Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just to further warn people of StackSocial, it took a total of 8 emails and one with Paypal support to actually receive the refund from them after they said they'd refund me. They're absolute cowboys of the highest order. Ignored probably 3 - 4 emails in a row from me over the course of 2 weeks. AVOID!

The original offer from 2016 seems to be still active, albeit the price is $35 rather than $29.

Mind you, if we avail of the 10% off first purchase deal, you can knock a few $ off the price.

Cheers fo the heads up, I just signed up for the 14 day trial.:)

Went through the step by step guide and changed the dns code on my PC, had to update the region settings on the getflix dashboard.

I then logged into netflix and searched for walking dead to see if it was a success,
Walking dead is available but it wont stop buffering.

PC is wired directly to the router via ethernet and download speed of 240mbs.

    Any ideas?

Is it just a case of setting the DNS IPs to those of Getflix on their site? Is there more config to do?

Who's your ISP? Maybe they've copped on to the getflix dns?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,725 ✭✭✭Metric Tensor

I did a DNS Leak test and that's still working fine (no leaks) and tried with my mobile provider too just in case. The same in all cases so I don't think it's the ISP.

(Which is a small local one so I don't want to name any names!)

You can get the UK content of Prime without a DNS changer.

Get on to customer services and ask them to change your Prime address to the UK.

Prime is working fine for me on devices with Getflix set up on them btw but also works on devices without it.

Does that work? I thought even UK dwellers got a limited selection when they were travelling abroad?

Yeah works perfectly. New EU laws means you get your home content no matter where you are in the EU. There’s a lot about it on the Prime thread on here.

I got onto chat a few weeks ago and asked them to chenge my Prime location to the UK which they did and I have the whole UK library.

Easiest way to check that it’s working is search for the film Batman vs Superman which is on the UK store but not the Irish.

Or ... More importantly in our house ....Thomas and Friends Season 16!!!

    That is quite useful information!

I had same problem few weeks back, tried everything was asked by dns provider. Ended up it was amazon who had stopped me. Got onto Amazon customer care had few hoops with them, used a revoult card as proof of uk bank account, already had a uk address Amazon then enabled all content back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,725 ✭✭✭Metric Tensor

    Hmmm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,018 ✭✭✭✭adox

Hmmm. Have Revolut card but would need an address. Doubt they accept parcel motel?

They didn’t even ask for an address. I think I may have changed my default address to a Uk address on my account. Either parcel motel or just googled one but can’t remember if it was necessary.

I only have an Irish credit card registered.

USA content on Netflix working fine for me using getflix, I sometime have to update my ip on getflix dashboard or on the app but that’s no big deal.
Don’t have amazon anymore I ditched it so can’t comment on that.

I've bought a lifetime sub from this crowd for $35 about a year ago, so I suppose I've gotten my money's worth whatever happens from here on.

You get a smart DNS and a VPN service too. I use the smart DNS on my android TV box to geo-unblock BBC iplayer and PBS (I don't use netflix), then I also use the VPN for anonymous browsing. If the geo-unblocking stops working I'll still make use of the VPN anyway.

What's that about the BBC requiring you to register in the future? Is that definitely going to happen?

EDIT: I'm almost sure this is the same company as Smart DNS proxy. https://www.smartdnsproxy.com/

I too have a subscription. Could you share steps on setting up the smart DNS on an android box to access iPlayer? Please and thanks. Accessing it through the VPN at the moment. Thanks in advance.

It’s on their main page. It’s literally going into settings and changing the DNS settings to the ones they have listed.

Ah right, I didn't realize that. I bought the sub a fair while ago (funnily the lifetime sub is actually 30 years), and haven't had any problems getting the US Netflix on my laptop. There is the occasional disruption but they fix it very rapidly in my experience.
