In theory yes, wreck people online in UT to get the highest amount of coins and just keep buying premium items until you get enough silver/gold cafs and moves to make them decent.

Cool. Not ideal for them daily objectives though :P I got kod by a preorder gsp with my crappy fighter even though I could tell he wasn't a great player

Theres nothing more satisfying though than dropping some guy with his pre order pro fighter and you have your caf

Is it just me or is the mount op as ****, when you get mounted if you have any stamina loss at all you basically can do nothing and get repeatedly punched in the face till its over. Cant block, cant transition, just become a punch sponge

UT is very disappointing. Your fighter can throw crazy spinning kicks but not a basic head kick if you don't have the card. A gold striker has very few grappling slots, my McGregor can't even transition from guard to half guard it's actually a joke. Fighters are missing basic skills to play the game properly. So frustrating. As well caf cards are locked to the specific type eg you can't choose to make him a striker, grappler etc. It's hard to see your progress as you win fights making it a grind and I can't see the tangible benefits of chemistry.

I haven't gone to ground much in UT (I've had very little time with the game since release) but surely everyone has the basic ground transitions, must check out my guy in practice.

Is anyone playing with the real clock? I changed it from the default accelerated but can't seem to win my first career fight. By the 3rd round, I have zero stamina and my opponent about half. I'm hitting him with bombs they do nothing, he hits me with one clean shot and I'm rocked. I try sparing my stamina and he just turns up the heat pressuring me. I changed from striker to brawler and having a bit more success due to my health boost. Might start again with the accelerated clock, see of it makes a difference. Only playing on normal FFS.

You literally just described my career experience last night. I started it on normal with a brawler as Artem. Didnt go with the real clock but the result was the same. I smashed the guy around the place for 2 rounds and then my stamina was wasted and he just started to come at me more and wore me down for the win. Replayed it and the same result so i just switched it off and went back to UT. Find the whole ground game and stamina messed up there so will see.

So what's the general consensus so far guys? Worth the few quid? I'm not particularly a big online guy nor was I blown away by UFC 2. I think I preferred the old THQ games. I also can't believe I read earlier that the T Mobile Arena isn't in the game, that just looks lazy tbh.

I'm enjoying career mode, and the standup is fantastic far better than 2, allows for real strategy. Would recommend

Leg kick TKOs are waaaaaaaay too common in this, last four fights have ended that way and I’ve won three of them. They need to tone it down in the next patch.

Career mode is very strange. I love the format, fighting in WFA, getting a visit from Dana White, the training, learning moves, tweeting and having trolls tell you get back in the gym bum :) but the gameplay is so weird.

I put it back to default clock and scraped a decision win in my debut. Ko'd the next guy and thought here we go but every fight since has been me scraping a decision. I had 2 finishes by armbar which were extremely difficult as a brawler.

Dana said I'm not ready for the UFC but invited me to TUF. Queue more 29-28 decisions until I lost in the semi. Got a UFC contract and said I'd join a jitz gym as my standup is getting me nowhere. Found it impossible to learn moves as it involved holding pro's in a certain position for a certain time and my ground stats as a brawler aren't good enough.

I think I might start it again as a balanced fighter so at least I'll have some ground game and subs to fall back on.

I mean, the whole point is you are gonna become the GOAT. I'm sorry but 29-28 decisions does not make a goat! I thought it would be handy on Normal so I could become goat and start a legendary difficulty career with a sub specialist.

Just to note, I'm softening guys up with jabs, hitting them with 3x combos mix of body and head, hitting them clean, have the highest starting power start with brawler but I'm lucky if I can rock a guy once a fight. That then against a grappler who can rock me with one clean strike. I make Artem look an actual ****ing goat!

I might stick to UT for a while.

Stephen how are you finding career?

Actually really enjoying it, I'm not really having difficulty getting the wins on normal have finished everyone so far, but yeah sometimes my stamina has been way way lower than the AI in the final round. my next goal is top 15. And yeah it's near impossible to get the bjj moves until you train up your top game for a while. I failed them a good few times until I got my top game into the 80s. Performance bonuses are hard to come by, and I think I've given up on sparring in favour of improving my stats and promotion because I think that's more beneficial than a key to victory. Much rather this method of getting moves than in UT :D

Thanks man, what type of fighter did you start with?

The guy in charge of career mode posted these gym tips for getting the best stats.
My ideal training camp is using Learn when I am at 60-71% fitness. Then going into Spar when i am 71% to 90%, and then Training my attributes from 90% to 100% fitness since you get the most out of Training when you are near peak fitness

Lead Dev has been explaining on is forums issue with stamina, he has posted some tips. Basically, missing shots drains stamina more than blocking body shots. So try to evade the shot to make your opponent lose stamina faster. Performing actions while your stamina is low reduces permanent stamina faster. Throw a combo and let stamina build back up. As your stamina stat increases, you can throw more. I think this is my problem in career. I'm headhunting and throwing once my stamina gets back to 50-75%, not leaving it recover fully.

Striker, but my top and bottom game have helped me a lot as the Fighters got harder. Starting to struggle now right after I posted that :D I'm starting to be way overmatched. I'll probably lose my next fight he's so much better than me.

To anyone else struggling with the game so far, I’d highly recommend the skill challenges. They’re so much better this time, less of a grind and much more helpful in teaching you the game.

More career tips from career Dev.
Early in your career, GOAT shouldnt be the priority. You will start accumulating records no matter how you fight. The focus should be on Train, Learn, and Spar. But mostly Train, since you are early in your career. The mistake I see a lot on streams is that people think Promotion is important when you are in WFA, Rookie, or Prospect. But really, you should focus on Train to get your attributes at a level where you can compete when the big fight comes. You know you only have 3-4 fights until then, so focus on your training.

When you get to Contender and Superstar, that is when Promote comes into play. If you didn't focus on Train early in your career, this is where it will bite you in the *** and you always feel behind.

I'll admit, I felt like I should be getting first round KO's from the off, especially with Dana watching. Gonna start again and change the gameplan.

During the DWLFAF fight, it's worth it to get the guy in an armbar to listen to Serra explain it. Him explaining Jitsu on that show was one of the highlights.

On my second ufc contract, haven't been beaten yet. Few first round finishes on the way. Ground and pounding.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,480 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Started career again as striker and having much better success. Decisions are clear, no KO's yet, just rnc and TKO from GNP. I've changed my style from holding block and walking them down to lunging in and out, working beautifully. When I make them miss and lunge back in, the damage is amplified when I land and they lose a chunk of stamina from missing their shot.

Also following the training advice on the previous page makes a huge difference. Learn, spar and then train when you are at 90-100 fitness. My stats have jumped up higher than my first 2 goes at career and I've better stats than any opponent so far.

Lastly, as a striker, the lead body hook (L1, L2, square) to round house kick (L1, circle) is a great quick and easy combo.
