Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You shouldn't 23.25 dollars delivered which would be under 20Euro. only downside is address pal is around 16Euro.

So you'd be paying almost as much on delivery as the product? Addresspal the only option?

eBay your only hope now, there was two different posters, one at the merch stands and one with the VIP package.

Technically there was three; the different VIP levels had the same Stag design but one package level had a green striped background poster and on another level the background was blue stripes...

I thought the green one was just a variant that was done by the artist, what package level got the green poster?
Here's the stag prints for people that haven't seen them.

No, just noting the unintentional hilarity of it all.

I'm sure the band themselves even saw the funny side of it.

Just before I saw that I read a tweet from a successful broke musician that lars was in fact right at the time so those tweets seemed weird after that

Me and the missus got the green background version with our Shortest Straw package... (Green stripe Stag poster, Metallica logo sunglasses, Worldwired Tour scarf.) A friend had done a more expensive package and had two of the blue striped background posters, so we swapped a green for a blue meaning we both ended up having one of each variant.

Lars Ulrich is the cleverest of all drummers

    why?

because most of the BEST ie bonham/baker et all didn't register their iconic parts as writing contributions and lars is co writer on everything !

    apart from daves songs :)
“James contacted me two years ago. We were going to officially release the No Life ’Til Leather demo as a record, with 27 tracks, pics, the whole enchilada, and the talks broke down because Lars wanted credit on two songs. I wrote every note and word too. I have the texts. I passed.”

Was around 190-220 Euro when it came out initially,I got mine for 90 Pound on hmv site on a black friday deal. They are starting to go up in price but nothing compared to Master Of Puppets which is making about 450 Euro. Keep an eye out though and ocassionally people split the boxes on Ebay.

They used to sell used guitar strings ffs. Strings that they got for free from the manufacturers. Great way to make money, but I think they didn't sell cos they started sending them out with orders. Yeah, I have some ...

MOP is a very dense album. RIB is faster but has always been fairly one dimensional for that, great album, but Master has pretty much everything you want from a thrash metal album, it's a rich tapestry of sound and a lot of that is down to Cliff Burton. Orion is my all time fav Metallica tune.

A few years back I picked up the boxset. It was €220. I came into a sum of money and while I initially baulked at the price, I just had to have it so treated myself. I consider it an investment piece, not that I would ever part with it, rather it can be passed down if the time comes.

The greatest metal album ever made.

Completely agree with this, mop is far superior, musically an astonishing album, it shows metallicas superior abilities, even though there's nothing wrong with slayers abilities. I have found their albums to be very similar over the years, but still enjoyable, it's a shame theyve called it a day

Many fans do, there has always been a lot of love for Lightning.

It was an extraordinary volume of work the band put out in a relatively short time from 83 to 88.

I don't know if it's just me, but I get a very doomy feel from tracks like Thingy, Leper & Sanitarium........? Thingy is among my favourite songs by them.

It’s a little more than that

10 songs in 28 minutes vs 8 songs in 40 plus minutes says different.

There are a lot of different textures on MOP.

All I said was up as far as 89 90 the gap wasn’t as big as it is now , since that post I’ve had to defend RIB

Wow I haven't heard lars play that well in years, fair play to him.

Lars has been pretty solid for the last 7 odd years now TBH. He was very sloppy from around 2004 to 2012ish but clearly must be practicing more regularly these days.

The man was always a decent drummer, just the whole Napster hate and then him readily admitting he didn't really practice around the era I've mentioned above has mostly lead to the "Lars is a crap drummer" meme you see all the time online.

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

Being off the road may prove to be a good thing for Lars, IF he can get regular practice in these days.

In the 80's he was one of the best thrash drummers around and unjustice imo is his best work, I've definitely noticed him improving the last couple of years, he's seems to have gone back and learned the songs properly instead of adding in weird fills that don't fit.
