    What second post?
Bioware have now acknowledged this is a bug.
    It's bad programming.

Jesus, that is REALLY bad... that's blatant enemy power scaling based on currently equipped weapon power. I'm sure it will be fixed ASAP.

Still though, I dont know why but I absolutely love this game. Warts 'n all... I still look forward to playing this every evening, and find it hard to put it away. And thats with one or two "back to main loading screen" type crashes every evening. Hard to explain the enjoyment TBH, but its real.

Yeah, it's a very enjoyable game all right. It's a shame it shipped in such a poor state because that's going to understandably put a lot of people off giving it a go if and when it gets fixed/improved.

Oh EA put pressure on Bioware to get Anthem out for sure as they are in a seriously bad place IP wise at the moment with longtime customers outright giving up on their bigger franchises like Battlefield, Battlefront and Mass Effect and sale figures reflecting that.

EA needs a hit so badly but due to their own greed, they are literally cutting off their nose to spite their face by destroying their product lines as launching Apex Legends days before one of your most hyped products comes out, is just insane. That's not to say Bioware didn't screw the pooch here as they did and bigtime, as for how anyone could test this game and not see that the loading screens were going to be a huge problem is beyond me. Even simple things like not being able to run in town really shows the devs don't play video games.

...Or, the requirement for a slow movement speed through Fort Tarsis is down to the technical limitations of the engine exacerbated, in this particular case, by a more densely populated area with a higher level of visual fidelity, all viewed via a first person perspective?

It's just a guess like, but I find it significantly more likely compared to the notion that no one on the Design team at Bioware, nevermind the Design Director on the project, who was formally the Lead Designer of the Mass Effect trilogy, play games. :pac:

Id have to agree. Maybe the cost had to be paid to give the fidelity that the initial trailer suggested was going to be there. Mass effect andromeda felt like it paid a price for using frostbite in a lot of places too. Never even mind the development time wasted on previous iterations of that game.

Either way, fort tarsis gives you the total opposite feel to being out in bastion. The extreme mobilty of the actual game vs the slug speed of tarsis is such a massive contrast.

Obviously they knew this, but it was still put into the game. The launch bay feels much more in line with what i would expect from a game like this. But unless you have all items from legendary contracts you still need to visit tarsis.

The Frostbite engine has many flaws but being able to provide pretty detailed and awesome looking first person environments is not one of them. Now I agree it does seem to be a right pain to work with from what other dev teams have said but being able to run in the release version of Tarsis, an already cut back looking version of the city to what was shown at E3, and something Bioware devs said would be added very soon, really gives the impression either smeg all playtesting was done or the dev team is very out of touch with what makes a modern gaming experience.

Well givin the actual gameplay in bastion i wouldnt say they are out of touch.

In mass effect andromeda the biggest slowdowns in the game came for me when i was traversing hub areas. It seemed to depend on the amount of NPC's in those areas. Tarsis is full of NPC's,so id suspect the same issues frostbite had with NPC's in andromeda it still has in anthem. This is on top of of the area itself being pretty high fidelity and fairly densely packed.

One thing other games that run on frostbite dont have is lots of NPC's. Be interesting to see if anything is removed from tarsis if they do allow sprinting beyond the sprint thats already there.

It doesn't have rendering issues though, it has pretty well documented resource loading issues which are the most likely candidate for the cause of the movement speed limitation under the circumstances outlined.

This has the potential to be somewhat offset with additional time spent on optimisation which is why it's something that can be improved over time, say for instance the weeks between the demo release and launch. Alternatively, they can just reduce the size of the problem by, I duno, reducing the scale of the city from what was shown at E3.

I'm level 450 and I played 11 world events on grandmaster 2 tonight and got zero legendary or machine works loot from any of the 11+ chests that I opened. Not a happy xbone bunny :(

Not sure if they just made it really hard to get masterworks, or if it's just glitchy tonight. Will try again tomorrow.

World chests and random high level enemies are as good as events from what ive seen.

The fact a lot of the chests require underwater shenanigans is a bit on the annoying side though.

Last night i got one materwork from each legendary contract and one from the stronghold i ran. The bare minimum, the night before i got 7 from the same run. RnG'esus can be a cruel mistress:(

Still no legendaries,3 characters over 400 with storm the highest at 477

Easily have 80+ MWs and 1 legendary.

    Ranger 490
All others hovering around the 450 mark.

Think I'm done with this for the time being. I have a ranger and Colossus pretty much maxed out with God roll builds in respect of what I'm going for. I've enjoyed my time with it, but until they add more variety to the endgame I've had enough. I'm especially disappointed that they didn't really address new content on the stream. If anything it sounds like we may not even get what was advertised for March, in March.

