Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A staggering 1.0 mm total today from that oddly slow moving band of rain, which makes it my wettest day this month so far. Still way not enough to water the camels or refill the ponds for the elephants to bathe in, but might settled the sand down for a while.

Unreal from the radar it shows rain over Galway since around 8pm last night and we still have not had any and it's now 1am , how can that be

    Terrible evening heavy rain.

It was glorious rain! So much needed and so much appreciated,

A peaceful gentle morning. Just enough breeze to keep the midges off and a few spots of rain now. Clouds climbing up the mountains... perfect.

Not so nice over in the south west today. Cool, very overcast and damp but seems to be improving as the day goes on.

Was brighter earlier on today quite dull now and of course cool. The roaster days reported in this thread earlier in the week never materialized really here.

Dull all day in Dublin but still no rain

Horrible cold wet day in Letterkenny. Aside from a few mild / briefly warm overcast days earlier in the week its been a poor month here so far, very little sun

Does anyone know what went wrong with yesterday's reports?

    Raining here now
I could see it black drifting down through the mountains for the last hour
Its giving the ground a wetting

Dry all day in Arklow but it had tried around noon with one or two drops
This is a decent shower though

Not a drop of rain in mid Galway, few drops yesterday that wouldn't make a cup of tea

It didn't really improve this afternoon in Kerry like I thought it might. Very overcast all day. A nice bright evening now, but cold. Far too cold for May.

Will May be remembered as being cold or for the “heatwave”?

Unfortunately it's about to get colder, particularly from the second half of next week and into the first week of June looks quite chilly in deed with temperatures possibly 1 to 4 degrees below normal, if the medium range forecasts are to be believed.

certainly no heatwave this May, hopefully second half of June into July will deliver some decent temperatures and sunny skies. This May and most of 2019 to date certainly the complete opposite of last year.

Fire lit last night. Cool and disappointing weather.

Have people with a young baby staying with us, had to put on the heating this morning being only 11.5C outside.

Was thinking of doing a bit of block work but it has the look of becoming showery in the afternoon. Could do with the rain though as only had 8.8mm so far in 16 days and just 56mm for April, my ponds are almost fully dried out and the water collected from the roofs is used up. The recent warmish weather gave a great burst of growth here in Kerry with silage contractors busy on the land. Apart from some hit and miss showers over the next couple of days looks like Weds night into Thurs for more widespread rain.

Another very pleasant day in Cork, humidity is nice and low too so great visibility making for some spectacular views over the bays down here.

    Collooney 35mm

Lovely blue sky morning. Will it last? Wouldn't be surprised to see clouding over by 10am

  • Registered Users Posts: 551 ✭✭✭Wine Goddess

Does anyone know how the weather might be in Kerry in the middle 2 weeks of June? Going down for our holidays!
From what I'm reading it looks like it'll be quite cool?
I'd be interested to know the ECM forecast?
    Thanks for any replies!

While Kerry is indeed beautiful it most certainly isn't renowned for its weather and often is damp and cloudy while the rest of the country basks in the sun. It's the Atlantic factor I'm afraid. But you might be lucky and when the sun shines down here it's paradise. We've actually done ok this May. While it's been cool, it's been mostly dry and bright so maybe that trend will continue. We're always thankful here once it's dry, anything else is a bonus. So fingers crossed for you!

Torrential rain in Inchicore, Dublin. Also, lovely sunshine. The raindrops are massive - very convective and I would imagine there is a very sharp cut-off between the wet and dry areas.

  • Registered Users Posts: 933 ✭✭✭alentejo

I can usually judge showers and avoiding them. Shower over Dublin between 5.30 and 6 drowned me completely! Soaked - very wet slow moving rain

Pea sized hail and some of the biggest drops of rain I’ve ever seen here at the moment in kildare

Ah acequion your giving Kerry a bad name for weather ! Sure isn't it the weather that adds to the rugged beauty :)

Beautiful evening back in Ballyheigue where you will get a nice swim Wine Goddess and miles of walking back to Banna and good fishing too if you head back this way. Hope the weather is good for your holiday, I think too far away to know how it will pan out atm, maybe into the first week of June you might have more of an idea .

Nice bit of evening sun here this afternoon. A better evening than most we got last week IMHO.
