Mentioned already but Def Leppard Hysteria is an incredible album from start to finish, the production values are amazing.
The Police - Synchronicity (so many brilliant albums, hard to pick one)

    Are live albums allows?
Simple Minds - Live in the City of Light
Level 42 - A Physical presence (worth listening to for Mark King's bass playing).

Hysteria is the Thriller of hard rock. The Super Deluxe Edition was well worth picking up. 5 CDs + 2 DVDs plus tour programme, book, poster etc. OOP now. Refreshing (for a rock band) to include single edits and extended mixes in a reissue - many of them hate their 12" versions from the 80s and they get ignored - unlike pop or soul acts.

One I left off of my list was The Strokes-Is this it

Brilliant from beginning to end, a real breath of fresh air at the time as well, even if it wasn't the most original album ever recorded it felt like it was when it was released.

    Glazers Out!

Shock horror that I'll say appetite for destruction by GNR is on my list. I also think the early led zep albums were nearly perfect. Led zep 3 doesn't get the love it should and okay it's a different type of album compared to led zep 2 and 4 but it's still a great album.

The Divine Comedy - A short Album About Love

Nick Cave & the bad seeds - The Boatman’s Call
    Green day - Dookie

Like 2 recent posters I was shocked appetite for destruction took so long to be mentioned. Also to reinforce 3 others I still listen to, Metallica black album, def leopard hysteria and Michael Jackson bad.

Do artists release albums any more these days, genuine question.

Yes they do. Streaming is the most popular method of delivery. CDs account for seven out of every eight physical copies sold.

Lads, criteria is not a single bad track on an album. Lots of classic albums have duff tracks on them *cough*Appetite*cough*

Sisters of Mercy: First and Last and Always.

The Pogues: If I Should Fall From Grace with God. Rum, Sodomy and the Lash

The Scientist: The Scientist wins the World Cup

Not a single dud on those.

Name one Duff (pun intended) track on Appetite For Destruction. 32 million and counting people can't be wrong.

You're Crazy and Anything Goes are not up to standard of the others. Would have worked better as a 10 track album.

Don’t know if this has been mentioned but Rory Gallagher Irish Tour is one I reckon is top class from beginning to end.

Yep, oddly enough, Acoustic version of You're Crazy is daycent.

A mate of mine taped Appetite for me when it first came out, before they really took off, and I secretly quite liked most of it. I used to call it Appetite for ****e though :D

    Mercury Rev - Deserter's Songs

Loved this album until the night at a house party, I tried to impress the guests by putting it on. One of them commented that the singer sounded like Orville the Duck. I was gutted because it was true.

Agree, it's better - I have it on the Super Deluxe Edition - nice set, shame there's no One In A Million (remember hearing a busker singing it on Grafton Street many years ago)

I was a Radiohead fan at the time but I refused to buy In Rainbows because it was one of those copy-protected fake "CDs". One x One by the Foo Fighters was another. I picked up the latter years later in a proper CD version. Never did get back into Radiohead though. Fcuk 'em anyway.

    Scrap the cap!

As I said in my previous post, it is rare for me to like every track on an album. However, I just thought of another one: Songs from The Big Chair by Tears for Fears.

Probably won't get much if any agreement on this one, but Wheatus' self titled album Wheatus doesn't have a bad track for me. Some might say it doesn't have a good track but it is very a consistent, albeit a very short, album.

Some great selections mentioned in this thread that I would fully agree with. Certainly in the case of Rumours, Debut, Dark Side Of The Moon, The Black Album, Leftism and Revolver (IMO the real peak of The Beatles as opposed to Sergeant Pepper).

Others worth a mention in my opinion:

PJ Harvey - Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea
    Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
    Nick Drake - Bryter Layter
    Eurythmics - Revenge
    Neil Young - Harvest
    Moby - Play
    Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark
