Currently 2-2 with one match left on course to decide and they are o tge 21st hole. Leon's lost her match and the decider now is Lisa's match which would've class if she comes through after finishing her stroke play rounds 51 over

Amazingly lisa looks like she is about to do it for duke in the deciding match!

Delighted she is getting some attention instead of Leona

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,695 ✭✭✭ForeRight

    Cancel that!!!

Lisa's opponent just made a miracle up and down so it's on to the 23rd hole now

Unfortunately lost to a bogey on 24th. Disappointing for her after having fought back from 2 down with 2 to play earlier.

BRADENTON, Fla. – Duke University freshman Leona Maguire has been named the 2015 winner of the ANNIKA Award as the National Player of the Year at the NCAA Championships in Bradenton, Fla. The award was voted on by Division I women’s golf coaches, student-athletes and media.

Maguire, who hails from Cavan, Ireland, collected a school-record 70.78 stroke average, while notching eight top five and 10 top 10 placements out of 11 tournaments during her rookie campaign. The ACC Player and Rookie of the Year totaled three victories on the season at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, ACC Championship and the South Bend Regional.

Her stroke average of 70.78 bested Duke alumna Amanda Blumenherst’s mark of 71.00 from the 2006-07 and 2007-08 campaigns. Maguire equaled Blumenherst’s Blue Devil record of 24 rounds of even or under par as well from the 2005-06 season, while her nine top five finishes this season ranked tied third.

Maguire netted a team-best 10 rounds in the 60s and counted all 32 rounds during the 2014-15 campaign. She registered a head-to-head mark of 894-54-13 on the year. Maguire currently ranks No. 1 nationally in both the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and the Golfstat Cup.

In the Duke freshman record books, Maguire closed the season ranking tied second in top five finishes (9), tied second in top 10 finishes (10), tied third in top 20 finishes (10), tied first in victories (3), first in stroke average (70.68) and tied first in even or under par rounds (24).

Played one hole in front of their younger brother today in cavan. He's low single digits and very clearly already a talented golfer. Hes 15. One to watch.

Leona continuing her fine form in the first 2 days of the Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship up in Portstewart.

Comfortably topping the qualifying for the top 64 to head to match play.

Good comeback by Lisa today to make the last 64 as well.

That's amazing golf. Great to see the Slieve Russell beside her name. Cavan needs all the publicity it can get! :) Was watching them hit at the range at the weekend and they have such smooth, controlled swings.

Leona already 3 up after 4 holes in her last 64 match.

Edit: 6 up after 9 now so should be nice and fresh for her last 32 match this afternoon.
Not so good for Lisa, 3 down after 4. There was the potential that they could have met in the last 16.

Leona won 8&6 while Lisa lost 4&3.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,506 ✭✭✭Speak Now

Leona won her last 32 match 4&3 so only had to play 27 holes today to win her 2 matches.

Tomorrow morning in the last 16 she will play the girl that knocked out Lisa.

Leona lost 3&1 in the last 16 this morning, it was all square at the turn and the scoreboard had her 2 up after 15 and 16. Obviously it was the Aussie girl that was ahead frown.png

Leona teeing it up against the pros this week on the LET.

European Masters which would be one of the bigger events on tour.

Will be interesting to see how she gets on against the pros, already tied for the lead on 3 under after 6.

Missed a short birdie putt at 15 but still well in it. Showing exactly why she's no. 1 amateur in the world

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,093 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Has given herself another birdie chance on 16

Just missed it, looked in all the way.

Leader only pars 17 after driving through the green.
Not sure if Leona can drive it though, 258 to pin, 230 carry over water.

    Edit: She's going for it
