Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can somebody please fill me in in what's racist about this ?

Dressing up as a TV characters for fancy dress isn't racist. Unless he started doing Nazi Salutes or said I hate Indians while doing it.

Is this that cultural appropriation thing again ? I seen a black man once drink a Guinness with a Jameson chaser ? Does that count ?

Since when did an Irish forum become so hyper American? It's fairly cringey at this stage.

It's gotta be exhausting being that angry and outraged at Trump all of the time.

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

Now if Trump did it the libtards in the media would be all over him for it so I hope leos BFF gets it too

"Culturally insensitive", I believe is what the youngsters are it calling nowadays.

Must admit I'm rather enjoying all of this. It's not that I even dislike him as a politician as much as I just dislike him. He just seems so incredibly smug.

Who's defending him? Your nose is out of joint because nobody is.
Seriously man, lay off the Republican propaganda. Is Leo friends with 'King of the lefties'? If Leo really messes up will he be a commie or something?
Funny how pretty much every country is run by a right winger yet right wingers see conspiracy everywhere. Maybe pick better stooges to make leaders.

In my opinion nothing at all.

However if you open the link in the OP and scroll down a little there is a link to another article called "What is Blackface ?". This article goes a good way to explain the concerns - which I think mostly ridiculous and not applicable - of the people who are bothered by it.

While I do not agree with most of that position - it pays to at least understand it. So it was a useful article for me. Perhaps you will find it so too.

Historically in the US it was used to mock people. Its not really seen as badly in Europe in my opinion. I think in relation to minstrels and stereotypes of black people in the US it is seen as mockery by black people.

The more you speak the more you sound like you're talking about the fascist left.

With their gender quota laws, and incorrect pronoun legislation, and lord knows what's next in terms of qualifying as hate speech.

Time and again lefties have been shown that when put in positions in power they will do their level best to pass laws which are insane.

Jesus christ, is this really what the world has come to. You can actually get in trouble these days for dressing up at a fancy dress party?

    Reminds me of this.

At Yale, in 2015, they (Professor and Wife) were involved in a controversy related to the regulation of Halloween costumes. On October 29, 2015, Christakis' wife Erika Christakis, a Lecturer on Early Childhood Education at the Yale Child Study Center, wrote an e-mail to Yale undergraduates on the role of free expression in universities; she argued, from a developmental perspective, that students might wish to consider whether administrators should provide guidance on Halloween attire or whether students might wish to be allowed to "dress themselves."

This e-mail was in response to a long earlier e-mail sent to undergraduates by a group of 14 administrators at Yale which suggested students be careful when choosing Halloween costumes, and which provided links to recommended and non-recommended costumes. The e-mail played a role in protests on campus that received national attention in the United States.

Brainwashed idiots. Did they miss there squish toy/play-doh class that day I wonder.

Nothing story. How was he to know 15 years down the line he'd be Prime Minister and subjected to this?

And blackfacing has only become a negative thing in the last couple of years.

This is just moral revisionism gone mad. Next you won't be able to dress up as Pocahontus!

Apart from the very, very, very, dark-brown face he does seem to suggest he would like to be 'grabbing them by the...' boobies with that creeping hand. And looks to be standing far too close to that young lady:

Ah well nevermind, wonder if he is wearing some funky mismatching socks that day.

I love the US liberal media’s spin on this nonsense. They wouldn’t dare call it ‘blackface’ regarding one of their darlings, so went with ‘brownface' in their reporting. Now, as the story is getting traction, it's become ‘face-darkening makeup.’ What next… ‘overly tanned face?’

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

My youngest is attending a very liberal college in Washington, DC, know for policy, politics and law. The school is the most politically actively university in the nation... on and off campus. This is exactly how the woke college darlings act. It takes all I have not to laugh out loud hearing what comes out of the students mouths.

Not the current wave of feminists...they feel women should get better treatment than men like getting paid the same as men despite doing a different job in some cases
