I wonder if any new 508 have been sold yet.

Surprised to see the Golf so far down. Maybe people are just holding out for the new one next year.

Finally saw my first this morning - 191 Grey Skoda Kodiaq, was quite nice looking bar the taxi livery

Wonder how many of the Konas were Kona EVs? Have seen a rake load of them recently on 191 plates

How's Audi doing? I think I've only seen two 191s so far.

I believe the emissions have played havoc with them with a lead time of 16+ weeks for some models. All anecdotal though. Anyone have any definite info?

The Golf Mk7 is in the last stages of it's life cycle. The WLPT testing bares a factor too and has hampered availability and prices of a model that will be replaced with a brand new model better prepared for WLPT from the off soon. You also have to factor in that a lot of German stuff are factory orders so January can be a slow month when factory orders usually experience delays.

Interesting to see that Toyota have been impacted by the withdrawal of the parish favorites - the Corolla and Avensis diesel. I see the nuns have updated their fleet of Yaris though.

€111,270 for something that looks like it's been in the middle of a three car crash.

Not sure about the €111k for the model x - according to their Irish site its €135k with just one option ticked - advanced autopilot (which you need to tick if you want to ever sell it 2nd hand, or tell the boys in the club house about how its future proofed to drive itself.)

Edit: saw a 191 fully electric Kona plugged into a charger on the prom in Skerries earlier, with a few lads standing around it

Problem with Toyota is that all new line up only coming out now or later this year. So what they selling now is all old stock.

As I said before. A lot of new models coming out this summer and 192 numbers will be interesting to see.

Hi - thanks for stats !

Have you list of brands and how they are doing ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,086 ✭✭✭✭Gael23

    VW T ROC looking popular.
Wouldn't have one myself. Might account for some of the fall off in Golf sales though

Yes exactly - practically every Corolla in 2019 so far is the old model which is been phased out.

I haven't even heard of any new model Corolla been made available for test drives never mind sold to a customer.

If anything the old school diesel drivers should have been falling over one another to get the last diesel Toyota to be sold

I saw a 191 Audi Q8 this morning, that thing is enormous.

The 508 isn't due to be launched until late February or early March

Are they though? I thought they looked well but not that big

I saw an English reg one in Waterford maybe late last year. They are fairly big on the road alright.

Here's one I saw in Avoca Dunboyne back in November and yes they are enormous. The proportions are good which is why I think it's deceiving to look at, possibly looks like a big Q3, but the front grille is ugly.

I don't buy that at all. VW have traditionally sold strongly from the beginning of each new year.

As mentioned though, they didn't this year as they couldn't commit to pricing of most of their range from August to November of last year due to WLTP testing. Very difficult to sell a car you can't put a price on and dealers lost a lot of trade as a result. It's had a very big knock on for them this year in terms of reg's.

    Just backing up your statement:

I actually went to order a 191 Golf 1.5 TSI in december. Reasons I didn't order:

    1) Delivery wasn't going to be until May/June (which is caused by the testing as the golf are due to be tested Jan/Feb), which is very close to the arrival of the new 2019 Golf.

    2) Choice of colours, wanted Turmeric Yellow in the R-line package and black wheels.

Would've got over the second one but waiting 6months for a Golf is just silly.

Agreed. The other makes seem to be managing a bit better nonetheless.

Still not convinced they are that big especially when you consider the q7 has to be bigger? Alot of these suv's are no bigger than cars except they are on big wheels and higher off the ground so they have a much larger presence

I don't know why Ireland is so fixated on the year of the car. My car is a 2000 Audi. She is in perfect condition. Apart from dings from fools in car parks.
Car is smooth as a pornstars fanny.
Nothing wrong, sails smooth through NC always.
Why do dealers accentuate the year of the car as a selling point?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,786 ✭✭✭Old diesel

How many VWs ordered are ordered by an end user vs those ordered for stock on spec by VW Ireland or dealers.

Is Joe who just wants a basic Polo ordering from the factory. Or buying something in stock????.

In theory a dealer who knows their customer base well could order a mix of cars he knows will sell in his area.

He orders them early and they get sold in January

There’s people that obsess about the number on their reg plate.

There’s others that assign gender to a mass of metal.

Each to their own, I suppose.

Hi- any actual figures of what makes are selling ?

some people like to be the first one to do the ‘smoothening’, and then pass it on to the next person while they move on to the newer model :)