Same here, totally enjoyed the game once i got by the incredibly annoying journey to endgame, endgame has fantastic potential, gameplay is very enjoyable.
The game just needs more endgame activities, if and when that happens ill be back but meanwhile i got 3 weeks of enjoyment out of my one month sub to origin access, id call that great value.
The division 2 imminent arrival was always going to grab my attention after the month of origin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,128 ✭✭✭✭aaronjumper

I got my Interceptor to 410 and then gave my Ranger/Collosus some of the transferable items and arsed around freeplay with a friend.
About half an hour each and the drops I got brought each Javelin up to 405 or thereabouts.
Lined up the Storm for similar treatment later.

Probably start running the strongholds/missions at GM1 after that to try for more Masterworks.
Only thing that still wrecks me is the giant Titans.

    Are the Legendary contracts tough?

Also, anyone else enjoy splattering Wyverns with the Colossus shield. :D

Agree with all you said. My quitting now isn't a reflection of the huge amount of fun I've had with it, it just needs that new content. Also the Division is on the horizon as you say, plus I'm a huge sucker for from software games and Sekiro is just around the corner.

I'll definitely be back if that new content drops though.

A sensible idea to give it a break for awhile imo. The loot pool as stands should be the smallest it will ever be so i dont really feel the need to grind repeatedly.

    I would like a legendary before i stop though:pac:

    played 4 Gm2 strongholds.

    4 MWs...4......

I got 6 from 3 legendary contracts this morning on GM1. I was doing them on GM2 but the rewards are not worth it amd they take way longer.

The difficulty scaling/rewards above GM1 dont seem worth it at all to me. GM2 doesnt seem any more rewarding and the scaling of it is off for me. It just turns enemies onto sponges for damage for no real benefit.

    Has the patch dropped?

Yeah i tried GM2 for most activities but just found it a slog really. Maybe with the addition of legendaries that would change but i havent got any yet so cant tell.

Its strange because GM1 feels way too easy at this point, but GM2 feels like the spike is not difficulty but just hit points for enemies, which for me,takes the challenge and enjoyment out of it. Its just grind

True, the key will be how they manage it going forward.

3 contracts,1 stronghold and about 1 hr of freeplay yesterday morning,8 masterworks,7 of which i already have. Still no legendaries:(

All ran on GM2,post patch, which was a real slog in parts. Givin the limited content ive a feeling ill be shelving the game soonish.

I do like loggin in and doing the legendary contracts and a bit of something else i have time for but the loot really needs to be better handled to keep me playing. That or new content to run.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,666 ✭✭✭Muppet Man

I've only gotten 1 legendary ever and thats with 3 different pieces rolled with "Support x% Luck". (totalling around 100% between the 3). That being said, I do seem to average at least 1 to 2 MW's per stronghold on GM1.

Bizarrely I got 4 MW's on one run of Tyrant Mine on Hard mode with a buddy... a lot of repetition on the MW's, but the rolls make it interesting, particularly the ones that buff RB & LB.

Also, I've not seen/received a MW Support Seal for my Storm... that seems to be a bug though as many people have reported it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 709 ✭✭✭goon_magee

Support gear is capped at epic. Pretty sure BioWare confirmed masterwork support gear will be added later.

Aye it's a strange omission. There is also the possibility that they had them ready and stripped them out to be added in an upcoming patch. Going back to some of the developer streams pre-launch it's clear that a lot of items, mostly cosmetic, have mysteriously vanished.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,128 ✭✭✭✭aaronjumper

Two Masterwork Javelins down two to go. I'm drowning in MW, only got three Legendaries.
One of them was a double charged spark dash that refunds on kills so I'm pretty happy.

Trying to learn how to Colossus now.

I was wondering why I didn't see any support MW, guess my Interceptor is as high as it can get unless more Legendaries drop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,128 ✭✭✭✭aaronjumper

Got my Ranger and Storm up to Masterwork and they have competent enough builds.

However I decided to jump in for one last Stronghold with my OP Interceptor and the game crashed so badly my Xbox couldn't run anything.
Had to do a hard reset to fix it.
I can forgive a lot but I would really like it if they could make the game more stable and less likely to break your stuff.

More good news when I did get back in the two Legendary drops I got were there, sitting at a power level of 690 now.

Logged out now, don't want to push my luck any further.

Same thing happened me one evening. I got the audio glitch which was then followed by the game crashing and this god awful noise blaring at me through my sound bar. It sounded like the noise yer wee man from the operation board game used to make when you would hit his insides a slap with the tweezers.

