Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Another great ride by Sam in Stage 2 of Bayern Rundfahrt.

Yes he did come 2nd last (127th) ... but it was a summit finish.
Impressively, he won the first two intermediate sprints (and he managed a second place in a KOM). He now lies in second place in the sprint classification.

Stage 3 today is relatively flat with a couple of small uncategorised bumps at the end. I don't think it's tough enough to drop the sprinters, but I could be wrong.

That is good going, fair play to him.

Possibly saving himself for today? He's usually quite good at getting over hilly stuff as long as it's not to long/steep.

He was in the breakaway yesterday so it was probably a combination of being tired, and taking it easy on the last climb. The GC riders contested for the stage win.

He was second overall in the points race going into today's itt. Hopefully he wins tomorrow and also wins the points jersey.

Sam was prepared to go for the stage win today that's for sure, he's wearing a skin-suit and aero over shoes.

You put [ spoiler] before the bit you want covered up, and then [ /spoiler afterwards. Remove the spaces between the square brackets.

There seems to be 3 major places the top cyclists live at present

    Monacco.
    Girona
    Lucca/Tuscany

with some living on the Italian /Switzerland border area...like Varese

    Sam has moved to Monacco

Hope he can afford it. Not cheap there!

Reading froomes book he said he moved there for money reasons (more or less) but there are some nice hills close by. Villefranche is spectacular

Well Sam has a nice pad ...

Of course Monacco is tax free I believe but has the second highest cost per square foot in the world (after central west London..ie Chelsea/Mayfair)

    And reply from Sam:
"hahaha i know man, it looked smaller on the net haha".

Sam won Stage 1 of Bayern Rundfahrt (2.HC) today. In doing so he managed to beat this year's Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix winner John Degenkolb, and the multiple GT stage winner Nacer Bohanni.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,387 ✭✭✭cunavalos

Big win for Sam today in the first stage of the Bayern Rundfahrt
Takes the yellow jersey into Stage 2 beating the likes of Degenkolb and Bouhani

The win was especially welcome as it his sponsors home race

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,457 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

    Stage 2 result:
    1. John Degenkolb (TGA)
    2. Nacer Bouhanni (COF)
    3. Enrique Sanz (MOV)
    4. Sam Bennett (BOA)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,387 ✭✭✭cunavalos

Looks like he loses the yellow jersey as well due to bonus seconds if my leaving cert german is correct

John Degenkolb vom Team Giant Alpecin wird auf der dritten Etappe das Gelbe Volks- und Raiffeisenbankentrikot tragen.

    3. Bennett @ 4"

He's becoming a pretty big player at this rate. A TdF stage win could be the next step upwards.
