The wind is frightening here in Donegal, seen reports on facebook of drivers saying they never drove in conditions as bad as this before.

Getting some constant about 60km/h gusts in cork city. Just now had a way stronger one though, shook the window

Pretty wild here in a sheltered valley of the Wicklow Mountains. Can only imagine how bad it is in exposed areas.

Banks of the Foyle in a bad way, apparently looking like it's about to give.

Electric briefly out here in Letterkenny... she's a bad night

Met Éireann's aviation chart for midnight shows two occlusions; one looping through Ulster while the other aligned west-east is getting into Galway/Mayo and moving eastwards at 30 kts. The tightest gradient between both.

Erik's centre is 957 hPa just north of Scotland.

Erik shoving his weight around. My worst nightmare!!!

I had similar coming into Dublin around lunchtime today on Aer Lingus, a very rocky ride in and then aborted - higher altitude than in this video when he pulled back up at top speed. Circled for a while and then made another go at it which thankfully was a success! A frightening experience.

    Fine here in Glencar..

Awful night out there though, strong gusts but more so because of the rain, serious amounts of rain today and still pounding hard against the windows, back garden is under about 2 inches of water

ASCAT winds at 20:49 this evening, showing the strongest vectors reaching the NW coast around then, with weaker following on behind.

Very wild here Delvin Westmeath, some very strong gusts!! Lots of ****e on the roads tonight.

Very windy in North Co. Dublin currently. Officially 35kt at the airport 0000Z, up to 55kt gusts forecast to 5am
Feels and sounds like the higher end of that scale already.
Just drove back from Skerries and the car was shaking in the wind in several places. A 35kt gust doesnt do that.

Absolutely wild in the Phoenix Park

Haven't been following this very closely this time - thought it would have died down by now, but still huge gusts every few minutes and very very windy overall

Its unusual where I live. Its almost like someone has a Vulcan bomber or Boeing 747 running next to the house.

50kg blocks that hold down the lid of the watertank are moving..

Some severe gusts in west Dublin. Loudest wind I have heard here in years. Tree down in Palmerstown.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,165 ✭✭✭✭Hurrache

Same in North Dublin, wife gone to sleep in the back of the house where it's a bit quieter but I don't recall it being this loud around the house before. It's a good night for finding new draughts.
