Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nothing significant in Tipp this morning. Forecast looks like wind to pick up around 11 so off out on the bike to beat that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,634 ✭✭✭✭Graces7

The wind has started literally screaming now. High-pitched and eerie. Or maybe the banshee has come to visit...Then a few thudding words from it. Smashing rain against the door panel. Today will be.... interesting.... indeed it will.

then it quietens a while.. storm rhythm of a living force.

Its amazing how ignorant some people can be.like the kayakers yesterday.there's an orange warning in progress.lets hope there's no early strong gusts of wind while on that cycle.

Last 2 hours here in West Mayo have seen some very violent winds, rain and lightning. I'll be very surprised if there are no trees down in the locality.

I'd say it's borderline red level warning from galway up to Donegal for the next few hours, some decent convection on the way also.

It’s calm now here in Carlow but earlier in the night was as bad as we have had here. Very hard to sleep and a bit scary.

Nothing of note in Louth. Just really low airplanes overhead. Let's hope we get some of it later on today.

Very rough night here in North county Dublin. Was awoken by two almighty squalls that pushed through. Both were short but unbelievably intense

Castlegregory. Very windy here with high gusts. Heavy Hail shower just passed by. Water levels in the fields have dropped though. Gonna be an interesting drive back to Dublin today.

What’s the latest warning situation? In see an orange wind one on RTE for the south and west today (10:00 to 22:00) but it says it was issued yesterday and I don’t know if they update the website much on the weekends. And I don’t see any reference to them at all on met.ie.
Manly interested in Galway/Mayo area. Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,970 ✭✭✭Storm 10

At some stage during the morning my station recorded a wind gust of 70mph in Galway

Doesn't matter when it was issued. Read it again for the applicable times

I’m not asking about when it was issued. What I was asking was if it was still in effect as, if it had changed, RTE could have left it on their site. Do RTE keep this up to date?

07:50 Thunder and lightning storm in Galway
There was no rain with it. Felt a bit surreal and other worldly walking in it

    Really weird in East Clare
Flat calm with sun one minute then bursts of hail in battering wind with thunder the next minute...

Road race scheduled at Spanish Point at 1pm today, hasn't been cancelled...!!

My weather station has gone blank, not sure if it got damaged but not a day to go up and inspect.

Had some impressive thunder and lightning around 7am, didn't last long but made some racket. Wind has gone from dead calm one minute to ferocious gusts the next. Outside Newport, Mayo.

Sun shine and blue skies here in south Kerry , calm before the storm. Pity seems so nice

You'd be fine I reckon tbh. It's bad in the squals but otherwise yesterday was worse for driving.

Wexford match goes ahead for whoever was asking about it last night. I live a minute walk from the park, hasn't rained since about 5am and it's windy now but nothing bad at all.

Not too bad in between the showers near Limerick City. But the winds do Really pick up in showers and we're probably in some severe or maybe violent gusts today. Went to a local dance last night and driving home noticed quite a few twigs and small logs on the road.

Squall just passed through macroom & was expecting the wind to pick up behind it but there isnt a blade of grass moving. Must drive to killarney and back between 11.30 & 3.30. Hopefully it wont be too bad but please let me know if ye think it will be.

I am just back from a walk, along the shore, that I have done literally thousands of times. This is the strongest wind I have ever experienced & the local farmer agrees. At times we were struggling to stay on our feet.

Grand morning here in county limerick dog walked not a bother and shes outside happy out in the sunshine. Not seeing much to warrant a orange warning yet. maybe later.
