Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone know of any apps that are "compatible" with android and iOS? i.e. If I use my android phone to buy an app with phone credit can I then download that app on iOS.

Or could I use my credit to transfer to my play account to purchase an app? If so can you transfer all credit or how would you set up a recurring monthly payment?

Ok what about this - I want to get Flightradar24 which is 39.99 per year. I downloaded the app on Android and can select 3 billing to subscribe. I entered my details and am about to hit Subscribe. This app can be used on other devices by logging in. Does this sound ok? Will the 39.99 be taken from my credit in 7 days (after free trial)

    There's a 30 euro limit per month

    It’s an annual sub

Actually I see what you mean, ok there is a lower option for 15 a year would that work?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,053 ✭✭✭pl4ichjgy17zwd

Yep, I have a sub that's about 14 euro a month that works fine.

Do any of ye recommend CoinGate? Feel like trying it out because I’ve €60 racked up in credit

Ye used them before keep in mind if you spend your full 60 euro (which equates to a 60 min call) you will only get about 30 euro back in your chosen crypto.

Also allow for 1-2 days for it to go through and enter your wallet.

But ye I would use them again I have 40 euro in credit at the moment so will probably do it today or tomorrow.

I think ive donated more to charity since this thread began than ive ever done in my life.

Please keep laura lynn in your minds when you have excess credit

May not be of much use to many of you, but I'm guessing it's new seeing as I got spammed a few times with splashes for it upon opening the app.

You can now use carrier billing for a monthly subscription to your favourite Twitch streamer on the Twitch mobile app.

I also saw that which is what brought me back to boards. I was thinking of setting up my own stream and subscribing to myself, however I'd need to reach some requirements they set first and I'd need to make multiple accounts if I wanted to spend all of my credit instead of just €5 a month

Has anyone tried using Coingate to convert phone credit to bitcoins then https://www.egifter.com/ or similar to convert bitcoins to PSN credit?

Anyway I can spend excess credit on eir payg?

Interesting. PSN US account, but that's fine. It would be great to be able to buy PSN (or Amazon) gift cards with Three credit, even with a workaround.

    I looked into this.

You need to become a partner and have 50 "favourites" or that in order to get any money from twitch...

I understand that only c.50% of subscriptions funds actually go to the streamer.

    Not so good.

You're right. Think what I'll do so is use Coingate.

Another option is uploading an app to the Play Store with in-app purchases and pay yourself through it, not exactly convenient but it's better than letting 3 have it all.

You'll lose 30% to Google with in-app purchases.

I currently use my credit to pay for Microsoft office subscription @ €7/month, and I've just started paying €2/month for 100gb on Google, as I'm heavily reliant on it these days.

Another thing I've used a lot of my credit on is buying games on my Nvidia Shield. I've spent probably €60-70 on all the Jackbox Party Packs. Great entertainment when all the rellies get together at Xmas time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 579 ✭✭✭keyboard_cat

Just a heads up for anyone looking at coingate tried it there cost me about 35euro credit for 13.44 euro worth of bitcoin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,866 ✭✭✭✭mrcheez

So just for the record, at the moment is there a way to use your Three credit to buy US PSN gift cards (via Amazon etc) ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

No. You can use coingate, get bitcoin, buy them that way.

No other way presently. Never was a way with Amazon.

This will be updated if someone comes up with a way. I've a feeling we won't be seeing any. Three obviously shutting down the methods due to excess fees they're missing out on.

...but losing 50% of the value right?

    e.g. €20 -> CoinGate -> €10 worth of Bitcoin -> Amazon $10 PSN code

    that's all correct?

More then that you can only pay into coingate in 30 euro no more or less (additional fees for mobile so i got charged approx 35euro credit on three)
for my 35euro i got back 13.44 euro worth of bitcoins.
A 10usd psn card costs about 8.70 so if i pay 70euro in credit i should be able to buy 30usd worth of PSN cards and have about 50c in bitcoins left over

Edit: you loose about 62% of your money on fees (But then again prices on US PSN tend to be a bit cheaper)

Really? I don't think it's a coincidence that boku no longer accepts three or Vodafone as payment right around the same time as hmv gamecredit shut it's doors.

The just lunched YouTube Premium can be paid for via carrier billing.

It's a little more expensive than Google Music though at €12/month, but includes ad-free YouTube, including on the desktop and TV. On Mobile, it lets you download YouTube videos to play offline and can play in the background.

If you currently are a Google Music subscriber, be sure to cancel the subscription as YouTube Premium includes Google Music.

Did you get it set up?

Sadly not. I chatted with google help but they were useless. They decided eventually that because my phone is rooted they didnt want to help any more.

Hopefully it will get resolved soon, but im not sure there is anything we can do to make it happen.

Is your phone rooted, or that's an excuse they're giving you? There are workarounds for most things when rooted. I know Magisk could get around a lot of issues.

You could easily just put your SIM into another device to make your purchases.

Most charities will have a text number. You can see the one for Irish Cancer Society here:
    https://www.cancer.ie/get-involved/fundraise/how-to-donate

Text CANCER to 50300 to donate €4

Text costs €4. Charity Name will receive a minimum of €3.60. Service Provider: LIKECHARITY. Helpline: 076 6805278.

Before they stopped it you could subscribe to your favorite streamer on Twitch for $5, around 4.30€. They took the €5 but credited your account with the difference. It's back now but costs €7. Twitch sold it's soul to Amazon, utter greed.

I followed this up with three who said my prepaid account needs to be registered and I need to show ID in store to confirm over 18 for play store purchases. Dropped in store there with driving licence so should be OK within 24 hours 🀞

unfortunately I see this being restricted as more people cop onto it.

e.g. if you say top up by 20 for free data for a month and then spend the credit on playstore etc then the carrier gets nothing for providing the service!

Well if you're like me, you switched to 3 when their 'top up by €20, get an extra €10 free' offer was running (as it currently is, I believe). I can top up by €20 per month, and spend €30 on carrier billing :D

It's the top promotion here. You need to port a number to them, it's running until the end of June.

I only signed up to the three deal about a week ago and always wondered how they make money from it? I mean, previously I was with Vodafone X where they take your 20 euro credit upon top up. With three it stays in your account to use for calls and other things but at the end of the month when it's likely its all gone they take nothing? Fantastic deal but what's in it for them?

Your info/data which governments/militaries/advertisers pay handsomely for I'd imagine. It's like "Why does microsoft give you Windows for free?".

Where does Microsoft give you windows for free?

I'm sure the ihnt of people who spend their money on apps/subs is tiny in comparison to those who let it run out or spend it on calls.

I can kind of see your point however, all companies do that. I'm not complaining or anything, it's a great deal, I just wonder how you pay for unlimited data per month if you've no credit by the end of the month for example and the fact you can hold onto that credit upon topping up.

So I can just get a cheap tesco mobile sim and walk into three shop to avail of this? Hmm might go for it as my phone supports dual sim so I can still have my old number with three.

Have a few questions regarding the deal.
    1) Do you have to pay for calls to other networks and landlines out of your €20 top-up or do you buy a bundle for the 28 days.

    2) Do you have to use the €10 bonus credit within the 28 days or risk losing it?
(In other words you're not allowed to carry it forward to next month)