Anyway, nothing would load again for me until I unplugged the system and turned it back on.

Haven't played in a couple of weeks. Was going to a few times, but was put off by loading screens and Fort Tarsis. Can't see myself going back for a while now, as the Division 2 seems to be very good.

I'm still just working my way slowly through the game and enjoying it (around level 20 IIRC). Is it really as bad at endgame as the tantrums on reddit suggest, or is that just reddit being reddit?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,715 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

The actual endgame loop backed up by enjoyable combat is excellent but the loot is allover the place and not enough endgame activities, GM2 freeplay is the best way to go with the added bonus you dont have to deal with the dreaded loading screens until you fill your inventory.

I think endgame is supposed to be better then the rest of it, from what i've read. Not a huge amount of content, but that will gradually improve.

It's far better at endgame than it is during the 0-30 experience, so if you're enjoying it now you have nowt to worry about. Just don't expect a massive amount of endgame content, the main loop at the moment is grinding gear to perfect builds, there is no aspirational piece of content like a raid or anything to aim for at the moment though hopefully it's on the way.

Agree with this. Freeplay is the best part of this game. No loading, loads of events and on GM2, good loot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭EoinHef

I dont really like free play all that much. I prefer the direct nature of the missions and strongholds. The loot in free play is crap now too,90 mins of freeplay yesterday morning and 90mins of it this morning. Plenty of events and world chests,1 master work and a ton of epics. The game has stopped respecting my time. This was all on GM2.

The nerf to loot has been a disater in my eyes, much more grindy now and totally inconsistent. I much prefered pre 1.03. If its not sorted quickly i think they will have a major problem retaining players amd rightly so. Limiting the loot while content is also limited is an awful idea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,013 ✭✭✭✭Wonda-Boy

Yeah its absolutely impossible to level up any further now with the loot being so bad. And the fact you can only get mods from the good activities is stupid, you should be able to get guns and mods from everything to advance you further. I do alot of strongholds and have all the mods from my colossus but I want another auto-cannon which will only drop during the event and its very rare for a MW now.

I have not seen a legendary since the new patch, and that is some amount of hours played. So I am stuck in this stupid loot of just playing the game for the sake of it and the best thing I can get it better mods for the mods I already have which is boring after a while.

I am playing on GM2 btw. And all of my 3 javs (dont like ranger) are late 680s.

The grind is awful now, game just feels punishing now at 730,no loot, no legendarys since patch, ran out of masterwork emblems, time for a break i think and onto division 2!

I love my storm and have it up to 680 now and like most have said already the lack of legendaries has forced me to move onto other Javelins. Does anyone really play with the ranger... I started him last night and using whatever mods I had already, he started off around 480 and quickly got him up to 550 with a bunch of Epic drops, but to be honest I think it kinda sucks and doesnt have the wow factor... not sure if I'll be investing much effort in that Javelin.

Colossus seems popular and I will give the Interceptor a whirl too. Just wondering if people have seen usage for the Ranger... maybe the Super power missile strike for multiple enemies aint bad... but thats about it. I generally dont see Rangers in Stongholds.

I've been using a ranger as a main since changing over from a Colossus. I have a spark beam build that basically gives me zero cooldown on my spark beam. Stack that with elemental and damage buffs to that launcher and nothing else in the game comes close to melting bosses like it.

It definitely doesn't have as much all around utility as the other classes, but the single target damage is invaluable against tougher enemies and bosses.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

Ranger has better options for DPS on ads and main bosses.

I have a grenade that gives me 700% ultimate charge, combine that with a Storm freezing small enemies for me and I can unleash 3 ultimates on Tyrant Mine and 4 on Scelos.

Handy my storm is on TS with me :D

I have Ralners Blaze and Avenging Herald, hover, shoot with AH and switch to Ralners and most things die fairly quickly.

The other 3 Javelins do better mob control in my opinion, Ranger is great for focusing a single target.
I have fun using the different ones but wouldn't be an expert on how to play them.

I got the machine pistol that gives the Interceptor 110% melee damage if you shoot from point blank range.
My other components add 70% melee damage and another 10% on top if I dash first.
So an extra 190% with every third strike doing electricity damage.
    Oh yesh.
Have the components to make a decent sniper build if I like but think I'll stick with stabby for now.

The Legionnaire Challenge is turning into a pain in the arse.
I've completed the Stronghold part, the contracts part and am halfway through freeplay 100 events.
Quickplay missions are buggy though, only 8 of 25 so far.
Sometimes it won't load you in and other times you spawn with no objective waypoint markers.

Might just try and make my Ranger build better until they fix it or I get stubborn.

680? I wasnt aware that gearscore even went that high.
