I think it’s worth a try. We could start with buses and trucks for a month, and if that goes well, follow on with the rest.

Can't with busses... Passengers get on on the left side :pac:

Change the buses. Bus builders will change bus bodies to suit any demand from the customer. If Japan changed to RHD, we would follow suit. You'd have to change over every single road sign in the country but they could probably do with a national overhaul anyway,as well as the road markings. Then, after the initial carnage, we would settle down. Wait until Covid is over so the hospitals would have room for the casualties.

Accidents would plummet if this happened.

At least for a while... "risk compensation"

Yeah but- there’s always the “Donegal” factor to consider - and what happens then with inter- county travel? :p

We're going to stop putting the clocks back and forward, and drive on the right. A trip to NI will involve changing the time and the side of the road.

not sure there are any real benifits to this.
huge negatives, higher no of crashs etc and the insane costs involved.

every sign would need to change
    every road junction
every on off ramp on motorways
    trafic light
    every roundabout
    most road markings
    etc
and all have to happen over night or there would be even more chaos
    never happen

Imagine having to switch from driving on the right to left upon going between Ireland and the North.

    *Brain melts.

    I'd say wait until reunification.

Also after that, get rid of that bloody clock change. I can't stand that at all.

Has anyone ever had a stab at the savings which would apparently be made on importing second hand cars from continental Europe? Cars from the continent must only be a few euro each to make it worthwhile to spend 100s of Millions of euro redoing our road network....
