clerc out of position tomorrow, combined with the inevitable safety car or two, it should be a spicy race.

Undoubtedly what I’ll coin, a Netflix moment anyway.

Yeah crofty stick to commentary which you're no Murray walker at let's be honest.

That corner though might need to be changed back as it's clearly a corner set up in a way that it shouldn't. Two red flags in less than two sessiom of qualifying at one corner means drivers are taking chances at this corner that isn't there.

Both were pushing too hard, simple as. 18 other drivers haven’t made that mistake. Give me this result over miles of blue run off every single time. The race always benefits from drivers out of position anyway.

If Leclerc gets into q3, he is allowed to take part, did I get that right?

I vaguely remember about a rule where the car has to return to the pits under its own power no?

Depends if chassis needs changing but yeah if he's in t10 and doesnt need to breach parc ferme he should be fine.

Mekies and the FIA guy were talking and they mentioned the FIA guy would be examining the tyres if he was to make it.

Edit: apparently not. Mekies must just have been saying the chassis is fine.

Correct, even though Leclerc is in Q3 he cannot take part. He will start 10th, assuming no grid penalties for changing something like a gearbox or chassis

Edit: for reference Article 33.2 of the sporting regulations

Murray Walker had his incredible amount of misidendifications and mistakes (not to mention times where simple chances made him wrong, like mentioning how difficult is to overtake and the camera showing a couple of overtakes 3 seconds later :D ), but he was clearly competent and most importantly, he didn't sound like a pompous arsehole.

It’s what was known as a Murrayism, I think David ‘it’s lights out and away we go’ Croft is hoping for a similar title of ‘Croftyism’ over my dead body will I ever think of Croft as being a good commentator, Walker was on another planet next to that clown.

A Mercedes one and two as it stands.

Mercedes: "Ferrari are faster than us, honest"

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say that's not accurate.

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say that's not accurate.

Le Clerc would have been there though, so it’s hard to say. Ferrari still have things on paper, but they keep handing the advantage to Merc in reality...so we don’t fully know the relative differences between them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,364 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

So the mercs will be the last two then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,759 ✭✭✭Inviere

Superb lap by Bottas, though the Merc’s looked to be scrapping just before their timed lap. Lewis will prob feel he was compromised by that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,330 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

And another Merc 1-2. And another Ferrari nightmare. Some things never change.

Perez P5, now all I need is Bottas, Hamilton, Vettel and Verstappen to crash into each other at turn 1 tomorrow and let the champagne flow.

Ferrari were better in practice because Mercedes keep their best for when it matters, Q3! Bottas and Hamilton both upped their performance.

The delays allowed the temps to drop significantly too, which hurt Ferrari. Arguably Le Clerc might have extracted more than Vettel did too, so once again Ferrari were unlucky and error prone.

That was entertaining , Good from Bottas.
Good from Dani K on his birthday . I think its a good mix for tomorrow . Plenty of over takes with Gasly and Charles L start positions .

Waiting on Channel 4 highlights, but it sounds as if Ferrari tripped over Mercedes-Benz sandbags again.

How much further can the Mercs turn up their engines in Q3 compared to the rest, similar pattern week in week out.
